Jessamine glided silently through the forest, enjoying the sweet darkness billowing around her, she loved the night. loved the serene and untouchable beauty of the stars, the melancholy glow of the moon. Her ivory coat was pristine and shimmered slightly as she weaved between the tree trunks.
Her surroundings were vaguely familiar and a sweetly intoxicating scent caressed her nostrils and drew her foreword, towards what she could only begin to imagine, it was as though she was no longer in control of her body and moved almost against her will.
Her stomach bulged slightly from her latest kill, the bloodstained cleaver was safely stored away where no one could find it, she would retrieve it later, when she left this territory. It somehow seemed the right thing to do. The bloodstains on her coat she had washed away in a nearby stream, however necessary it was for her to hunt, she wished it didn't make such a mess, Jessamine absolutely hated getting messy. At least for now her mind was clear, she wouldn't feel the pangs for quite some time....
She hissed with irritation as one of her many bows caught on a branch and untied itself. She had stopped paying attention to where she was going, she hated it when that happened. She tossed her mane in irritation, silvery white waves flashing, and stomped her foot childishly. How dare that branch get in her way, how dare it besmirch her perfection.
Especially here.
The thought bubbled to the surface, she tilted her head prettily and considered it, her rage from a moment before forgotten in a rush of puzzlement. She had the vaguest memory of a magnificent stallion, crimson curls, and vibrant wings, a heady warmth started at her hooves and twisted up to her stomach.
A small animal burst from the underbrush, startling her in her reverie and making her teeth ache for her cleaver. She lurched foreword and snapped out of habit, of course missing the creature.... What had she been thinking about?
She started moving again, the long satin ribbon hanging forgotten in the branch, searching for....something...

Devicius moved slowly, for he was in no hurry to locate the scent that now floated on the air. The smell was familiar, and very welcome. In fact, it was one that he had permitted to stay around more than just one night, and one that he felt an attraction towards unlike any other.
It was the smell of Jessamine.
He grinned, thinking of the time that he had already spent with her. The mare was beautiful, beyond all doubt, and had the softest coat Devicius had ever felt. He relished the feeling of her body next to his, especially in the coolness of the night. It was unlike anything he had ever felt, or anything that he had ever experienced--he was a Romeo, a Casanova stallion, and never held on to a single mare for this long. But something about Jessamine made her stick out, and he didn't feel like giving her up.
He soon came into sight of the white mare, and nodded his head in greeting, his pace quickening on an excited note. He walked to her side, letting his wings trail along her snowy fur, and then came to rest with his neck draped over her own, his nose breathing in the sweet scent of her mane.
"Have you had a pleasant evening, Jessamine?" he murmured, letting the intricate name roll over his tongue. He nosed the purple bow in her hair, his eyes running over her pristine body. Hmm... that was strange... was there a missing bow? He brushed the thought off as he grinned, nuzzling her ear with his velvety nose.

Jessamine's heart skipped a beat as Devicius strode into view. The last remnants of her episode releasing their tendrils on her mind and allowing her to think clearly. Well, as clearly as she was able to whenever Devicius was within a miles radius.
She felt a twisting tug in her stomach, the familiar sensation of drowning in his gaze...A tingling shudder rippled down her flanks as his silky wing brushed her side. His smell was...intoxicating, teasing.
"Devicius..." She murmured, her voice clear and musical. How could she have forgotten him even in her rage? No other had caught her attentions like this before, others were washed out and bland compared to Devicius. Despite the time they had spent in each others company she felt as though she knew him no more than she had the day they first met. Strangely it didn't bother her, but rather rekindled her excitement at each new encounter.
Jessamine sighed and shook herself out of her musings. "It could be described as such." She agreed after a moment, her thoughts trailing off to the carefully concealed cleaver at the edge of the forest, her teeth were aching again.
"There have been a few...things I have had to attend to these past few days Devicius, but I'm sure you managed to entertain yourself regardless..." Her voice trailed off vaguely but she gazed up at him with wide innocent eyes brimming with amusement.
She would not reveal what she had been doing the last few days and she doubted he would either, It was almost always thus, she didn't mind.
She buried her nose in his mane and breathed in, wrinkling her nose as the beads and feathers tickled the sensitive skin. She had missed him, but would not allow herself to admit it, it was best to just enjoy the little moments as they came.
"Are the stars not beautiful tonight Devicius?" she dreamily whispered in his ear. She surrendered to the spell he so easily wove around her. It was not unpleasant, and it soothed her for the moment.

