Character Name: Elaeran (Elae)
Age: 17
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Candidate (Apprentice Tailor)

History: There’s not much special in her history. Like most of the current Candidates, she was raised within the Weyr. Unlike most Candidates, none of her family has, thus far, become dragonriders. Or at least her immediate family. Her family is fairly large: three sisters and a brother. She’s right in the middle, much to her delight. It allows her to interact with older kids and younger ones, which suits her perfectly. Her parents are Weavers, specializing in tailoring and clothes-making. Elae finds it fascinating, although in all fairness, she finds most things fascinating.

Not much was expected of her, really, beyond taking up the family business. Either that, or Impressing, but there’s not much hope for that. Occasionally, a cousin might Impress, but no one in Elae’s immediate family has ever Impressed. Still, she holds up hope and attends Hatchings with her usual enthusiasm. Hey, if nothing else, it gives her something to do, it gets her out in the fresh air, and she gets to meet lots of interesting people, and that’s what’s really important.

Description: Elae is a scrawny girl, sad to say, and is rather lacking in the breast department. She disapproves of this and is known to stuff her shirt to make herself look a little bit more endowed. Or, at the very least, she’ll adjust clothes so that they billow properly. Her practical side says ‘No’ to fine clothes but, shaffit, she likes pretty gowns.

Her hair, while nicely wavy, is almost dull. Oh, sure, it’s soft and silky, but it’s still just a dull brown color. She’s tried various dyes, but nothing really seems to make it anything other than it is. So, she lives with it. Currently, it falls to around her shoulders. Vanity keeps her from cutting it but practicality keeps her from letting it grow out more. Her eyes are a deep brown, as friendly as any canine’s.

Personality: From the time she could talk, Elae was taught how to get along with people. Friendly and open, she’s very outgoing, ready to strike up a chat about… well… anything. Except for the weather. Conversation about the weather is the refuge of those without talent. Mostly, she’s fairly laid-back and relaxed, content to simply drift along in life without thinking too much about something. She’s extremely optimistic, constantly seeing the good sides of things before considering the dark sides. Some people would consider her little more than a silly little air-fluff, but she has a cunning side.

She always thinks before jumping into something. Even as her mouth happily chatters away, her brain is always working, trying to figure out the angles. Unfortunately, the ‘angles’ she thinks of are usually, ‘now why would So-And-So be so eager to get away from the topic of Such-and-Such, hmmm? Could it be… there’s a dramatic love triangle between And-so-And and So-And-So and Such-and-Such?!’

She adores gossip. Really. Elae tends to ignore the probable for the 'possible-and-more-dramatic', which tends to cause trouble for her, especially with those who don't appreciate her prying into their private lives. She tries not to take this personally. After all, it's not like she's doing anything truly bad. In the cases where someone truly DOES get angry with her, she tries to fade into the background and pretend that nothing happened at all. If she just ignores it, that’s totally the same thing as apologizing, right?

If you ask her a question, you better make sure you really want an honest answer! Elae is bluntly honest; although she prefers to avoid hurting feelings, she recognizes that honesty is the best policy. Along these same lines, she’s quite outspoken. If she has a problem with someone, she will set out and talk to them about it. It’s really the only way anything gets solved anyway, right? It doesn’t really matter what the problem is. She’ll even go and talk to people about such subjects as, “Hey, by the way, I can totally hear you banging your new girlfriend. Mind keeping it down for me? Still, I’m glad she’s having a good time! 8D” regardless of how it might embarrass someone else.

Mostly, she prefers to be with other girls, since so few boys have an appreciation of what is 'truly important'. But, she certainly doesn't mind male companionship! Boys have their good sides; mostly, they tend to be less suspicious about her probing questions. Above all, she likes being in a group of people, preferably leading them on some sort of adventure. Everything is an adventure, from venturing into the kitchen wandering to the coast to search for firelizard eggs.
