Breathing heavily, Kaishori had the edges of her mouth brought back and her ears flat, exhausted after having to chase down her kill. It wasn't anything fancy, a newborn Impala, but the mother had decided to chase Kai down before she could get a solid grasp on the baby's ankle. She had exhausted herself running to a safe area to eat away from the grown Impala, all with a small body in her jaws.
Her small paws rested on the ground, claws still extended anxiously. Once her heat had calmed, she tentatively licked the carcas, her apetite almost fully diminished from the heavy run. Her golden eyes flicked around, looking to see if anyone was around. She had expected to see someone, especially since she had run deep into the heart of the pride. It would be quite lonely to eat alone, but she wasn't going to go out of her way to change her situation. She would find others eventually, but for now, the small lioness had to eat to regain what she had lost getting her troublesome meal.

Watching the area around the pride, Ubawa sighed lowly. It was a bit of a boring day, really. There weren’t any duels to be had. Though, really, he was a little tired from his last duel still. It had been him ending up the winner, sure, but it had by no means been an easy fight. There had been a lot of room for improvement in his attacks, he knew. By no means was he a master dueler.
Speaking of his duels, it didn’t take long for him to spot a lioness he had been in a duel with before. One he had lost against, actually. Smiling faintly, though embarrassed by the thought of it, he drew himself closer to the female, staying a good deal back so she didn’t think that he was there to steal her kill.
“It looks like you’ve settled in well enough,” he said from his spot on a long flat rock, “I hope you’re enjoying the pride.”

Teeth sinking into her meal, Kai could almost feel the energy of her kill seeping into her. She had been quite exhausted recently, for no other reason than she had failed to feed herself. She was so focused in trying to be a part of the pride, that she hadn't ventured out to get a decent meal for herself. And her small frame didn't allow her to go for too long without food.
Pricking her ears up, a familiar voice rang through. She wasn't frightened in the least, and she brought her head up to see who it was. Staring at the large black body, she knew it as the lion who she'd gained acceptance to the pride from.
"Oh, hello!" She grinned, her red fur hiding the blood stains. "And yes, I really love it here." She turned her head to the side, looking out at the surrounding pride lands. "I'm really glad I found this place." She flicked her golden eyes back up at him, wide with happiness.

The large male could see she was being sincere- she was very pleased that she was finally a part of the pride. Perhaps it had been a long struggle to find a home, or perhaps she had happened upon the opportunity by chance and had decided to just go for it. Whatever her back story happened to be, she certainly seemed pleased with how it all turned out. That was good, he supposed.
Really it wasn’t his place to care either way. Why he had felt compelled to ask about it at all was beyond him.
Maybe he was really bored.
Whatever the case, he felt oddly pleased by her satisfactory actor. “Well, that’s good,” he replied faintly, “I suppose I shouldn’t worry about you not dealing with things now. I thought you might have a bit of trouble getting around and figuring stuff out.” He shrugged his shoulders, getting himself to his feet and hopping from his rock.

"Oh, it was a little hard at first, but...I worked really hard." Making a determined expression, Kai tried to show off her determination, but ended up laughing after her show.
"So you were born here, huh? Must've been nice." Looking around, she wondered what it would have been like if her family had always been here. Her cubhood wasn't bad or anything, but she couldn't help but think that maybe things would have been different if they had had the protection of a pride like this.
But that was all in the past, and all that really mattered was the fact that she was here now, and had a future to look forward to.

“I was nice enough, I suppose,” the male replied, “there was some bloodline stuff going on at the time, but for the most part I remained unaware of it. I suppose I was never very interested in the politics of this pride- I just know this is my home and I will always be a part of it.” He would always protect it, regardless of his position or who happened to be in charge. Regardless of anything, in fact.
All he wanted was to make sure the home he loved so much remained in tact for generations to come. For his children.
Assuming he ever had any.
“Well, I suppose I’m glad you’re working so hard. It’s nice to see outsiders playing an active role in this place. I don’t think I’m very fond of those who don’t seem to appreciate what it means to be here. There are some who seem so… complacent. Like they have no reason to do anything but laze around all day. But… maybe I’m rambling a bit now. Sorry.”
