It was early in the morning and Tsun flipped out of his hammock landing on the jungle floor. The young cub looked around, it looked like rain again, he shrugged and moved towards a river that was close by.

Tsun was light on his feet as he sped through the jungle, little droplets falling on him here and there. The jungle was complex and confusing, when his father first brought him here he got lost quite a few times but now he was beginning to get it under control.

At last the brightly colored lion made it to the edge of the water and dipped his head down to take a long drink. It was refreshing and cool. After quenching his thirst the little cub sat on the edge of the water wondering what he should do next.

Txur, naturally an early riser, had been putting his time to good use. There wasn't really any sun to be seen through the jungle canopy, but for just a quick trip to the river he didn't really need to see too well. Even a blind lion would be able to hear the water running and make their way to its shore. Despite their pale coloration, there was nothing wrong with Txur's eyes, and so he found his way from his hammock to the river with minimal difficulty.

Once he got there, Txur lingered. He'd originally intended to return to his hammock and see if he could squeeze in a few more minutes' slumber, since he'd woken early even by his standards, but just as he was about to turn back a droplet of water landed between his eyes. Instinctively he crossed them, trying to make sure that it was, indeed, water that had struck him and not something more dangerous. He was still learning about the dangers inherent in this place, even though it felt like he'd lived in the jungle with the People his entire life, and he wanted to be certain that whatever had hit him was not poisonous or otherwise dangerous.

As subsequent drops began to hit him, Txur decided it had to be rain, unless he'd been set upon by a very strange breed of insect, which seemed highly unlikely. There was no way he'd be able to sleep through the sound of rain falling. The tattoo it beat on the leaves kept him awake. Which meant he was awake for good it seemed. Heaving a melodramatic sigh, he found a crossing point and made his way to the other side of the river. The crossing took a while, and by the time he made it he could see one of his siblings approaching.

Txur went very still and watched Tsun drink. He waited as quietly as he could, twitching only a very little. He was too small to jump across the river and pounce on his brother, but he could still surprise him. Without emerging from his hiding place, Txur tried to make his voice sound like an adult's and called sternly, "Who goes there?"

Tsun froze, the voice sounded like it was serious but the young cub found himself wondering who would be in the jungles that would mean him any harm, the jungles were a friendly place.

The brightly colored cub looked around, searching for the source of the voice. The wind picked up mildly in the jungle and moved some leaves on the other side of the river, and that's when he saw the tell tail fur that could belong to none other then one of his siblings.

The young cub giggled, excited to see one of his siblings, siblings meant play time! "TXUR!" he yelled, "Why did you try to scare me like that." Tsun did his best to sound upset but really he didn't mind, it was just a good start to a game.

Tsun eyed the river, he was one of the largest of his siblings, but he wasn't sure that he could make it across the river, he walked up and down the river looking for something to cross. He smiled when he saw rocks, rocks that could be like stepping stones. Being as graceful as a young cub could be, Tsun jumped from rock to rock, he only slipped a few times feeling his paw dip into the river. At last he made it to the other side of the river and he galloped towards his brother.

Txur watched with glee as his brother froze for a moment, apparently fooled by his little game. He wasn't sure what else he would want to say in his not-Txur voice, but it had been funny to see Tsun's reaction. It turned out not to matter that he didn't know what to say next, since the treacherous wind picked up and exposed him. His coat was distinctive, like all his siblings'. There was no denying that any of them were Rajanya's cubs, which made him proud, though the very pale coloring of Falk, Mokri, and Tompatsko'ite gave him cause to think their mother had been white.

When Tsun called him out he thrust his head out from among the leaves and grinned widely. Only another big cat could have called that sharp-toothed grin good-humored, but that was how it was intended. Txur was cheerful and in a good mood, even if it was raining on him. He didn't mind being rained on as long as he wasn't trying to sleep. There were always places he could go that were warm and dry if he wanted to escape the water. He was young enough, however, and his mane short enough that being wet was really no bother, and dancing between raindrops was a great diversion.

"Sorry!" Txur called back to his brother. "Be careful crossing the rocks - they're slippery!"

The warning was undoubtedly unnecessary. By virtue of being located in a river they were bound to be wet, even if it wasn't raining. The rain just presented an extra challenge. A distraction, as it were, from the required concentration of leaping from stone to stone. It crossed the young lion's mind briefly that he should probably learn to swim sometime. He wouldn't always be lucky enough not to fall in, and it would be fun to learn, he thought. Another raindrop striking his nose distracted him from the idea, though.

