Fifth whined quietly to himself in worry, one small hand clasped in one of his much larger ones as he stalked the many long, confusing hallways of the Facility. He should have known that working in this place would get him into the business of taking care of one of these stupid brats lovely little children. But it couldn't just be that, either, oooh no, now that would be too simple, wouldn't it? No, he had to end up with twins and not the kind who were both one combination; his boys were complete. opposites.
"Stupid Facility and its dumping of these stupid kids on unsuspecting, decent people..." That was also implying that Fifth Avenue was somehow a decent person, but that's not the point. The point was that one of his boys had already gotten lost -actually, he'd run off- into the bowels of the place known as the Facility. As such, it was only Gabriel who held to his dad's hand, whining softly as he hopped to keep up with the six-foot-plus man's long stride.
"Daddy!! Too faaast!!" the little pride child whimpered, bouncing up and down in protest. Growling and mumbling under his breath about how he was totally not father material at all, Fifth stopped, turned, and hoisted the boy up into his arms, continuing with his frantic search. Day one of fatherhood? Failed.

If it hadn't already been made quite clear, Damien liked to walk. It kept him from ruining a place by standing there too long, which is something he usually did if he wasn't careful. And he especially didn't want to make his new Daddy upset by hanging around. So, while Daddy had been arguing with some doctor guy about something and Gabriel was playing with a mirror again, the Humility spawn had slipped of, for what he felt was the better of all.
However, not having a clear destination in mind, the toddler wandered around the place of his birth aimlessly, walking through every door that caught his interest. Maybe he could find a place so fun and great that it balanced out him being there. Then his daddy could come and get him properly.
Cat started terribly when the door to his classroom opened by itself, wings getting ready to throw him into the air. However, thankfully, when he saw the small brunette head peek around the corner, he calmed down. It was only a toddler. Sighing and smiling, he waved kindly at the spawn. "Hello there. I'm Cat. Are you lost or something?"
Damien's eyes widened when he saw that there was acutally a person in this room, and was getting ready to leave before said person addressed him. Feeling it would be impolite to just leave, he stepped into the room, looking around it a little sullenly. "No. 'M not losted 'M Damien." That obviously being a sufficient explanation, he looked around the room again. "C'n I stay in hewe fow a lil' bit? I'll go 'way afore it gets too icky, pwomise."
Cat blinked in confusion at the odd request, but smiled amiably and shrugged. "Fine with me. Just be careful, alright?" After watching the spawn nod and plop himself onto the ground, Cat exited the room and sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. Now he was harboring a runaway child in his classroom. He looked up and down the hallway a little despairingly, waiting for either a tech or a very distressed parent to come walking by.

Fifth was a lucky man at times, and today was one of those times. Just as he rounded another corner, he caught sight of a tri-coloured tail disappearing through a door. Growling to himself and grinning with those large, pointed fangs, he followed the disappearing end of his child, holding his wriggling one tight in his arms. Reaching the door, he placed Gabriel back on his feet only to hear the most annoying of irritating whines.
"WHAT, Gabriel?!"
"Daddyyy!! You towe my shiwt!!" the little boy whimpered before bursting into tears and collapsing onto the ground, sobbing hysterically. Fifth, in the meantime, had his forehead falling into the palm of his hand, growling quietly as he resisted the urge to dig his talons into his skull.
"Oh. MyGod. Gabbie, I will get you a new shirt," he stated, needing to use all of his willpower to keep from yelling at his son. Of course, the offer brought a smile to the pride boy's face and he perked up, rubbing his eyes and standing again, at which point he took the child's hand and stepped through the door. "Hey, Damien, you-"
"...Cat?"

Damien had been amusing himself by playing with the rug that sat on the gray man's floor, and sat up when he heard his daddy's voice, a little disappointed that he'd been found so fast. No way had all of the bad gone away from his family yet. Still, it wasn't a surprise that he hadn't hidden good enough, and so he resignedly got to his feet. However, he stopped when his daddy addressed the gray man, and he watched with curious eyes, wondering how they knew each other.
Cat's eyes got as big as dinner plates when he spotted the familiar golden frame coming his way. Even if he was about five times bigger than the last time he'd seem him, there was no mistaking the shine of that gryphon boy. Awkwardness and immense guilt caught hold of Cat's tongue for a moment, and it was an awkward few seconds before he managed to spurt out some words to fill the silence. "F-First? Uh, um, h-h-hi. Um, is this-" he stuttered, gesturing to the child who was taking refuge in his room, "This y-y-yours?"