Devicius accepted her embrace, curling his neck around her own in a soft hug. Her touch sent pleasant shivers down his spine, and his wings relaxed at his sides as she willed him to relax. She always did that to him, made him feel comfortable and defenseless, as if nothing else in the world mattered. But perhaps it didn't--when she was around, all he saw was her gleaming white coat, her bright red eyes, those delicate violet bows in her feathery hair. Despite the fact that he hardly knew anything about her, he felt as if he had known her all his life.
"I have managed, of course. But there is not a night that I do not think of your warm embrace, and pray for you to return to my side as fast as the wind may bid." There he went again, murmuring those sweet words. They would mean nothing to any other mare, and be as empty as a desert. But to Jessamine, he poured his soul into them, and meant every syllable of velvety tenderness.
Devicius nodded, his head drifting closer to hers as she whispered in his ear. It was almost as if an invisible force drew him to her, and he could not resist it.
"Yes, the stars are quite beautiful. But they still can not sum up to the beauty that I see in you," he replied, turning to look her in the eyes. It was strange, the things that he saw there. There was attraction, allure, lust, perhaps even love. But there was always something else, something he could not discern from her crimson gaze... however, he could never dwell on it for more than a few seconds, and had to turn his attention back to the small patch of sky that was visible from the small clearing.
"But you know, the stars can not be easily seen from the forest. You and I, we will have to travel one day, perhaps to the plains, or the mountains--and we can see them in all their glory, with the sky ahead as open as the sea."

Jessamine sighed, relaxing into his body and enjoying the comfort of his embrace. It was nice to feel wanted, she enjoyed the strange bond they shared, wondered where it would take them in the future. Her feelings for Devicius went deeper than his beauty, the allure of his flesh, but she couldn't open herself to those feelings, not yet, she refused to leave herself vulnerable.
And yet....she nuzzled him, wondering at the tenderness that wrapped around her heart like a vice and refused to retreat. If he knew her dirty secret... she swallowed a slightly hysterical giggle.
Her crimson orbs glowed softly as she stepped back to look him in the eyes, "truly?" She chimed, taken aback, "You would travel with me?" She had never thought he would leave this place, his place. He never ceased to surprise her.
Her face was closed, her eyes gazed at him as though from a distance. Her heart twisted unforgivingly. If only she could stay like this, the clear peaceful days immediately after her episodes were cherished but not long lived. Soon, the cravings would return, the pieces that composed Jessamine would splinter and finally shatter into thousands of pieces leaving only the seemingly insatiable beast that slumbered in the depths of her soul. That monster would not care if it was Devicius who slumbered next to her, would not recognize the face that had grown precious to her, would find the smell of his blood more intoxicating than any feelings she held for him.
"Someday perhaps," her smile was bittersweet.

Devicius nodded, pleased at her excited reaction when he told her he'd travel with her. He was surprised that she had reacted in such a way, though--did she really think that he'd never leave his little forest dwelling? He felt like he could do anything for her, for this beauty that made his blood run like fire and his heart beat like a drum. Did she not see how willing he was to throw his old life away, to become new for her?
But then, deep in his heart, a familiar feeling arose. It was a need for deception and lust, the need to play the game that he had based his life upon. Though his sporadic love was ready to throw all he knew away, the depths of his mind knew that he'd never truly be cured of what he was--besides, he WAS the Angeni of Allure. To settle down... would be a strike against his very being. A blow to his name!
He turned to gaze at her, and to his surprise, saw something akin to what he was feeling in her own crimson orbs. For a second, curiosity struck him, and he wondered if she, too, was hiding something that could change their relationship forever. But he did not dwell on it long, for he feared that it would cause him to grow wary of her. Instead, he wiped the treacherous thoughts from his mind, and focused on her glowing form only.
"Someday, of course. For now, I am content to stay by your side in this place. It suits us well, I think." He smiled back at her, though his features were now too not as genuine as before. It seemed as if a heavy weight had perched upon his shoulders, and he knew that it would never fall off.
"So what do you feel like doing tonight, Jess? A walk through the woods, a midnight graze, or a bath in the stream, perhaps? Whatever you wish, my beauty."

