The irony of the event not working almost makes me stop and wonder for a moment if the event itself isn't imaginary, made up just to ******** with us and that the link was only ever intended to take us to a 404 message. By the way, any 03ers remember the sushi error message?
I know it isn't though. I saw a link that appeared well after the wee hours in the morning that pictured a black and white picture of Edmund and something that looked like a broken link below it. Of course it was gone, as expected when I refresh.
It is for that reason that I believe that there is some sort of event. After all, when was the last time a Gaia event worked when they released it? No, really, I'm asking.

Case in point? That is the event. A broken link. Cause it's like the old Gaia... You know when you got the sushi errors... See its, like... Y'know, funny cause... That doesn't happen any more but they're making it seem like it... Like it does... Ha ha ha?
Yes. They've outdone themselves when it comes to sheer, overwhelming (for lack of a better word) lameness.
I mean it is Gaia. I wasn't terribly disappointed, nor surprised, really because... Well, let's face it. Was I expecting something clever, witty, or wonderful? Were you? Still though I am annoyed.
That think that I talked about above was legitimate. In the numerous posts about it not working, one of them said that if you took the trouble to log out and back in you would see a picture of Edmund (that broken link that I talked about) but it still wouldn't take you to anywhere other than the error. If this is true then as lame as the joke is, it's made many times worse still by Gaia's failure to properly tell it. A new standard has been set for failure. Or perhaps more accurately, the standard of the first day of Halloween last year was met... That's hard to top in terms of the hardest fail, ever.

Oh, word on that... Supposedly there is some sort of zOMG April Fool's event. No word on what, though, and I haven't confirmed it, yet.

EDIT: I may not be able to confirm it for a while. The servers are "Down for Maintainance." Think it's a joke? It's almost as funny as the other one.

EDIT: It's slightly before 4 pm, now, same day. They've evidently forgotten some of there very best knee-slappers of jokes so they re-released the announcement. How close that we almost missed out on their wit! How tragic that would have been. So far their creative process seems to be this:
1. Take a concept that is lame at best and mirthlessly irritating.
2. Make a joke out of it but fail to deliver it in a spasm of unintended irony.
3. Go ahead and try to tell it again, your fake advice trying to convince users that they are the asshats here, and not you, thereby running the joke already bad joke into the ground.
4-1-2010. Never forget.

I missed the event completely... But based on this, I don't mind one bit.
