Ili'ella was still reeling from the fact she had a family now, though she had grown used to the presence of her six cubs. Two had left with their father, and she had mourned the loss of them, though she knew Teleza would care for them and love them as much as she would, or she hoped he would, else she would not be happy with him.

Eight cubs, she mused, watching the tiny bodies of the lion cubs snooze peacefully under a nearby tree. She had settled herself nearby, to watch over them and make sure no predators would approach. If they did, she was on her own, but she wouldn't let anyone touch her babies, no! They were her family, her children, and she wouldn't allow harm to come of them.

"Sleep my little angels,
" she sung softly to herself, "I will watch and keep, all those beasties from your bed, while you dream." She began to hum, the tune unfamiliar but soothing, as it filled the savanna air. It was daytime, fast approaching afternoon but the cubs were still young, so they needed to rest.

Tafuki had been peacefully dreaming when she felt a sudden, painful pinch in her ear. A fly had decided that her blood would be rather tasty and was making a feast of it. Whimpering softly, the cyan and white cub blinked awake, shaking her head to try and rid the fly from her body. Still it stuck, and again another pinch was felt as it lapped at her tender ears blood. Whimpering again, the little lioness began to cry softly, trying her best not to wake the others up. Why did she have to be attacked like this?

Sniffling and whimpering the little lioness endured the pain before again shaking her head, this time with so much force she was sure she could feel her brain hit the sides of her head. "Oooooowwwwww.... Get ouuuut!!!" Still the fly stayed, this time biting her out of annoyance causing her to scream out.

"Mommmmmaaaaaa!! Mooommmaaa!!!" She was now sobbing, something the little lioness tried her best not to do. A princess never sobbed, they sniffled and teared up a little, but never sobbed. Pawing at her ear, Tafuki tried all she could to rid herself of the evil bug, but it seemed nothing short of it getting its way would work. Glancing at her siblings, Tafuki couldn't help but feel a little jealous. They were all still sleeping soundly. Was it her pelt? Did that attract the misfortune to her?

"Why am I the only weird one! I hate being me, nothing loves meeeee!! MOOOMMAAAAAA!!!" Now clawing and pulling at her ear as the pinching increased, Tafuki was just about hysterical. A typical childish move for someone young and in pain.

Ili'ella had heard faint whimpers coming from her babies nearby, but shrugged off the first few noises as them merely shifting and irritating each other whilst asleep, but the sound of Tafuki's cry sent her heart pounding with fear. She'd lept to her paws before she'd even thought twice, rushing over to her babies to see her darling blue girl crying out for her and trying to dislodge something from her ear.

"Hush, hush baby," Ili'ella tried to soothe, reaching over to grasp her by the nape of her neck, pulling her out of the rest of the cubs, and settling her a little way away, so as to try not to disturb the others too much. "It's okay, my little darling, Momma's here," she continued to soothe, licking her daughter's cheek before trying to see what was causing the distress in her little one.

Spying the fly, she scowled. How dare it hurt her baby? "Tilt your head, beautiful," she encouraged. "Tilt it towards me, and Momma will get rid of the nasty bug."

The sound of her daughter's histeria tugged at her heart painfully. She never wanted them to be hurt! Never! She knew she could not assure that, but what kind of mother would she be if she did not at least try and spare them all the hardships of the world?

Tafuki had barely noticed her mother's presence, the bugs biting keeping her occupied and making sure she only focused on that. However, as soon as she was grasped by the nape of the neck and pulled away from her siblings did Tafuki finally realize she was being cared for. Peeping one bright mint colored eye open, she watched her mother, then sniffled as the bug irritated her again. However, she was quiet, hopeful even. Her mother would be able to fix her problem. Her mother could do anything in her little mind.

"Momma..." Closing her eyes to the soothing over her mother voice and tongue over her cheek. Little white body shuddering slightly as big tears feel from her eyes. She had to be quiet for her mothers magic to work. It was so very hard though! The pain. Oh it hurt! Why did the mean fly have to pick such a tender, unreachable spot?

Whimpering softly, Tafuki did what her mother said, trying her best to be still and also quiet. However it was just getting harder with the pain, and sitting still was a major hassle for her as well. Would her mother be able to fix this problem? She hoped.. she hoped she hoped she hoped. Who else would she seek help from if her momma could fix it?

Ili’ella felt absolutely terrible at the sounds of her daughter’s obvious distress, so she acted quickly once the cub listened to her, tilting her head to the side and exposing her ear. She could see the fly, deep in the ear, and scowled. If it had been closer to the ear, she would have been able to grab it in her mouth and tug it out – and would be allowed the pleasure of eating it, even – but it was too far it, it seemed.

Momma’s here, baby,” she whispered, to sooth Tafuki before attempting to remove the bug. She couldn’t reach it with her claw, as she’d risk injuring her precious girl, and getting it with her mouth was out of the question.

She put her mouth close to the cub’s ear and huffed out a deep steady breath, the gust of wind hopefully discouraging the bug from it’s spot latched into her precious daughter’s ear.