He disentangled himself from the foliage where he'd hidden from Tsun before just as he heard his brother's galloping approach. Bad timing on his part, for he had no time to dodge out of the way, and if Tsun's paws landed on a slippery leaf, or he simply credited his brother with faster reflexes than he actually had, there'd be a collision. Having no other obvious recourse, Txur yelped a warning and scrambled ineffectively on the slippery detritus. It granted him no purchase.

"Ai!" was his loquacious warning. He didn't even manage, "Watch out."

Tsun giggled as he felt him and his brother sliding around on the wet jungle floor. He was mildly concerned that the two of them would slip down the bank and into the river. Unlike his brother Tsun had found time to practice swimming here and there, but he wasn't anywhere near good enough to survive a tumble into the river. All the places he had tried swimming were shallow with little to no current, much unlike the river he was at now, fast moving and deep.

After rolling for quite sometime, Tsun managed to find his paws beneath him. He pulled himself up off his brother and looked around. He back off slightly wanting to give his brother some room to collect himself.

"So brother" he began, "What should we do with ourselves today?" Tsun looked around, there was a whole jungle to explore, so much to do, see, explore and learn, Tsun wanted to know it all.

"We could explore further into the jungle, its so big I know there are parts that I haven't seen yet. I want to know the jungle like the back of my own hand!" he was getting excited, which was evident because as he spoke his voice got louder and louder.

Txur squealed and laughed as they rolled around, getting thoroughly wet. Like his brother, he was mindful of their proximity to the river, but he wasn't overly concerned. He didn't feel that there was any great risk. In the way of the young, Txur was pretty thoroughly convinced of his own invincibility. He knew there were dangers in the world, of course, but he was convinced that he could evade or conquer them if necessary. So far his upbringing had not lent itself much to conquest, but for him a conquest would be to befriend someone.

When they broke apart Txur rolled to his feet and then burst out in laughter as he looked at his brother, covered in detritus and wet all over. He glanced down at himself and saw that he looked much the same. Their caretakers would be thrilled, he thought with a childish grasp of irony. Idly he used one paw to try to brush some of the pieces of moss and partially-decayed leaves from his forelegs. It wasn't terrifically effective, since his paws were just as dirty as the rest of him.

Txur's laughter tired itself out eventually and he listened to Tsun's question. He had a few ideas of his own about what they could do, but he listened to Tsun's suggestion willingly. He was happy to do whatever would make his brother happy. And more quiet. As his brother's volume rose Txur's ears lay flat against his skull.

"Hsst!" he hissed, trying to silence his brother while simultaneously trying not to laugh at how his brother's exuberance made him get loud. "If you make someone up and they're grumpy we won't get to go exploring. They'll make us go to the babysitters."

He didn't mind being minded by people other than his father, but some days he'd rather do something different. Today was shaping up to be one of those days. Because it was raining the nursery would conduct its activities indoors and they'd be less than thrilled with him for showing up covered in dirt from the forest floor. It would be better, he thought without much foresight, not to show up and to explore with Tsun instead. And besides, he reasoned, this way neither he nor Tsun would be alone in the jungle, which was something that always distressed the grown-ups.

Tsun imediately bit his tounge when his brother pointed out that if someone heard him then there would be trouble, and no exploration. Tsun loved feeling as if her were a great explorer and learning more about the jungle that he hadn't known before. The cub rose to his feet shaking off the remainder of the debree from the role he had had with his brother.

"OK we will be quite till we get further away from the settlement." he whispere. He looked around and picked a direction that he and his brother would travel in. He tried to make it seem like there was purpose behind his decision but really he just had a random inclination to travel in the direction.

He began to walk, turning back only for a breif second, "Come on lets go, this is going to be awesome." he whispered happily. Once he was sure that his bother was following closely, he began to gallop away having vines and leaves hit him in the face as he ran.

Txur had no preference as to direction when it came to exploration. All of them were interesting as far as he was concerned. Even exploring the main area of the pride's lands would be interesting to him, though it was unlikely they'd succeed in doing that. There were entirely too many adults around who would see a pair of cubs needing to be returned to the nursery rather than a pair of intrepid explorers. So he was a little relieved when Tsun chose a direction which would not lead immediately back to the settlement.

He set off after his brother wearing a slight smile. He had serious doubts that Tsun could be quiet for as long as it would take them to get to the outskirts of the main area, let alone into unexplored territory. He didn't love his brother any less for it, but he was amused by it. He took a little more care than Tsun as he ran through the foliage, which slowed him down. He didn't lose sight of his brother - doing so would have taken effort anyway, given the siblings' coloration and the noise he made as he charged ahead - and so he was not concerned to fall behind. For the time being he was not feeling competitive and he was definitely uninterested in being struck in the face by wet leaves and vines.

