The ground had started its yearly thaw and the muck was starting to annoy him. Stormy colored ankles down to gold colored hooves were covered in the stuff. Gritting his teeth, the wind stallion slopped through it wings shaking themselves as one whole side of his body was encrusted in mud, twigs and thawing leaves. He had already managed to get the muck somewhat out of his wing feathers, in the process losing a few that didn't get him into better spirits either. "Why in spirits name does this stuff have to be a mess EVERY SPRING!" he shouts the last words as his braided tail was a mess as well.
Golden eyes searched the landscape for a source of water flowing enough to wash the mud away from his pelt. Stopping a moment, Pyry lifted his head to the air seeing if her could 'smell' water, but there was water everywhere. It was in the ground and bubbling up around him in pools of mud. Stomping the ground, he groaned, ears laying back against his skull, he hated spring, loving the coldness of winter and all its trappings. To some degree, he wished it lasted all year long instead of just a few short moons.

Snow Gem looks positively miserable like her family since annual spring thaw is a mortal enemy of her father's side of the family since it messes with their pristine appearance. Lifting one of her legs out of the muck while stifling a groan, Snow Gem slowly moves toward the lake she knows that will be there and will definitely be her lifesaver. Her tail and rump is completely covered with sticky mud with some leaves and sticks here and there since she slipped and fell down in one 'hidden' puddle. With determination glinting in her eyes, Snow Gem continues to move through the mucky 'wonderland' but she froze when she heard an angry male voice yelling at someone about the thaw.
Her light purple eyes squints as she is already fighting the exhaustion since she have been bogging through this muck for HOURS trying to get to the exclusive lake. Snow Gem managed to get to one small dry spot as she peers at the stunning frost-storm colored wind stallion, she allowed herself few minutes of admiring him before she intentionally made noises to draw his attention. "At least you have wings, stallion." A soft feminine voice escapes Snow Gem as she calls out to Pyry. "Its all part of the cycle, it seems.." She looks down at her mud-covered legs in askance. "But I do know this lake that we can go to that will help.." She smiles at Pyry. "I am Snow Gem by the way.."

Con-fuddled in his his own mess of mud and muck, he neglected to notice that someone else was trudging though the junk. Turning his head some, white mane hanging kinda slick with mud caked onto the long strands. If someone were to look closely at at his face, his markings almost make it seem like he was crying. Someone else was there, searching the tree line, he noticed a mare coming out from the shadows and perching herself on a small patch of dry ground.
"That I do have wings, but they don't work when the feathers are unable to pull apart." He grinned, voice a bit chilly as he stepped over towards the mare. His hooves pulling from thick patches of mud, caking it thicker about his hooves and ankles, this would take weeks to wash off. "But hey, can't have everything when the season chooses to wet itself and cause a great big mess, now can we?" He still grinned as if he had made a huge joke. Stopping a moment where he was, his braided tail that was far from being pristine, flicked over his flank, at this distance one could tell he was half muddy and looked like someone stuck it there.
"If you know the way, please, lead on. Its not like I have anything better to do. This warm weather is killing me worse then the muck itself." Easing himself back some, a hoof pulled thickly from the mud waving for her to lead. "Oh yes, introductions, always a common greeting, but seems we have moved past that one. Haven't we? Name's Pyry, mud man of the year it seems, just have to coat my other side and no one would know who I am."

