This roleplay is between I, Insane Butterfly and Sayuri_Nitta. Please no posting without permission! Kay? THANKS. >3 ~Charlotte~It was becoming dusk. The sun was setting and the colors danced in the sky, orange clashing with pink and purple. The moon had already come out, claiming its spot in the evening sky. The birds were quieting there twitters while the crickets came out to begin their night time symphony, hidden amongst the grass, adding their chirping to the rustling leaves and the low croaks of bull frogs. A lightly colored mare could be seen in the midst of the small clearing, it wasn't evened out and there were plenty of places for things to lurk. But she stood, eyes closed and ears forward, letting the cool wind tangle her white mane and tail and the song of the begining night play in her mind.
Charlotte was wondering what it would be like to be tiny and visit with the crickets and have to hide from the croaking frogs with their sticky toungs. If she were tiny she would sleep in flowers...as long as they didn't close her in their petals. And she would be friends with the crickets, but then birds might try to eat her. By the time she was finished wondering what it would be like to be tiny she was thoroughly disgruntled by all of the things she would have to watch out for that it could just be rather horrible to be tiny and she was just peachy staying the size she was. She opened her eyes and huffed, a shiver running down her back.

Vatsa was picking his way home, walking slowly for the time being as the sun had travelled right across the sky and was begining to journey down behind the horizon. Night was fast coming and he knew that he would prefer to take shelter than continue travelling in the dark.
He scouted around him, making no attempt to be quiet on his hooves as he began tramping under the trees, searching for a good place to rest his legs. He sniffed the air as he went, noticing a strange scent that lingered, someone had passed this way fairly recently.
He stopped to listen, his head canting this way and that, his horn catching what light there was as he did so. He couldn't yet see anyone, and called out in a low voice.
'Anyone there?'

Charlotte very nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard a male voice call out and was pretty sure she herself had just squeeked. This was what she got for getting too caught up in her own mind and she really needed to stop. She teased the ones she knew for their heads but it was really hers that had the problem.
Charlie sniffed the air and noticed a faint scent that either hadn't been there before or she was just now noticing. Still shaking ever so slightly she peered around her, trodding in a thorough circle, and not seeing anyone. Yeah, that wasn't creepy. She leaned twards the trees abit. "H-hello?" She hated how her voice quivered but she couldn't shake the shivers that were rippling over her skin and muscles.

Vatsa realised that having a dark colouration meant he wasn't so easy to see as some in the gathering gloom, and he stepped out into a gap between the trees, looking for the source of the timid greeting.
'Hello?' he echoed, looking around for the mare (the voice certainly sounded female at any rate).
'I am not going to hurt you, I'm only a Unicorn..' he pushed aside a branch and saw her standing there.
'Hello..' he repeated, a smile on his face as he greeted her. 'I'm sorry if I scared you.'

Charlotte turned her head to the rusteling in the bushes and the male voice. She was shaking from her earlier fright and unsure of what was going to happen. When the figure appeared she noticed the stallion standing there, true to his word he was a unicorn. But did that really make him nice?
Charlotte wasn't really wary of the stallion any longer, just more of pondering in her head what a mean unicorn would be like before shaking her head. He was probably wondering why she'd been apparently staring at him. She cleared her throat blushing, knowing that he'd probably think her odd now to just stare. She really hadn't been though.... "Oh! Oh..its okay." She smiled a bit nervously then and gave him her name. "My name is Charlotte, but if you'd like to, you could call me Charlie." She blew tickling strands of hair from her face. "What might your name be?"

'Hello Charlotte.' Vatsa replied, still keeping the genial smile on his face. He did notice her staring but said nothing, merely raising his eyebrows with a grin.
'I'm Vatsa, what are you doing out here?' he asked, wondering if she was meeting someone this evening or if she was travelling as he was and had been caught out by the gathering night. She certainly didn't sound bold enough to be travelling on her own.
He walked over and bumped his nose against hers, sniffing her gently and then nosing at her mane before moving a step or two back.

Charlotte was calming down, now that she was sure he wasn't going to be running her through with his horn, and returned his smile with one of her own.
"Out here?" Charlotte looked around, momentarily forgetting where she was. It was night fall now and everything was dark and quiet. She felt like she should whisper, so her voice was a smidge quieter when she spoke next. "Just thinking about things. Pondering thoughts others usually shake from their heads the moment they think them."
She was smiling a bit more now and sniffed at Vatsa in return when he sniffed her. A faint spicy sent met her nose and she decided that he smelled nice. She had no idea how she smelled though and hoped she at least didn't smell bad. When he stepped away she grinned fully. "It is so nice to meet you Vatsa!"