"Mrr..." he grumbled as he found himself getting thwacked by the plants anyway. It was impossible to travel at the speed he was and not have to contend with plants that fought back. He didn't appreciate their wet and stinging touch, despite the inevitability.

After a time they passed out of the area with which Txur was familiar and he slowed more, calling to his brother so that Tsun wouldn't continue on without him. He could only imagine how much trouble he'd get in if he managed to lose his brother. Not to mention the embarrassment of possibly getting lost. Which reminded him that he was now in unfamiliar territory and he should take care to observe his surroundings so that he wouldn't become lost and unable to get home.

"This place is new to me," he said. He couldn't hear the sound of running water, though the rain might have been to blame for some of that. "Is it a good place to start exploring?"

Tsun had been running full speed through the jungle, not only was he making a great deal of noise but he was managing to get hit with what must have been every branch along the way. He tried to continue to shake it off as he made his way. Exploring was fun, and with his brother it could be a real adventure.

When Tsun heard his brother's voice he slowed and looped back around, realizing that this indeed was a new place, the cub had gotten so wrapped up in his running, that he had forgotten to start exploring. Coming up to his brother the purple cub was panting slightly, "Sorry I was running, and it was fun." he offered a simple explanation.

Looking around the jungle Tsun wondered where to start, there was so many things that should be explored and he really couldn't decide where to start. The eyes finally settled on a group of fallen trees, some of them were allow and they created a large little play ground of unexplored mess.

"Thats it, that is what we should explore first, I bet there is a whole bunch of area that we could call around and look into, there may be other creatures and we have to o it before we grow becuase we will be too big later on." He galloped over to the fallen trees not waiting to see if his brother was interested as well.

Txur's grin was toothy and genuine. To a prey animal, it probably would have been terrifying, but he had never worried about it. His experiences tended to be with predators, and they were never intimidated by his sharp teeth bared in a grin.

"It's fine. I like running, too. It's really fun. Getting hit with things while I'm running isn't, though."

He shook his head and twitched his ears furiously, convinced that there was something - a leaf maybe - stuck to the top of his head. "Feh. Is there something on my head?"

"Silly question. I'm covered in...well, everything, aren't I?" He giggled.

His gaze followed his brother's and his eyes lit up. That looked like a perfect place to explore. "That's a great idea, Tsun."

As he followed his brother he asked idly, "Do you think we're still within the boundaries of the pride? I mean, the pridelands have to be pretty big, right?"

He didn't mean to be obsessed with the pride. It was just the way he was. He loved his pride and being part of it, just as he loved his family. Most of his thoughts were about his family or his pride or both, and so for him that kind of question probably wasn't completely out of the ordinary or even random.

Tsun wasn't as worried about the boundries of the pride really till his brother had said something. He looked around and wondered... "You know I don't know." he suddenly found himself a little worried. He enjoyed exporing but at the same time he didn't want to get lost or get in trouble.

"Maybe, just to be safe we should head back towads the camps." he said lightly. He didn't want his brother to think that he was a scardy cat but well he was now a little worried now.

Tsun began to bouncing around, the travel home was bound to be just as much fun as the travel out here..... it would be an adventure just to make sure they got back to the right place and not lost in the jungle.

"That sounds like a really good idea," Txur said, agreeing maybe a little too quickly.

He couldn't think of anything worse than being lost in the dense forest that surrounded the pride, and since he didn't recognize his surroundings and it felt as though he had run for a long time it seemed entirely likely that he might have left the pride lands. It didn't cross his mind that adult lions, larger and with more stamina, could run until they were winded and longer before reaching the borders of the pride. He thought they'd come a long way.

"Do you want to lead, or should I?" he asked, glancing over his shoulder, thinking that was probably the direction they'd come from. Unless he'd turned around at some point after they stopped. Or they changed direction while running. He couldn't remember if they'd run in a straight line to get here. Worrisome thoughts, those.

"I hope we don't get in trouble," he murmured, convincing himself that the problem wouldn't be getting home, but dealing with the grown-ups once they got there. It was reassuring.

Tsun smiled his sense of direction was quite good, he wasn't worried about getting home. He knew that they would find the way. It wasn't quite noon yet the sun wasn't quite overhead they had been heading away from the sun's horizon when they left the camps, they should still head in the direction.

"I will lead" Tsun announced proudly he knew just the way to go and was ready to lead his brother home. "This way" he announced. He walked tall and proud as he led the way.

"I am glad we got away for a little while together." Tsun said turning back to look at his brother.
