Oh the library. It was most certainly one of Pippin's favorite places in the world for many reasons. He loved books, they fueled his imagination and cured his boredom. He had also met on of his best friends in the whole wide world Europa there, what could be better?

He could only hope this trip would turn out just as successful as he walked down the rows. His mother sat at a table, reading her own book, seeming to get lost in the cheesy little romance novel.

Pippin continued to wander, looking around for something that seemed perfect. Too bad he hadn't been recommended anything his level lately.

It seemed that Lirona was frequenting bookstores and libraries more and more these days. First Ty's shop, then reuniting with Ebony, then this! She smiled gently to herself; at this rate, she'd become a downright scholar. Silas' library card clutched by Jake, she browsed the Fiction section a little timidly; she had no idea where to start.

So focused was she on finding a good book to read that when Lira rounded the corner, she bumped into someone smaller than she. Squeaking slightly, she stepped back with a startled blush, smiling apologetically. "Oh! I'm s-s-so sorry! I was, uh, just l-looking for a book. A little too hard, I guess," she said with an embarrassed giggle. Looking the child over, she couldn't stop from staring a little at the massive headwings, bigger than she'd ever seen.

Pippin felt someone knock into him, frazzling him a bit but causing no more harm than a slightly temporary loss of balance. He straightened his glasses (though they hadn't been significantly moved), placing them on his nose as usual. his eyes flickered over to the other, turning his head slightly, "It's okay, you were just really excited for a new book." he guessed. The young spawn supposed it was possible, after all maybe she was looking for a very exciting book.

After a moment's thought the boy suddenly had a very good idea, "Hey, you know any good books? I can't find one, there's so many..." he trailed off a bit, his eyes rising to see the massive expanse of the library. He felt like he'd never find the book without the right help. "If not it's okay..." he said, figuring the other might not want to help him. He didn't want to pressure them, and his cheeks flushed from being a bit shy around people still.

Lirona smiled in her sweet apologetic way at the boy. He certainly seemed to be a sweetheart, what with his cute little sweatervest and cute little ponytail and cute big glasses. "I guess you could call it that. I still should have watched where I was going," she added as she scuffed her impressive boot on the floor. Jake reached out and pet the boy's hair affectionately as best he could, which was his own way of apologizing.

Lirona was slightly surprised at the boy's question, but quickly warmed up tot the idea behind it. It wasn't as if she had a specific destination, either, and it made sense to try and find it together. "Not off the top of my head, no. In fact, I was looking for them when I found you. I would love to look with you; they have to be hiding here somewhere!" She giggled a little awkwardly, having been out of practice, and then bent down, extending her hand. "I'm Lira. What's your name?"

Pippin shook his head, obviously dismissing the event since it was an accident, "No worries, you didn't mean to and neither did I, so it's alright." he said, a bit less frazzled now. He giggled slightly at the tentacle, still such a foreign idea to him, even after having had previous exposure. It didn't bug him, not at all, he just didn't have them himself so he wasn't as used to them. "Well hello there." he said in greeting.

Pippin grinned when the other agreed to looking around with him, "Alright, I can never seem to find really good books by myself." he admitted, twiddling his fingers as he looked down before the other held out a hand. He looked back up, taking it and smiling, "Hi Lira, my name is Pippin." he introduced himself, sounding rather proper. The boy obviously had manners to go with his apparel.

Lirona smiled at the younger boy's polite acceptance of her apology, finding it refreshing for someone so young to be so courteous. She couldn't help smiling as Jake batted the large headwings in response. "Oh, and that's Jake. He should be nice, though he might try to go after one of your pretty feathers." As she spoke, Jake swayed around the nearer wing, pointedly not touching it, as if he was offended that such a thing was suggested.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Pippin," the transgirl said with a cheery smile as they shook hands. Inwardly, Lira couldn't help but giggle at the boy's name; it was completely adorable! After looking down the various hallways of the library, she pointed down one at random. "Shall we, then? O-Or are you looking for a specific kind of book? To be honest, I have no idea how to navigate this place," she admitted with an embarrassed chuckle.

