"Comment dis tu 'dress' en Français?" Lelani Kimura stood in a french boutique located in the shopping center of King's City. She spun around in what seemed to be an elegant shimmering blue ballgown as she asked the store clerk how to say certain words in french. Lelani only knew a bit of french herself taking classes in school, so needed help with some words that she could not remember. The store clerk woman stood behind Lelani as she watched the girl twirl around modeling the dress in the mirror, "Un robe, mademoiselle." the store clerk answered with a smile. "Tu crois que je suis grosse?" Lelani asked the store clerk. Lelani examined her dyed blonde hair, her white makeup, and her blue eyes. She messed with the many accessories, hairclips in in her hair, colorful necklaces hanging on her neck and bracelets on her arms. She shifted back and fourth in her rainbow platform heels.

The woman quickly shook her head, "Non, non, non, mademoiselle. Tu es tres jolie~" Lelani smiled as the woman reassured her that she was not fat at all, though very pretty. Lelani stepped away from the mirror and went back into the dressing room, changing back into her regular outfit as she made her way back out with the dress. "Kay, I'll take it then!" Lelani's dress was rung up by the clerk and the Ganguro girl made her way out of the small boutique holding her bags of clothing including her new dress starting her way down to the food plaza close by to the boutique to maybe get something to eat. Lelani arrived in the middle of the crowded plaza. Close by, there was also a fountain where people sat also.

There were little food cafes where people could sit in and eat and people standing by selling food on little carts. The area outside had tables where people who wanted to enjoy the bright sunny day could eat surrounded by nice scenery. It was a nice place to hang out, it was wide and spacious and had plenty of people to meet. Lelani made her way over to a Takoyaki vendor cart as she bought two sticks and made her way to find an empty table in the plaza. Every place seemed to be crowded except for the fountain, which was where Lelani decided to sit.
She sat down on the edge of the fountain and set her bags beside her as she smiled and took in this cool breeze and gorgeous day, breathing in a bit. A teenage couple sat to the side of her making out, and around the edge of the fountain sat people alone and some with friends all enjoying their weekend at King's City Shopping Epicenter Plaza.

King's City Shopping Epicenter Plaza was a good place to wander around and watch the people. Takuma Nobuyiki had been casually meandering about the mall earlier and was now resting at one of the tables. He was wearing a simple orange and brown long sleeve shirt and jeans. There had been a soda but now all that remained was a cup of ice. While trying to decide what to do next he noticed a bizarre looking girl walk by with her meal (or was it a snack?)

He could not resist how good the food smelled. Since when was that available here? Perhaps it was one of the carts that had a habit of moving or changing. Without so much as an introduction Takuma went up to the girl that had just sat down. "Hey, where did you get the Takoyaki?" He looked around for a brief moment wondering if it was somewhere obvious and he had just missed them. "I had no idea they sold those here."

Lelani was about to take a bite from her takoyaki stick when all of a sudden, she was rudely interrupted by a voice standing above her. She tilted her head upwards at a boy with flaming red hair and scoffed slightly, "Oh, hello there to you too." Lelani remarked at him sarcastically. If there was one thing that Lelani could not tolerate, it was rude people who walked up to her and asked where she got food from without so much as an introduction. She went back to eating, not paying any mind to him after he had rudely interrupted her like that. Why should she help him if he didn't even have so much the decency as to introduce himself?

After a long while, Lelani looked back up at the boy who was still standing there. He didn't seem to be getting the message quite clearly through his head, "Um, you could at least introduce yourself. That would actually be the polite thing to do." Lelani just watched him to see what he would do next.

Takuma froze in response to the bristly response. The girl looked like she might be a similar age to himself... And really strange. Perhaps she had a problem with attracting the attention of weird people.

"Hey, whatever you want." He gives a quick bob of a bow trying to be at least respectful to some degree. "I'm Takuma Nobuyuki. If I can get you name then do I have permission to talk to you?" He watched her curiously trying to figure out her outfit and wondering if she was going to now simply shoo him away. It was interesting to look at but he could not fathom why someone would dress that way.

