H'war do you know what you got into? Character Name: H’war (Hwarrix) Age: 32 Sexual Orientation: Not Interested (Though he definitely does NOT want to catch the gay!) Craft/Rank: Wingrider
History: Hwarrix was born to a pair of fishers. His mother did work aboard a ship until her children were born; he was the second of two boys. It was expected Hwarrix and his brother would take up after their parents once they were old enough, so their childhood was often spent learning skills they could employ later, such as knot work and trying to judge the weather. Not much time was spent on the ability to read, and that was something Hwarrix did not learn until he had Impressed, but that doesn’t come until later.
For all his hard work, Hwarrix did not actually end up fishing for very long at all. After only his second trip, he was Searched. While his father was not particularly convinced this was a Good Life Choice (after all, what if the boy didn’t Impress? Where would that leave him?), Hwarrix decided he liked the prospect of riding. After all, Malvern was all but on the ocean, so it wasn’t like he was going to get homesick.
But he didn’t Impress. Turns went by, and still, Hwarrix didn’t Impress. It wasn’t long until he began to fear his father’s assumptions about his chances at becoming a dragon rider were spot on. He went about his candidate work, but with a little more flippant attitude than he’d arrived with. If he acted like he didn’t care, then no one would know exactly how worried he was, right? But all his concern was for not, because sometime during his twentieth Turn, big brown Raxelth pushed him over and demanded to know what that sulky look was all about, anyways.
Weyrling training was not easy for H’war. The dragon care wasn’t particularly difficult, even if his dragon was rather demanding, but the bit about learning to read and write really threw him for a loop. He chooses, to this day, to avoid anything involving literature if he can help it. H’war didn’t really excel until they were allowed off the ground; nothing gave a boy an adrenaline rush like flying on his dragon. After graduation came a life a little less exciting than H’war would have liked, but still. It’s probably better than working with smelly fish. He’s never taken a weyrmate (why would he want one?) and while H’war aspires to rise to the rank of Wingsecond (okay, it would be a lie he doesn’t dream of becoming a Wingleader, but even H’war knows you need to take it one step at a time), and actually puts a lot of effort into wing practice, for what it’s worth. Hard work got him Raxelth, didn’t it?
Description: H’war is of average height and of the leaner variety. His hair is honey-blond and appears to be made entirely of cowlicks. No matter what he does to try and tame it, H’war’s hair sticks out at odd angles, as though it’s been cut badly. Unfortunately, he doesn’t like it cut very short, either, so he tends to try to ignore it. His eyes are green and he has strong facial lines, without any facial hair. The rider likes to dress well, there’s no point in being see in anything shoddy. While H’war likes colors, there aren’t really enough occasions for him to own anything that colorful. He doesn’t wear jewelry or accessories, but he always seems to be wearing his boots and his riding goggles around his neck.
Personality: H’war is the brawns without the brain sort, to put it frankly. He’s certainly not an idiot, but he struggles with reading and writing and tends to avoid more philosophical conversations. To be honest, H’war is much more interested in the here and now; long term is very hard for him to picture, which tends to hinder any romantic inclinations he’s ever felt…which isn’t very many, to be completely honest. Or any. At all. It requires a lot of thought, and he’d much prefer to be doing something than considering it. H’war is much more concerned with Raxelth and their ability to perform.
While H’war is ambitious, his inability to forecast and plan ahead tends to put a damper on his plans to eventually become someone’s loyal Wingsecond. And he is loyal, H’war can work tirelessly towards his goal, once he finds one. The brunette does become insecure easily, and tends to require a lot of prompting, though he refuses to ask. Long term action-reaction tend to escape his notice, and he can be prone to making the same mistake over…and over…and over.
While we’ve already stated that romance and sexuality tend to escape H’war as a whole, he knows, for a fact, he wants absolutely nothing to do with men in that fashion. While the Weyr is accepting, he is not, and those riders over there can be gay if they want to, but they had better not give the gay to him, got it? He’s got important things to be doing!

Raxelth things are about to get rough for you Name: Raxelth Age: 12 Color: Brown
Personality: H’war might not be a thinker, but Raxelth is more than happy to be the planner behind his rider’s ambitions. Oh, his memory might be much shorter than average, but so is H’war’s, so it all works out in the end. Even with his memory faulting him, Raxelth is still an ambitious boy, even borderline aggressive with his plans to get somewhere with life. He’ll often toe the line, but at the end of the day, Raxelth would never break the rules or put his rider in harm’s way. He respects those in charge, even if he often disagrees, he’ll still yield. Raxelth knows exactly who’s who in the Weyr (and isn’t shy about bossing others around if he can get away with it).
While this brown is mouthy and ambitious, you could even argue he’s ruder than average, he isn’t cruel nor does he have any desire to cause anyone mental or physical pain. Even if someone wrongs him, Raxelth wouldn’t look to get revenge (even if his memory was long enough). He is friendly, and talkative, and he does not shy away from striking up a conversation with anyone in the vicinity. He isn’t easily intimidated nor is he easy to deter, but be forewarned, if you decide to speak with him, he’s liable to ask for your name at least twice and repeat himself often enough to get on anyone’s nerves.
Flights are a tricky thing for Raxelth. Oh, the females certainly catch his attention, but Flights are the one thing H’war will fight over his dragon with. The rider just has no interest in that sort of relationship, but Raxelth really, really wants some tail! He likes girls (even beyond the Flight part, he finds greens the best to chat with), but H’war seems to have a heart attack every time Raxelth gives chase. What if that dragon has a male rider!? Unfortunately for H’war, it seems like a new argument every time; Raxelth’s memory might be short, but his rider can’t help but wonder if it’s not just a little bit selective, too.