Jessamine shifted as she felt a wave of emotion rise in Devicius, she looked in his eyes and felt for a moment as though she were laid bare before his gaze. She looked away, lowering her eyelashes shyly and moved so that she stood next to him, her side brushing against him with each slow breath.
She considered his question, eyes thoughtful. She leaned against him again, nuzzling under his chin. "I have something I want to show you," She stopped only once to check and see if he was following before continuing foreword. she would show him her haven, the place she stayed during her moments of clarity.
It really wasn't far from where Devicius resided, she mused to herself as she walked with him to another section of the forest.
The birch woods were beautiful, their motley white trunks stretching up gently across a circle of grassy slopes starred with masses of small white flowers. The purple shoulders of a waterfall reared above the tall trees and one if it's many small streams wound it's way through the small clearing within.
Jessamine looked at Devicius, not allowing her nervousness to show in her face, this place was dear to her heart, as was he. As of yet, neither had been touched by her corruption, she hoped to keep it that way.

Devicius revered the feeling of her soft breaths, causing her delicate side to brush against him with each slight movement. Warmth generated in his chest, spreading outwards, to his body and extremities. He leaned forward as she nuzzled his chin, trying to keep contact as long as possible--but there was no mistaking the nervous tone in her voice, and it served to worry him. But he only nodded, trusting her as he trusted no one else, and walked along with her.
The scenery that met his eyes nearly made him gasp--the clearing in which they now stood was easily more beautiful than his own. His eyes drifted over the white-barked trees, the white flowers, the moonlight dancing over the crystalline surface of the water. IT all seemed so perfect, as if it had co-evolved straight from the earth alongside the perfect mare that stood before him. Her white coat fit in with the background perfectly, each complementing the other in the most intoxicating way.
He gazed at her lovingly, noticing her slight nervousness. He couldn't imagine what it might be from--he wasn't upset with her in any way, and wanted her to know. So he stepped forward and embraced her, folding his four wings around her smaller body, rubbing her neck gently.
"Jess, it is beautiful. Is this your home?" His eyes were soft, and completely devoid of any other lecherous thoughts. His mind was completely on her--in that moment, he truly believed, with all his heart, that he loved her.

Jessamine offered him a gentle heartfelt smile as she nodded. She was content to stand next to him as she gazed at the scene before them. This place struck a pure chord in her heart, made her feel peaceful amidst the chaos that was her existence. Devicius allowed her the illusion of a potential to have a normal life. Her full stomach and the coppery tinge of blood flavoring her breath put the lie to her fantasies. She was no Kalona, no mythical skinwalker, it should not be her nature to crave flesh and yet....
She met his gaze, so gentle and understanding, and couldn't help wondering how he would react if she showed him her cleaver, if he understood fully what sort of creature he courted. His embrace made her want to melt, she wanted to admit everything to him, but she couldn't speak past the ball of fear roiling in her gut. She just couldn't trust him to accept her for what she truly was, a monster.
But how could she lie to him, to Devicius, how could she try to keep him with lies, no matter how strongly she believed she was falling in love with him. When it came down to it, the soquili he knew was just a pleasing mask.
Jessamine opened her mouth to say as much, to admit her feelings, and to expose her darkest secrets and desires, but was stricken silent by a curious twisting sensation that rolled across her stomach. She let out a quiet gasp, thankfully muffled by the roaring of the waterfall and could only stare at him, her mind wiped blank upon realizing the horrible and wondrous implications of that fluttering movement.
In that instant, she knew that she could not bear to drive him away with the truth, not tonight, not until she could be certain her sneaking suspicion was correct. Until then, she would enjoy the time she had left with him.
A coy smile graced her features as she playfully nuzzled him, "You are welcome to stay the night if you wish of course." she murmured against the velvet warmth of his coat. Allowing his alluring aura to overwhelm her senses, a pleasant distraction from harsh reality. "Tonight, I will share my home with you."