Lelani smiled as she stood up and bowed politely back to him. Lelani was a very prude young woman, so as long as someone showed her that they had proper manners, she didn't mind speaking to them. "It's nice to meet you Takuma. See? That's much better, isn't it? You need to remember to always show courtesy and respect, or else people will find you uncivilized and think of you as a miscreant. You wouldn't want that, now would you?" Lelani nodded at Takuma's question as she posed to deliver her answer. She slowly climbed up onto the fountain ledge, hand on hip with a determined look to her eyes as she opened her mouth to speak,

"I am known as the fabulous, talented Lelani Kimura!~ Someday I am going to be a famous J-pop star! All my friends tell me so, so does my daddy.~ Remember my name, because one day you will see it up in lights. People everywhere will be chanting my name across all of King's City and all over the world!" People who had been sitting around the fountain gawked up at Lelani, who still stood there in her dramatic pose for a moment or two. Lelani sighed as she climbed back down, not taking heed of all the people who were gawking at her moments before, smiling broadly at Takuma after she had given her speech.

Takuma could not help but smile when he saw the girl climb up there and introduce herself to the entire area. She was very spirited and he found it charming. It was now crystal clear to him why she looked so odd. "It is nice to meet you Lelani. You have the right kind of presence for the stage to succeed as a star."

The Plaza was a good place to hang out in Eolande's opinion. Since she had no current friends in this city she walked it alone. Of course, she had to admitt that the sort of friends Jacob had spent his time setting up for her were not the sorts she cared for much. She had to have at least fifty names under 'friends' on her cell phone. How many of them actually were though? Eolande glanced down at her pocket and pondered just randomly dialing one of them. Any of them. Who would actually pick up when they saw her name?

Well...she did not need anyone to enjoy the plaza. She wasn't interested in cloths shopping. The jewelry store was nice but there was nothing there she'd actually buy to wear. She supposed she could hit up the arcade or the game stores and see what was new....inevitably though it was the food court that her feet wandered to. Oh! Comforting scents of grease, oil, and spices! Home away from home! Eolande's eyes brightened a bit at all of the well lit signs scattered before her. Maybe this time she'd manage her goal.

In every new city she went, Eolande promised herself to try one of everything off the menu's of the shopping plaza. She'd never managed her goal. Mostly because she wasn't a pig who sat down to seven meals and tried to stuff herself full. No. She just tried a different order every time she visited the mall. Her top best was two hundred and fifteen orders....actually that was kinda sad. That meant she had spent two hundred and fifteen days at the mall out of three hundred and sixty...

Eolande's thoughts were pulled from her first selection on her quest to 'Eat the Mall' by a over the top girl standing on a nearby waterfountain. Eolande placed a hand on her hip and watched the girls pose and listened to her boasting words. Yet...even after all that she had seen..all Eolande could think to say in response was...

"Hey miss future super-star. Is that Takoyaki you got? Where did you buy that?"

"You need to get out more Tsujinda-san, make some friends, spend time with people your own age. Find a girlfriend even though I know that's a hopeless cause." Tobias muttered, mocking the words his councilor had told him just before she dropped him off at the cesspit known as the Mall. She would return in two hours time and wouldn't hesitate to call the 'higher ups' if he returned home before then. When would the woman realize that he didn't care about people, their thoughts, ideas, whims, or likes and dislikes. He did not care what it was that teenagers his age were into, nor did he care about others opinions about him.

The last time he'd caved and actually cared about what someone else thought, he'd ended up hitting a vein in his wrist and had to be rushed to the emergency room for a blood transfusion and stitches. Not to mention had several pills shoved down his throat, a head doctor try to rearrange the furniture in his head, and had a suicidal watch warning slapped onto his file. Oh he had a grand old time trying to get that one off, and the good doctor gone. He sneered at no one in particular before smoothing his expression. No matter. That was in the past and he'd thrown away his blades.

