Within the shadows prowled a mutation that had lived amongst the forest and it's inhabitants for the last two whole moon's. His eyes were amber, settled within two dark sockets, no whites to be seen. They were dangerous, calculating and held no other meaning than to study creatures. More or less, prey. Everything to the wolf had no meaning unless it could prove it's worth. Nori creeped forwards, every step light and agile making sure not to step on a twig or russle any bushes. Ahead was a bear, hunting fish at the river's edge and stealing from the ShadowMoon clan's territory; his job was to patrol this forest, the pack's homeland and for anyone to be hunting on them other than the pack was reason enough for them to die. Gracefully and swift the huge predator lept from the shadows and pounced on the innocent animal till no pulse remained and the bear lay flat and lifeless. Blood dripped from his pearly fangs and off the tip of his maw, staining the ripples of the water as he watched it leak out and down stream. A fish remained from what had been pawed out and across the banking, flapping and gasping for breath. To save the trouble, Nori gripped it in the already feeded fangs and crunched loudly, gulping the thing whole and then turned, swishing his tail loosely and leaving the body there for his mother to retrieve. She always found the leftovers, she was just as cunning as he was and knowing that, he retreated back to the forest.

This isn't good. Hadn't she already passed that broken tree three times? How could she be walking in circles, without making any turns? It had been a mistake to venture off into the forest near her parent's herd lands. What would her father say if he knew that she had managed to get herself lost, again. He's not going to come looking for me this time. Sauda concluded. This was supposed to be a learning experience, neh? And what area could be safer to wander than a forest not far from home? That rock... it looks familiar The small, but steady mare's brow furrowed in frustration. If only she could see the stars through the tree branches. They always guided her to safety. Sighing out loud, Sauda decided to change her path. Going forwards wasn't getting her anywhere new. Taking a left, she made her way until finally coming to a new area. A stream? Sauda walked to the bank and lowered her head to take a drink. Taking in a mouthful of water, the mare paused when a odd flavor hit her taste buds. Why did the water taste salty?
Spitting the tainted water back out, she raised her head only to find the water stained with red. Shreiking, Sauda backed away from the stream fearfully. Where did it come from? Almost afraid to look, the mare turned her head upstream. On the other side of the stream, the bloody corpse of a bear laid, leaking into the water. Oh my Sauda doubled over, gagging. What was strong enough to kill a bear? She had underestimated the forest. Sauda only hoped that she wouldn't have to pay with her life.

This was a surprise. Never had one made themselves so obvious in his lifetime. Someone must of seen his act of murder and feared their fate also. He paused in his step, ears swiveling towards the echoing shriek. He snorted irritably and turned his head, his eyes targeting the stream and the spot where the bear remained lifeless. They didn't sound close but close enough, from the voice it could have only meant one thing; a stray mare in his pack lands. Evan, his challenge had been one thing and now his aim was to beat his demon of his mother and her pawn to an heir. Once there had been a bond, a dear one until the pack had teared themselves apart emotionally over positions. He would remain as high as he could... To be beaten would bring shame to his name. That would not be allowed. So he had to do, what he had to do.
With quick reflexes he pushed on his hind legs, darting into the darkness, the trees a blanket to his wolf like structure. His eyes searched the river bank from the forest edge forcing him to slow into a lowered stance, creeping with his head down and his sight sharp. There you are. A deep growl followed his thoughts as he pushed forward, appearing much like a raptor out into the open, still at the opposite side of the bank from her with his eyes shaped into dangerous slits and his steps light and slow.
He stayed silent, awaiting a response from the mare. Familiarity of her was striking, the scent that filled his nose was too identical to one of his pack to be a mere coincidence. It couldn't be but in the dim light, her foggy headwings faded and returned into thick heaps of mist. He only knew one herd with features alike. The Imps... What a better reason to capture her and do away with his needs, than that?

Sauda could hear something. Before she saw the creature jump into the clearing, Sauda knew that she was not alone. Fear had already crept up her spine. The mare knew that panicing would be the worst thing to do in a situation like this. She had to keep her head on straight and just maybe, she would get out of this unscathed. Her breaths came out fast paced and heavy. Her heartbeats echoed in her ears. She had to run. No Sauda steadied herself. Remembering her father's advice, that would only provoke the predator. Readying herself, she waiting for the creature to show itself. A large blur flew out of the forest not a moment later. The beast was tall, and had hair much longer and wild than her own. It's features were almost wolf-like in appearance. It's coat was dark, blending it into the forest successfully. If she hadn't been looking for it, she doubted that she would have even noticed it was there. It's bright yellow eyes were narrowed, glaring at her. She could see the tip of one of it's fangs poking out the side of his lip. The beast's smell hit her nose, and caused her to snort. From that alone she could tell that it was a male. His scent was wild. A mixture of dirt, sweat, blood, and something not as bad. Her fear settled in her stomach. Sauda's ears fell back, her headwings flaring outward. "Who are you?" She demanded more than asked. That might be going a bit too far... She thought after the words slipped from her mouth. She hadn't meant to insult the male. Especially on his own turf. The one thing that comforted her at the moment, was the stream that ran between them. It would surely keep him at bay?

