The courtyard is a big open area in the middle of the Barracks.
There is a large pond in the middle and beautiful Sakura trees all around.
This is where you can relax after a hard days training, or a stressful Captain's meeting.

"This is new." Diesel looked around as he walked up behind Topaz. He was staring around at the new squad 2 with mild interest. He'd abandoned his captain's robes somewhere along the way and was wearing a simple shihakusho "Very nice." he glanced at Topaz for a moment then "So. How are you going to handle your members when they arrive finally?"

He chuckled at her response, liking how truthful this new captain was, and ran a hand through his hair "You are so very different from the last captain. The one before Soi-Fon, I mean." he did a little twist, taking in the barracks again and the full courtyard, before stopping infront of Topaz again "Would you like some advice? I have lots of expierence in such matters." he slipped his hands into his pockets and waited.

Diesel started to speak then paused, thinking he'd made a mistake somewhere "Ah. After Soi-fon, I mean." he frowned, unnerved by the mistake, but brushed it off before speaking again "My advice is very simple. Don't treat your members like they're lower than you, unless you have to." he smiled at her "Its something I practice everyday. By treating them as equals, you creat a bond of trust that is very hard to break." Diesel tilted his head forward for a moment then looked up again "You don't have alot of chances to enjoy the idea of a family in this life, where so many of us die in battle. So your squad should be your family. Thats my advice."

 Further out in the court yards near orange chrysanthemums a woman bent over to smell the beautiful flowers their scent were so pleasant and nostalgic. Io stood back up and ran her fingers through the stray strands of hair hanging in her face and moved them behind her left ear. "It's...been too long." She said softly and sighed as she continued to look at the flowers that had been left in the Courtyard that she had planted hundreds of years ago when she once was here.

Diesel felt a chill on his back and he whirled, hand going instantly to his sword, scowling What's this...feeling? I feel like somethings...there. with a cursory glance around the courtyard, he spotted the intruder and shunpo'd over. His sword was half way out of its sheath before he saw her face and he froze, the color draining from his face "I-Io?"

She stopped smelling the flowers and stood up from her squatting position. Io looked over Diesel's face for a moment then replied, "Hello Diesel, long time no see." Her tender face had a healthy glow to it as she stood in front of him in a slightly altered uniform.

"Don't 'hello' me, Io. What are you doing here?" he finished withdrawing his sword and kept it at his side, his face dark as he stared at her. Despite the singing joy in his heart, he simply couldn't afford to trust her just yet "You're supposed to be dead, gone. All the old Captain's are."

Io stood and only looked into Diesel's eyes, "I am aware we are all supposed to be dead. But the Soul King assigned Ryuta to kill me from my understanding and Ryuta couldn't bear to do that." She grasped the cloth on her shirt squeezing it tight, "So instead of killing me he removed my soul chain and stayed with me until the encroachment process ended. After that he knocked me out and took me to Hueco Mundo and put a barrier on me so no Shinigami could attack me. I was destined to live my life as a hollow." Io stopped to smile, "But as you can see I was able to become an arrancar of my own will. Ryuta made sure my memories stayed in tact. I am surprised how the little guy was able to bare that pain and burden all of these years..."
Her delicate hand moved towards Diesel and she rest it upon the hand holding his sword, "So Diesel you still the King's Pawn in this world?" A sigh accompanied her statement as she pulled out from her pocket a piece of candied Orange.

I'm going to flay that runty little-! Diesel swallowed back some anger at Ryuta not telling him anything "Yes. Well you always were progressive." his grip tightened on his sword when she touched him and he closed his eyes, swallowing "You'll be happy to know you're not the only one who's being progressive." he gave her a crooked smile and his sword tip rested on the ground "The Soul King's dead and he's placed me as his replacement."

Io's eyes widened greatly, "What, how can he be dead the Soul King is the strongest being known to man!" The following words made her push back away from Diesel, "You are the Soul King now? What of Ryuta what happened to him?" Io knew now that this reunion was going to be short lived since the one she loved is now exactly the one she must fear.
