Alright, I am gonna lay down some of what I know about the warrior class of Japan.
Early Samurai carried a type of sword, not the katana quite yet, but a sword much straighter and actually of Chinese origin. The Katana became the weapon of the samurai in the 1300's and has since become the iconic weapon of the samurai, often worn as a Daisho, which is the Katana and either a Wakizashi (short blade) or a Tanto (knife).
The Iconic armor worn by the samurai, the plated and slatted body and limb armor with a hard helmet and a face mask, was once limited only to the rich and powerful clans of the samurai. After a while, the lower, poorer samurai got the armor and it became a staple of the warriors.
Bushido, literally 'The Way of the Warrior', was the defining and governing principles of the Samurai. It is said to have been something of a verbally passed code, usually with changes between clans and different masters.
The hierarchy was usually that of
Emperor | Daimyo | Shogun | Samurai | Serfs
(will add more later)