Nori snickered weakly. This would be interesting indeed. He knew exactly who to claim if it came to it after his little talk with Evan. He raised his head proudly and studied her more thoroughly, looking her up and down. She would do just nicely, her dark appearance and strange mutations would be intimidating to many and she sounded like she had some bite. Talking to him in his own lands like she ruled it. It was his pack but maybe soon she could be apart of it if he played his cards right. He set off walking towards her, his heavy hooves trudging through the mirror like gaze of the water that was between them. "My name is Nori of the ShadowMoonClan and you are..." He paused in his track of speech. She should feel so lucky, he never usually bothered with the whole social thing. He wasn't used to it.
"On my turf." He sneered with a half frown. "You look familiar. Anyone can tell you belong to the Imps."

Sauda blinked, her eyelashes tickling her cheeks. The way he was looking at her... It sent a bad feeling down her body. She never enjoyed being looked at like a fresh piece of meat. "My eyes are up here, thank you." She sneered, momentarily forgetting her fear of the male. The look he was giving her. It was similar to the looks she received from an older Kalona stallion that she had met a short while back. While he had helped her out in a sticky situation, it didn't stop her from feeling slightly disturbed and nervous that he would ask something of her, that she would not be willing to give. Luckily, it didn't come to that, and she escaped unharmed, for the most part.
Her whole body stiffened when he started making his way across the stream towards her. Her opportunity to run was coming to a close with every step he made. He introduced himself as Nori. Why does that sound so familiar? She tried thinking back on conversations she had with her parents. The ShadowMoonClan? Wasn't that the clan that Evan ran off to join? A bitter taste rose in Sauda's mouth. He was apart of the clan who stole her brother from her? If it wasn't for them, no harm would have befallen her aunt. Evan would have stayed with them, and lived happily. It was because of them that he strayed. Sauda held her tongue. The male was still bigger than her, and more dangerous. Yelling at him without knowing that he was the one to provoke her anger was not a good idea. For a moment, she thought that he wanted to learn her name. However, a moment later, he was accusing her of being on his land. He knew what she was, and what her linage was. Straightening her back, Sauda spoke "I look familiar? Tell me, where have you seen one of my kind before?"

Cocky. That was an understatement, never had someone thrown such wit at him and gotten through a moment without pain but because it was her, he would let it slide. If he touched the herd he knew there would be much more conflict between him and his pack brother and for now he had to keep it strictly on the low. With a roll of his piercing ambers he grunted, letting them fall back over the mare.
"Evan." He answered bluntly. The marking on her chest of a skull and the tribal bones she wore running up a long her nose was proof enough. He narrowed it down to his sister, since the others of her herd were mainly ivory in pelt with the odd shades of black and blues. They should of been black and blue by his rage by now, good job he could cool it in time before he reached the edge of the forest. He had marched that way several times and then come to terms it would do no good.
With every taunting step he grew closer to her, he smelt sweet fear and fed smugly upon it as he stepped a soaked foot on the banking before her, his damp figure rising and continuing towards her. His eyes were no longer slits, they had chilled to something more normal but they settled on her crimson orbs; since it had been demanded so straight forwardly. "Your his sister. Correct?"

Evan Her brother's name came out of the male's mouth quickly. She wasn't ready to hear it. Not yet. Sauda had to bite her tongue to refrain from yelling at him. The male did know her brother. But how? Was he the one who stole him? What if he was the same male who attacked her aunt? Sauda couldn't help the bestial growl the rose in her throat. She was angry- no, furious. The male's cocky air did nothing to calm her anger. She tried her best to control her appearance. It wouldn't do her any good if he knew of the rise that he could get from her.
As he stepped out of the water, Sauda resisted the urge to scrunch up her nose. The male smelt like wet dog. Her tail tucked itself between her legs, wrapping around her left one. He was on her side of the water now. If he attacked, she would be harmed. I wonder if daddy could hear my screams from this far away? Sauda's eyes glared right into Nori's. She wouldn't let her eyes stray from him. It could lead to her death. But if he knows Evan, would he kill his sister? Sauda frowned. It was silly to think that. What if this male hated her brother? It would give him all the more reason to kill her. "How is that any of your concern?" Sauda spoke back, a hint of venom under her tone.

