Pros and cons with growing up. Pros and cons.
Pros? He was stronger. Muscles rippled under the purple fur, sharp fangs clicked together within a maw capable of ripping out the throat of most game in the area - and shatter more than a few bones. He was sure as hell smarter than he had been in his youth, a far keener hunter and far more capable stalker. Orange locks clung to him, droplets slithering down his form as he stood upon the banks of a putrid river. A branch of one of the main two that flowed down from the mountains, lost amongst the undergrowth and slowly dying trees. His father's presence was having a most... interesting effect on the flora in the area.
He began to wade further into the dark water, watching as debris drifted past him. Branches, leaves, bodies of fish and small rodents. Few creatures had the stomachs to survive in this kind of filth. The remaining aquatic creatures that dared to dart around his legs were mutations, strange anomalies. Further and further he went, sinking further and further beneath the surface. Cons?
Well, for starters, fewer bodies of water could hide him. He got lucky with this river, much deeper than most this far from the main lines. When he'd been younger, it was more difficult to find water that couldn't let him be fully submerged. It was an annoying change to be sure.
A low rumble echoed in his stomach and he snorted. With the water up to his head, it took just a small duck to return to his liquid home, kicking himself off as his powerful tail propelled him along, red eyes to the banks now that his bangs were out of his way to let the bloody orbs and yellow "whites" peer through. Time to stop pondering the herd's territory and to start hunting.

Keshani Avenara flicked her spade tail as she moved through the forest, wings folded tight to her back to minimize their glow as she stalked her prey. Her eyes were narrowed calculatingly, ears pinning back or pricking forward to catch any sound of the animal she stalked. She'd moved on from her first lessons of birds and rabbits at an almost alarming rate, much to her father's pride and pleasure. Now? Now she was looking for something a little more interesting. She wasn't big enough to take out a deer -yet- but until then, she'd had her fun picking off a fawn here and there. The filly sighed in disappointment at having to wait, abandoning her chase of the young wild hog that had been keeping her entertained. Dull... She certainly wasn't hungry, but it had been something to do, something to get her out and about in the forest. The scent of something -substantially larger- made her pause, one dainty silver hoof hovering in air. A force, something supernatural, it reminded her of her sire... But Aveshar's scent crackled with lightning and some strange magic from a distant land, this was power from somewhere else... The scent of rot and vegetation drew her onward, her steps somewhat cautious as she moved toward the edge of the trees, closer to the scent. Filth and dirt, death and rot. 'How interesting... The little filly mused, continuing out of the protective cover of the forest. The scent of the predator was stronger here, prompting her to follow along the river in search of the origin. Glowing wings flared, then refolded, a dainty muzzle dropping closer to the ground as she inhaled, the scent firm in her nostrils and her pace a steady trot. A male, older... A young stallion, perhaps.. But he smelled of power and taint, and was... Interesting... Glowing silver eyes searched the water, sensing something there, but not yet seeing it... The water was too tainted by bloated bodies and filth and rotting matter... But there was something alive in it... Something big. Keshani, never one to be afraid, fluffed her wings and lifted her head, moving closer to the water's edge. Her voice was without fear, faintly musical when she spoke. "I smell you."