It took a little more than a few seconds for Fifth Avenue to overcome the shock of seeing his own Five standing across the room from him. His body had sunk into an unintentionally demure position for his all-but-demure stature, Gabriel's hand slipping from his own. It was by the time that his wings started drooping that he remembered what Cat had done to him, what had happened after his protector and guardian had left him to the demanding and lustful desires of the other members of the gang.
His hands clenched into fists, talons digging into his palms and drawing blood almost instantly, green eyes fiery as he growled at the stick-like male standing meekly in front of him. "Fifth, not First. I managed to work my way up to ruling this gang and I have damn-well earned the respect that comes with it," he snarled at Cat, eyes snapping to the place where Gabriel was hiding behind his brother, peeking out with large, watery red eyes.
Goddamnit, if that kid started crying again...

From the meekness that Cat was exhibiting, one wouldn't have thought that he used to be in charge of the furious golden Eilian in front of him. However, massive corroding guilt does certain things to people, and it was because of that that Cat responded to the harsh words with a small, weak half-smile. He had done some stupid things in his life, but even he was smart enough to know that he wasn't going to be able to overpower Fir- Fifth if things got out of hand. Better to never let them get to that point.
He held up his hands in a small, defeated gesture, that placated still on his face. "Really? I apolog-gize, I..." Cat trailed off, not wanting to bring up the fact that he hadn't been near the gang in ages if he could help it. That would only make the other Eilian more furious. Glancing over his shoulder, he gestured for Damien to step forward, and was deeply relieved when the frowning child actually did so.
"So, uh, a-am I right in th-thinking that this is the D-Damien you were looking for?" he asked, desperate to keep the conversation rooted in the present. However, even as he tried, he couldn't help but look the massive gryphon over once or twice. Not in a leering way, of course, but it was just... such a contrast to see the person he remembered as a child so... big.

Fifth was anything but daunted by the presence of this man, feeling nothing but an overwhelming fury mixed with a strong desire to start crying. But that was not his plan, not by a long shot. His large-feathered wings were ruffled, making him seem even larger than he already did, fangs bared, lionlike ears tipped back against his mane of hair. It would take nothing more than the drop of a pin to set him to tearing this man apart, though a small part of him tried to say that there would be no chance of him ever being able to do that. Alas, such was the truth, but that didn't mean he had to accept it. His eyes snapped to Damien and he stepped forward, positively towering over Cat in size and demeanor.
"Yes, Cat, that would be my son," he practically snarled in the man's face, reaching out to grab hold of Damien's arm more roughly than he intended. "You'd best hope that I don't find him with you again," he tacked onto the end of his comment, the sound of the threat hanging in the air, thickening to a choking tension. Vice grip holding Damien's arm, he pulled the whining Gabriel forward as well, shoving him toward the door, too angry to even be able to focus it on one person alone. With that, he took both boys and both dragged and shoved them out of the room, heading with them back to his own classroom, ears deaf to Gabriel's insufferable whining.
Once they reached the room, he half-threw the boys into it, slamming and locking the door before a weariness overtook him. Stumbling to the corner, he fell into the large pile of pillows he kept there. It was a moment for the tire to turn to an overwhelming, painful sadness, a feeling that he had locked away long ago, the first time he'd been left alone. He doubled over in his half-bed, covering his face to hide the tears that pooled in the crevasses of his hands, wings half-wrapping around himself as he did whatever he could to keep the sobs at bay. It only helped that Gabriel's crying overrode any other noise.

Cat wished that he could have said that he didn't flinch when Fifth stepped aggressively towards him. He wished that he could say that he stood his ground boldly, not cowering an inch and perhaps even depositing a gem of a witty remark into the tense air, relieving any bad blood between the two men and perhaps even igniting a rediscovering of their friendship among other things. But, he couldn't say that, because it wasn't true. He flinched terribly, wings fluttering in a way that threatened to catapult him into the ceiling in the most undignified manner imaginable. And no witty words fell from his lips; he merely made an odd, strangling noise, and nodded roughly, taking that as a cue to step backwards. Inwardly, he winced; this was pretty much going only terrible, with no way of salvaging it. This certainly wasn't how he had envisioned their reunion.
Damien yelped when his arm was grabbed fiercely, and as a reflex reaction to the pain he dug his heels into the carpet. If he could stay here with Cat, who was nice, or have to go back to make his daddy and brother bad, especially when he was being hurt, he'd much rather stay with the silvery man. But his little-boy strength was dwarfed infinitely by Fifth's and so he was carted out of the classroom. His eyes looked over pleadingly at Cat, but the hippogriff could only smile weakly and wave goodbye. He was not going to interfere; he didn't want to die.
When Fifth and his children were gone, Cat sighed heavily and collapsed onto his chair, his hands catching his head. God... That had been awful. His teeth forced his way into his lip to keep from crying, an effort that had his shoulders shaking. If he was going to have to see Fifth around more often... Something bad was going to happen.
Meanwhile, a few classrooms over, Damien watched in confusion as not just his brother, but Fifth also started crying. He didn't understand why everyone was so sad, and his headwings pressed themselves into his hair to try and drown out the irritating noise. After a while, he walked up to Fifth and laid a gentle hand on his back. Too much crying, he decided, from everyone.
