This is a variation on the farmer, chicken, and corn riddle.
Three maidens and three demons are on the bank of a river. The river is full of man-eating fish, you can't swim across.
The demons want to eat the maidens, but they are cowards- they won't attack if they are outnumbered or evenly matched. However, they'll do what ever you say to help get the maidens across, in case you slip up and the maidens are outnumbered. There's one boat, but it can hold only two people. How do you get the maidens across without them being outnumbered?
Someone MUST take the boat back.
This riddle is from With A Tangled Skein by Piers Anthony.

Kerobian Tell me, does the name With a Tangled Skein ring a bell?
My goodness, you've read that too! I love that book ^_^ yes, I got the riddle from Piers Anthony. There's another good one about coins in WATS, right?
"The burning of a book is a sad, sad sight, for even though a book is nothing but ink and paper, it feels as if the ideas contained in the book are disappearing as the pages turn to ashes and the cover and binding--which is the term for the stitching and glue that holds the pages together--blacken and curl as the flames do their wicked work. When someone is burning a book, they are showing utter contempt for all of the thinking that produced its ideas, all of the labor that went into its words and sentences, and all of the trouble that befell the author . . . " — Lemony Snicket (The Penultimate Peril)

Anthony is one of me favorite authors... Incarnations was one heck of a series... did you ever read the Adept series? Or any of the Xanth?

Xanth yes, but not Adept. I loved Ill Wind and Dragon on a Pedestal... but Anthony's depiction of women and his silly sex/sexual scenes caused me to stop reading his books.
He also wrote that series about the girl who traveled through different dimensions that I loved because of the science (I love the science and philosophy in his books). And I also liked Killer Byte.

I simply ignored the silly sex scenes. Other than them, the stories are actually good.

"Don’t unplug me or-or-or-or just shut me down Please just love me with-with your steal heart" Um... Okay... I think I got this one... The demons can cross on their own, right? If not, then I'm wrong...
A demon and maiden go across in the boat and the maiden comes back.
Two demons go across and one comes back with the boat.
Two maidens go across and a maiden and a demon come back.
Two maidens go across and a demon goes back.
Soo... Three maidens across and three demons on the other side (but they still have the boat, lucky them =P). "I’d reboot you if-if you’d look at me With those cold eyes one-one more time" - ALL CAPS