Mismatched eyes glanced at his worn looking wristwatch. Well. He had 109, no 108 minuets left to waste. He'd get himself something to eat then he'd go to the bookstore, assuming this place had one. If not, well, he needed new underwear. The ones he currently had somehow kept shrinking in the wash.

With a sigh Tobias brushed his loose ebony locks off his shoulders and headed towards the food court. He was in the mood for something greasy with a smoothie or milkshake to wash it down. As he was passing a fountain a girl climbed on top of it and announced to the whole world just who she was and what she was going to be. He snorted and couldn't help but make his way over. The girl was speaking to a red headed boy and another girl butted in to ask a question.

"If you're going to be a J-pop star, then I'd better stop listening to the genre." He said, his voice flat and expression bland. It really wasn't a problem for him to stop listening to it, since he barely did anyway. Music, to him, consisted mostly of a clock ticking away.

Lelani grinned kindly to Takuma, giving a curt nod, "Why thank you darling~! I'm sorry about earlier, it's just a bit of a pet peeve of mine when people don't introduce themselves to me before moving onto a different subject." Lelani was about to speak again when she heard someone call out to her. This time, a girl... a really grungy looking one at that. Lelani gave her a bit of a glare, but didn't want to piss off the girl because she looked as if she could easily snap Lelani's neck, so instead of starting anything, Lelani pointed towards the cart where she had bought the Takoyaki. "Right over there, miss..." Lelani pointed with a sharp nail, gritting her teeth a bit, really agitated but not trying to show it. As soon as she had finished answering the grungy girl, she heard another voice making a snide remark. Lelani turned her attention to a boy standing close by. "Nobody's going to stop you if you decide to stop listening to a genre of music..." Lelani smirked and shrugged. Lelani ignored the boy and turned her attention to Takuma again, "Sorry about that dear... people these days, no manners. So what did you ask again? Oh, that's right! The Takoyaki!" Lelani had two sticks, she was already halfway finished with one, but the other she hadn't even started on yet. "You can have this one if you want." Lelani gently handed him her untouched stick with a smile.

Tobias shoved his hands into his pockets, the fingerless black and white striped gloves bunched up a bit around his wrists. His shirt was a generic three-quarter sleeved black one with a broken gray heart on the front. What flesh on his arms his shirt didn't cover showed burn marks and a few jagged scars. Mismatched eyes watched as the girl dismissed him after shooting back a reply. He agreed with her, nothing could stop him from listening to the genre if he chose to. "My name is Tobias." He said, figuring that he could at least give his name since he unwillingly knew hers. "Why do you want to be a musician anyway?"

He might be anti-social and apathetic, but that didn't mean he didn't get curious at times. If anything, this conversation would be the one he would write down in his journal to show that he'd at least attempted conversation with a stranger.

When the two other teens approached them Takuma glanced at them curiously before returning his attention to Lelani. These new people clearly came up to them in response to Lelani's announcement of introduction. It was an outburst in a public space and he had expected it to draw at least some further attention from the crowd. This was why he liked the mall. It was normally a great place to waste time people watching. It attracted really strange people.

After noting where the food vendor was located he returned his attention to Lelani. Her offer completely surprised him. Takuma looked at the takoyaki hesitantly. His approaching the girl was not intended as begging. "Ah, you didn't have to." He gently plucks the offered food from her hand. "Thank you Lelani."

When the other boy introduced himself Takuma's attention was refocused towards him. At this point he noticed the scattering of marks peeking out between shirt cuff and glove. The sheer amount confused him. How could someone accumulate so many scars? Takuma quickly dismissed the curiosity and was moreso marveling over the idea of covering something with gloves. It was a good idea for covering something and it not looking suspicious. Despite this realization Takuma shot down the idea as another mode of hiding his blatantly placed beacon. He simply was not fashionable enough to be able to pull off wearing gloves as anything beyond a winter accessory. Thinking about the hindrance of the stupid mark on his arm made Takuma self conscious of the bandage wrapped around the hand that was still hanging at his side.