Snow Gem had to resist the natural sensation of needing to shiver at the sound of the stallion's bit chilly voice as she smiles at him friendly. "I can help and try to pull them apart for you. My brother and parents are winds so I help them out almost all of the time." She offers while her eyes glances at the mud that is covering one side of this poor stallion, stifling a grimace. "Mmhm.. so true. At least my family have this small private lake where I am heading over there right now so.. its a little blessing." She sighs as she looks at the muddy environment with clear distaste in her eyes.
The purple mare laughs and shakes her head while she reluctantly leaves her little dry spot, shuddering visibly as her hooves sinks in the mud with squishing sounds. "At least the mud keeps mosquitoes away! That's one little plus of having mud all over the place." Eyeing one particularly large mosquito that is zooming over to them, the female forces herself to start moving once again. Snow Gem laughs once again at Pyry's comment about being a mud man of the year. "You are soo lucky I am intent on getting to the lake faster or you would find your other side covered in mud." She says over her shoulder with a coy/teasing smile on her muzzle.
"all righty... the bugs are starting to gather around here.. we better get moving." Snow Gem quickly snaps into the 'military' like mode while she suddenly starts to try to trot but the mud that is caking around her hooves and ankles is weighting her down. "...well as fast as we could.. with those mud shoes.. ha.." She frowns at the mud in utter distaste.

Watching the mare a moment, he lifted his head up, letting his mane wave some in the motion and flicking mud somewhat. Wings tucked in close to his sides, he wasn't about to let anyone touch his wings. He had lost enough feathers as it was by just stretching it this morning. Stifling back a a snort, his ears laid back when she had mentioned that his other side might have been covered in mud if she weren't more intent on getting to this private lake that her family knew of. "Try, you might find yourself in the mud and not myself." Though he tried remaining 'good' natured but the weather was killing him.
As the mare tried to trot through the mud, finding it more complicated then ever. Letting himself chuckle as he followed, a little further back from the mare. He didn't exactly want to be too close if she happened to change her mind. But for the sake of not losing sight of this, Snow Gem was her name? He moved a little closer, pulling his hooves higher and out of the mud as he went. At times it looked like he was prancing, hoping that they would get to this lake sooner then later. "So, how far IS this lake? From the looks of everything, the mud will soon be drying up and I don't feel like standing still and becoming stiff."

Snow Gem tries not to flinch when some of the mud got on her and her body automatically shuddered, trying to shake the mud off like it would with the flies. Her eyes gleams with mischief and laughter when she sees the stallion's reaction to her coy comment about pushing him in the mud so both sides of his body would be evenly coated. "Awww.. will you really knock this little mare into the mud?" She pouted at him prettily as she dances away from him clumsily so he wouldn't get any chance to knock her over. It is very quite obvious that her playful side is here to stay.. at least until the vain side takes over again.
"Plus, if you are covered with mud.. it will be more easier for you to walk.. instead of.. " She playfully leans to one side. "Leaning to one side under all of the mud on one side." She smirks at Pyry playfully before she tosses her mane out of her eyes. "Not that far actually.. Just over those two hills." She shrugs her shoulders. "It is quite seluded place.. with waterfall so you can properly wash the mud off." She moves toward the general direction of that small spot. "Well you better get walking or you will be stuck there for all of those birds to perch on. Hm.. say.." She glances over her shoulder at him with a smirk. "A nest between your ears will be an improvement to your appearance." She tries to keep the bubble of laughter from escaping her muzzle.

Pyry gave this kind of look that didn't seem like he was kidding. And he wasn't, he wasn't a push over and if she was going to tip him in the mud. He was going to have to be really surprised and that was rare, he had no problems with throwing his own weight around. "Don't tempt me, I have no problems with throwing my weight around, even if that means knocking you into the mud, miss Gem." A smile of his own passed over his lips as he waiting for her to finish shaking off before moving closer.
Looking forwards once more she had mentioned that the lake was just over a couple of hills. A couple of 'muddy' hills from what he could see, if there was even the slightest bit of snow around he was going to use it. Hopefully he wouldn't go mad walking in this heat with himself half caked in mud. Oiy. "I would rather not, bad enough I'm coated on one side, so lets just go, alright?" Snorting and pulling his head back a little he shook his head at the mention of a nest on his head. "How about a mouse nest starting in your tail?" he offered back as he had noticed her tail coated in mud. "Wouldn't that be nice? A nest on my head and one in your own tail?"
