Acacia was taking one of her customary walks. She always seemed to take a walk when she needed to think, but lately that seemed more and more often. However, on this particular walk the clouds seemed to gather without her noticing. Her mind was lost in paths of thinking she had long traveled--where would she look next. A drop of rain hit her squarely on the nose and brought her back to the present. Acacia looked up as the heavens seemed to open and pour forth a flood of rain. She ran to find shelter as the thunder rumbled and the lightening flashed across the sky. Spotting a cave, she made her way for it and ducked it. It was cold, but it seemed relatively dry when she reached it--it least it was drier than outside. Her eyes were unaccustomed to the dark, but she didn't seem to see anything or anyone around.

Ominos was lazing idly at the edge of the glowing cave lake, his breathing low and deep, like that of a sleeping giant. His bright eyes gazed out over the smooth, undisturbed surface of the underground lake--it might be considered beautiful, if he could experience such feelings. The black water was lit from within by strange, glowing crystals of soft purples, blues, and greens. They cast an eerie glow to the cavern, while retaining, mostly, the darkness that he felt comfortable in. The cavern stretched high overhead, eventually dipping and leading off to who knew where, with the water of the lake following it until the ceiling disappeared beneath the dark surface. On his other side, the cavern narrowed into the small passageway that would eventually lead to the mountain forest outside. Sounds of thunder and soft patters came from that direction; it must have started raining.
The kalona's sensitive nose caught a strong scent, one that seemed to appear out of thin air. His ears perked, and his whole body tensed in a unified motion--another Soquili! How strange... most of those land-walkers knew better than to set foot in a dark, foreboding cave that had the capacity for a dangerous inhabitant. But this one... this one had walked straight into his clutches. And he was a bit... hungry.
He rose from spot on the rocky cave floor, moving silently down the passage towards the cave mouth. The other being wouldn't know what hit them... literally.

Acacia shook out the bundle of hair at the nape of her neck, she was drenched, but it was better to be in here than otherwise. She really had to stop taking walks without paying attention to the weather, she would never find them this way...
She watched as the rain poured down, making the air even cooler in the cave. Yet, for some reason she got a horrid, sickening feeling. But why? Was it just her sister she was thinking of or some impending doom?
But that was stupid, everything she was safe....the cave was empty.

Ominos rounded the little turn that led to the cave opening, a small chamber with a wide mouth facing outwards to the mountains. His eyes narrowed, and even though the light was dim, he was able to see the intruder quite clearly. It was a small, rather plain-looking mare... one of those deer-like horses, it looked like. Her hair was short and clasped together at the nape of her neck, but other than that, her coat was quite ordinary. Of course, it wasn't the coat that mattered to Ominos--his sensitive sense of smell alerted him to the fact that she was still young, and therefore, had tender meat. Seeing as she was unaware, he doubted that there would be much of a fight. So easy... all he had to do was leap forward and catch her throat between his powerful jaws. He had to be almost a foot taller than her...
But just as he was about to pounce, a little voice at the back of his mind halted him. 'Idiot,' it said, 'You always kill them so quickly! Have a little fun with this one, eh?' Of course, it was right. He loved the feeling of power and mastery over his prey, but was usually too hungry or focused to remember to exert it. He almost always killed too quickly, so he might as well take the time while he remembered to do so.
He emerged from the shadows, his wings making soft leathery sounds as he stretched them at his sides. His appearance was not sly--he wanted her to notice him. To be afraid.
Not even waiting for her reaction, he glided up to her, towering over her form with a dark look on his face. His white fangs barely poked out of his lips as he growled, "Do you know whose cave this is, mare?"