Knowing someone's name without them knowing his made Takuma uncomfortable. He gave the two newcomers a similar quick bow. "I'm Takuma Nobuyuki."

The urge to go and buy herself some of the Takoyaki was strong. Though a tall dark haired boy had joined in clustering around the fountain and Eolande felt the urge to linger just a few more minutes. Besides...there was something in the conversation that sort of had her interest...

Eolande tilted her head at Tobi after his introduction. When Takuma followed suit Eolande felt the pressure to return the introduction herself. "I am Eolande. It's nice to meet you all." She spoke and lifted her hand to gesture in a half wave at the boys. Odd... As Eolande took a second look at Tobi she could not help but notice the hints of scarring on his face. Wow...a part of her wanted to point and question him about them. Though she doubted that would be received in good humor. Even Takuma seemed to be hurt in some way. What was with the bandage around his arm? Uncertain as she was, Eolande merely smiled at the group. She wanted to hear this girls answer about being a musician before chiming in with a question of her own. Someone had to start somewhere right?

Lelani raised and eyebrow at the boy who had just introduced himself to her and Takuma as she let Takuma take the Takoyaki she offered to him, "Hmmm?" Lelani inquired at that new boy, Tobias. The boy had many markings and scars on his face would slightly deducted points from his looks, but overall he was quite handsome. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, darling. My name is Lelani Kimura." Lelani grinned beaming as she listened to Takuma introduce himself as well. As she prepared to answer Tobias' question, right before she was able to say anything another mallgoer decided to interrupt her. Normally, Lelani would have said something about the abrupt interruption, but Lelani felt a little more kind today, so she held her tongue from lashing out at the girl who introduced herself as Eolande.

Lelani held back the need to scoff at Eolande though due to her absurd sense of fashion. She was dressed in an assortment of what looked like rags as if she had just pretty much went to a dumpster of some sort and pulled out a bunch of discarded clothing items. Lelani just grinned and smiled though without any comments, "Nice to meet you as well, Eolande." Lelani ran a hand through her hair as she flicked it behind her and went back to answering Tobias' question, "Well, I want to be a singer because I want to be able to entertain people and give people out there in the world someone to look up to. To be an idol to them of sorts, you know what I mean? If I can inspire them with my music and my talents, then I will know that I have done what i've been meant to do my entire life. Which is to bring inspiration to people all over the world! What do you think? Doesn't that sound like a nice goal?" Lelani asked, more addressing to her new friend Takuma than anyone else.

"Ambitious." Tobias commented, "But if you can pull it off then you'll have my respect. People who follow their goals, their dreams or ambitions to the end are rare." Absently he reached up to finger the scar that ran over his chin, thoughts drifting back to man who had offered him the world until he died suddenly. His thoughts then turned to his own ambitions, his own dreams, which were far more realistic and more obtainable then Lelani's own. But who was he to spit on someone else's dreams?

"Perhaps when you do make it I'll break my vow and listen to one of your songs." And who knew, maybe he would start to like the popular things...

Takuma had been listening to the others but was preoccupied by wolfing down the gifted food. The takoyaki did not stand a chance nor did it last long. This conversation felt slightly awkward since he was still trying to figure out what his own aspirations for the future beyond school were. It did not help that he was nearing graduation. There was a lot of pressure at home to follow paths that did not interest him. Hopefully the conversation would stay focused on the girl or wander to something else.

He nodded in agreement with Tobias. "It is a good reason to follow that goal. Much better than only being driven by fame and money." It was a reason why Takuma normally did not follow musicians closely. He could appreciate the sound and complexity of music but normally found the people behind it unpleasant. The majority seemed to be shallow greedy people only interested in further boosting their already bloated egos.

... Was it just him or were the girls bristling at each other?