Her movements to him were a key point, in a pack that's how you could relate to how one felt or what their intentions were. It was naturally drilled in to their life style. Only if you had been used to it and used it to your advantage could you master keeping them controlled. Like everyone usually it was just reflex action. He cocked an eyebrow at her nose as it scrunched, not taking notice to the coward-like tail between her legs attempt.
It was strange how she just forced her thoughts on to him when she was obviously not in the right position to do so. She had the leading characteristics he could use if it came to it for the benefit of his trial, it was also amusing him greatly which helped her wade her way behind the safety line. Without notice he pushed back onto his bulky back-leg muscles and leaped forward, devouring the distance they had left between them and dug his stance in to the ground right in front of her. Snorting warm air out as it steered in to her own foggy breath.
"What gives you the right to be in my territory and speak with such disrespect?" He growled deeply, vibrating throughout his throat, a smirk curling to play with the reflection in her eyes. "It is my concern because he was a member of this pack for a good amount of his life so far. You're his sister, I thought family looked out for each other. It shows how much notice you take of your loved ones. How in considerate." He mocked with harsh words, provoking her already complex state.

With a gasp, Sauda reared back in shock when the male suddenly jumped out of the water, and landed not a 2 feet infront of her. He's fast Sauda thought with disdain. It would be difficult to run from him. She knew that she wouldn't stand a chance. She was ready to open her mouth to ask him if that was necessary, but he spoke before she could.
Sauda felt something inside of her break at the stallion's words. "Don't you lecture me on things that you don't understand!" Sauda snapped. How dare he. Sauda's headwings flared out with her anger. Her ears were flat against her hair. "Look at the way you act. Tell me, how do you take care of your loved ones?" Sauda practically snarled at the male. He went too far. "If you even had a drop of selflessness in your body, you would have left my brother alone. You would have let him go back to his family. You would have paid more attention to your life, and you would have stayed out of ours!" Sauda stood there for a second, panting. Her red eyes narrowed into a deep glare. She had never gone off on anything like that before. She did not regret it. Not yet, at least.
((I give Nori permission to lash out at her, if need be))

Nori laughed wildly in her face, his fangs appearing at such hysterical actions. He stood firm to his ground as she reared not fearing any collision it may have caused, although when she landed he only grinned inwardly at how much of a rise he had just got out of her. Others that were not of the same nature he found were simple minded and easy to torment. That or he and his mother just had a talent for wording hurtful opinions.
Her glare didn't even phase him an inch instead he only lurked his head closer towards her, baring his fangs menacingly as they scratched across her maw in a swift movement, his voice a delicate whisper to her pinned back ears. "I did nothing of the sort. Your brother was the one who chose his life here. We didn't keep him and he became a member of his own free will. Once a member you cannot escape unless banished." He commented to correct her of the proper happenings and why her brothers young face was a faded memory to her herd.
How did he care about his loved ones? That was a question. "I offer my closest relations everything there is to offer unless it is as strict as ranking. Then you have only yourself until the matter is delt with." Her temper twitched in his mind and her glare was only returned with his cool, collected gaze.
((Likewise if it comes to it. XDD ))

He was so infuriating! His reaction only fed her anger. Why was he so calm? Sauda's words were meant to hurt, and at his almost calm reaction, she realized that she missed her target. She gasped softly, his head suddenly close enough that they were almost touching. "He didn't." Sauda whispered, her voice soft, but stern. The male, Nori, had to be lying to her. There was no way that the boy that she had taken her first steps beside, had grown up loving, had left her without looking back. All for this clan? "You kept him. He would have wanted to go back, but you wouldn't let him." Sauda growled. She hadn't felt this furious in her whole life. Nori knew which buttons of her's to press, and he didn't hold back. "So you admit that you are selfish?" Sauda sneered. What was he doing to her? Her parents hadn't raised her to act like this. Even to her worst enemy. Taking a deep, shuttering breath in, Sauda stepped back. If she did not calm down, there wasn't going to be anything stopping her from lashing out at the frustrating male. And while she didn't have her mother's horn, nor his father's strength, a head-butt from her would still leave anybody with a headache. Taking another deep breath in, she closed her eyes. "Give me my brother back," She whispered, opening her deep red eyes to stare straight into Nori's. It wasn't a plee, yet not a demand either. It was what she wanted, and Sauda go to far lengths to get Evan back.