'Yes, out here, on your own, in the growing dark.' Vatsa chuckled. Maybe as he'd previously thought she'd lost track of time. Which was okay if you were near your home but he was sure they weren't in anyones territory.
He flicked his ears, straining to catch her whispering words against the noise of the slowly moving leaves around them.
'It's nice to meet you as well, what I can see of you.' he replied, tilting his head up as something winged whirred close by over head. A bat? He looked back at the mare.
'What sort of thoughts?' he asked, shifting on the spot, his braided tail flicking a little.

Charlotte blinked at the stallion and tilted her head. What sort of thoughts? No one was ever interested in such things and she wasn't sure she wanted to share them. Would he judge her for having a wondering thought process, or think her foal-like?
"You are the first soquili I have come across whom has asked me that. Now I am faced with sharing my thoughts and I wonder how I will be judged." Her face got a quizzical look upon it, briefly pondering this minor delima.
"I suppose that this could be the only chance I get so, why not?" Charlie laughed softly at herself and started blushing furiously before she even told him what shed been thinking.
"I-I had been thinking about what it might....might be like to be small and tiny like the crickets." She was now looking into the grass around their hooves. "I quickly realized though that I could get stepped on or eaten and decided I much rather liked being this size. Now I won't be getting eaten by a sharp-beaked bird."
Her cheeks were on fire from her own thoughts. Like stated previously she had never told anyone what she was thinking of. Shyly now, she glanced up at him through her white bangs that covered her eyes from hanging her face.

'Oh?' Vatsa wondered why that was, surely the mare had family of some kind that cared what she was thinking, or was interested in her thoughts no matter what they were.
'Judged?' he queried this time, and shook his head lightly. 'No judgment here, I barely know you, so judging you would be uncharitable at this point.'
He listened quietly to her words, noting her discomfort as she was talking. It was slightly unusual but it was just a flight of fancy, a whimsical musing about being other than she was. He supposed that every daydreamed, though lately his had been more about finding happiness in another than anything beyond the ordinary.
'If you were that small than yes, it would be a danger. I'm sure no one would want you to be squished or eaten.' Vatsa said with a little chuckle.

"No, I should think not." Charlotte smiled at Vatsa, realizing she hadn't been judged and it made her feel so much elated. It was rather kind of him to not think her mental, though she herself was half convinced of it. "At least, one would hope no one wants me squished." She said this mostly to herself but realized it was rather silly as she didn't know many others and her family surely wouldn't wish such a fate for her...she shook it from her mind.
"What of you, Vatsa?" She inquired with pep, "Why are you out here, in the growing night, on your own?" Her purple eyes happily sought out and found his blue ones, wanting to hear what he had to say and not miss any of it as she often applied herself to such things that caught her interest.

'Well I've met you, and I think I can safely say I wouldn't want you squished. You're too pretty to be squished.' he said in his most flattering tones. Vatsa had a feeling that the mare was lacking a little in self-confidence from how she'd talked.
'I was on my home actually, nothing terribly interesting. But I decided to spend the night under the trees, under shelter. So that was fortuitous for me, it's always nice to have company during the night.' he said with a faint grin, and a casual swish of his braided tail.

Charlotte's eyes widened at Vatsa's words as a light blush spread over her cheek bones. She was 'to pretty to be squished'. She'd always thought herself good-looking and surely her mother and father had called her pretty before, but it was a whole other thing for this new soquili to say as such. It made her feel warm and fuzzy. She smiled then at Vatsa. "Its rather pleasant to hear you wouldn't want me squished." She ended that with a giggle.
"Oh, I'm sure I can accompany you if that's what you're wanting." Charlie looked around her into the darkness and nodded. "It seems it would be safest to stay with you given I'm prone to wandering and might get mauled or eaten by a skinwalker or kalona." She shivered at the thought and peered back at Vatsa. "Yes, it would be best." She grinned again.

'Yes? Why's that then?' Vatsa said, peering at her in the gathering gloom. He thought he detected a hint of colouring on her face, and he wondered if his comments had made her blush.
His eyebrows raised slightly, and he chuckled quietly. 'Do I look that strong that I could defend you from either of those?' he asked, faintly amused. He was prepared to defend himself, and of course anyone who needed it in his company but he was no great shakes at fighting.
'What's that saying? I'm a lover, not a fighter..well unless absolutely necessary.'

Charlotte smiled Vatsa's lack of wanting to fight away. Who would want to fight? Surely she wouldn't, as she wouldn't stand a fair chance at even a regular raging soquili. She too was one to keep peace, if possible. Unless of course she'd been insulted, then she'd probably have something to say about that. She shook her head.
Bright purple/pink eyes looked tward Vatsa again and shook her head at his question. "No!...Yes!..I mean..." She blushed with spluttering confusion, trying to explain herself. "I mean, I am sure that you could hold your own but I meant..ah, there is strength in numbers?" She had probably succeeded in damaging his ego. "or that its better to be with someone else than be alone?" Both of those sounded rather like what she'd been meaning to say. She hadn't meant for it to sound as if shed offered him to protect her, that wouldn't be nice.