Nori cocked his head some, then nodded. He was selfish, when he had to be. When he knew it was needed to survive. He was selfish for taking innocent lives, those who had been hunting on his lands or had intruded it. He was a killer and he wouldn't deny that. It was how he had been raised however Evan wasn't like them, he had the smarts and he had strength but he didn't have the need to kill or the advantages of strong tails and large canines.
"Evan has already gone." He stated with a small laugh, never taking his taunting eyes from her. He smirked, knowing his smug replies only worked her up even more. He swiftly walked past her side, tail flicking upward to brush against her foggy, ghostly headwings. "He headed to your herdlands not long ago. He is preparing to challenge me. For mating rights. If I win, I get a mare from your herd. Any guesses who?" He hinted, now almost completely blanketed by the darkness of the forest border, his eyes just piercing through it's intimidating haze.

Good. Her heart was slowly calming itself down, along with the tornado of emotions she was feeling. "What do you mean, he left?" Sauda's eyes widened. Wouldn't she have known of this? Her thoughts dwelled on where Evan could have went if not home, until Nori's tail made contact with her headwings. The appendages immediately closed together, tucking themselves close to her ears. Without giving any notice at her reaction, Nori continued to speak. She felt a wave of relief at the knowledge that her brother was finally heading home. Mother and father will be very pleased to see that he has finally come to realize that his home is with us. But, Nori spoke of a challenge... and a prize? For mating rights? Sauda couldn't suppress the sudden giggle that slipped past her lips. How absurd!
The reply she gave him wasn't well thought out. "I can understand why it would be for 'mating' rights, of all things." Sauda smirked, more to herself than at the male. Her tail unwrapped itself from her leg and slithered over to drag across one of Nori's back legs. "You couldn't get a girl by your personality alone, now could you? That wet dog smell mustn't help," a giggle escaped through her lips after she was done speaking. Her tail made a trail up his leg before dropping back to her side. She really was going too far with him. Why was she trying so hard to provoke the male? If he outright attacked and killed her, she knew that there was a good chance that their herd would retaliate. It would start a small war between their clans, ending with injuries, maybe even deaths, from both sides. How would Neria and Sylar feel if they lost her, after already losing their son? But Evan was supposedly back now. Everything would go back to 'normal' if what Nori said was true.
Wait a second. He's going to get a mare from my herd? Sauda quieted down. By the tone he took, the mare must be something special. Her eyes flickered up to his and then back down to the ground to think. It couldn't be Rosabis. She was recently lifemated to Kai- a pairing that made Sauda literally squee with happiness. It couldn't have been her mother, and surely not her grandmother. Sauda's eyebrows scrunched together. Who? The realization hit her hard. No no no no. Never. Nuh-uh. Her red eyes glanced up towards the smug look on Nori's face. s**t. Why the heck would Evan bet her of everyone? She wasn't his to offer up. Sure, it was a way to get her brother back, but what if he lost? Did she really want to spend the rest of her life with him? Sauda shuttered visibly. He would expect her to- Ew. No. That was never going to happen. She would die before she let that happen. Her feelings summed themselves up in two words. "You wish."

What in the world? Nori slammed his hoof down into the ground, scattering the terrain across the flooring. What did she mean by that..? He glared at her, processing what she meant, curious of the answer - obviously mocking him. Ah. That's what she was getting at. Her touching made it all the more worse for her situation. He grit his teeth. Irritated by the direspect. He had to keep calm, he would need her to be breathing when the time came but she was persistant that 'he' wasn't good enough for her. Nori snorted, like she was the best mare in the lands, her mutations and short mane, cocky as a guy. She didn't posses the features of a gorgeous beauty, she was just like him a misfit to this world. Compliments, insults that he didn't care about, her thinking she was too good for him now that ticked him off.
There was just one thing wrong with her rebelling...
He smirked, turning as she shivered to her detest of the hooved beast, walking back till he was placed right by her tiny frame; throwing his jaws to her in the form of an attack, before simply just putting them to her ear and grinning sinisterly. "You won't have a choice. So get used to it." His aura was not a kind one, giving off vibes of pure hatred with no means for redemption. As the chance arised, he slammed his back leg down on top of her slender tail, trapping it between his foot and the flooring. She couldn't go anywhere. Fun was over. Now why didn't he think of this before? Trap her there, his prize just being kept there as a deposit. Lose a son, gain one again, lose a daughter. The imps would break apart like snapping a toothpick. They couldn't do anything for fear of Neria's daughter being slautered. Perfect.
"Too bad it had to be like this but your not going anywhere." Bringing his mighty head back, he shoved it forward in attempt to strike her, a mighty power behind the blow, his whole body thrusted in to it. This should be easy. He thought with confidence.