Pippin giggled and smiled, he had always been amused by tentacles. He held out a finger, as to pet the tentacle and laughed at the mention of wanting a feather. "My feathers? Pretty? They're just gray, not a pretty gold or anything! But thanks, you can have one if you want. I don't mind." he pet one of his headwings, ready to take out a feather if one was desired. It didn't really hurt plucking one or two, it was just like hair to him.

Looking in the direction Lira started he nodded, "Yeah, sure! I don't have a certain type of book, I like readin' just about anything, so it's okay." he said with a quick nod, following the lady down the hall. "But if you have a type we can go look for it, it's alright. I can help you. I don't know my way around the best, but I bet I can figure it out." Pippin had been to this place many a time, and was sure he could manage. And worst case scenario he could use one of the computers to look up a section!

No sooner had those words fallen from Pippin's mouth then Jake was shooting out, nabbing one of the gray feathers before Lirona could stop him. The spawn gasped and glared at her eager tentacle, afraid that he'd hurt the poor boy. "Jake! Don't be so rude! Oh, I'm sorry, he just got, uh, excited I guess," she apologized with a bashful smile. Jake didn't even register the reprimand he'd been given, nuzzling the feather dutifully.

Lira smiled warmly at the cute boy and nodded. "Alright, sounds like a plan!" With that, she led the way down the corridor - the Romance & Mystery section, incidentally - browsing with a mild curiosity. "Mm, I don't think I'm looking for a specific type..." she replied half-over her shoulder. "I'm not that big a reader, honestly, so I guess I'm just getting my bearings. What would you recommend?"

Pippin jumped as the feather was taken from him, not out of pain but merely an unexpected shock. Once he realized what he had done he giggled, "You scared me!" he laughed lightly, showing there was no pain received in the action. "S'okay, it didn't hurt, just surprised me." the young boy explained, pushing up his glasses as he always had a habit of doing.

Pippin himself had to think about what he would recommend, it was certainly a tough decision. After all, he had read many books of many different kinds, "Umm, I don't know silly. I don't know what kind of stuff you're interested in! We might like totally different stuff! I kinda like mystery books because of my friend, but that's just me." after having spoken so much the boy quieted himself, he never spoke this much to strangers. Perhaps it was because of the topic, he did love books after all.

Lira smiled in relief when she realized that Pippin wasn't hurt because of her. It was kind of annoying how she couldn't control Jake all the time now, even though that was a thought that she would never say out loud. She giggled along with Pippin. "Well, that's good!"

Lira shrugged shyly when Pippin laughed and glanced away, a slight blush on her face. "Y-Yeah, that makes sense. I don't really knew what kind of book I like either. Though a mystery sounds good!" she added with a hopeful smile as they approached, conveniently, the Mystery/Thriller section. Blinking, she stepped almost shyly into the aisle. She browsed for a moments before Jake selected a book at random and brought it to Lira's attention. She took it from him and read the inside flap curiously, a slow smile appearing on her face. "Ooh, 'Violets Are Blue.' This sounds interesting." She looked up at Pippin and held the book towards him. "Have you read this one? Is it any good?"

Pippin flashed a smile at Jake, wanting to reassure Lira that the tentacle had not harmed him in any way, and that the two seemed to be in fact on good terms.

At her question Pippin looked over, gazing at the book for a moment, "No, but I bet it's good. It's got a pretty cover at least." a slight laugh, "I haven't read much 'cept when mother or Eurie read to me. I can't do it alone really." the boy was still quite young for that, and he rather hated it. He didn't like how he had to wait until it was convenient for others to enjoy a good story. For some reason the ones on tv just didn't do it for him.

Drawing circles with his toes he turned to look at Lira, "You can read it, and then tell me if it's good!" he offered with a wide grin, hoping the fact that he hadn't read it wouldn't deter the other from enjoying it.

Lira gave Pippin a slightly surprised look when he said that he couldn't read. He certainly looked like the kind of boy who read a lot, not to mention was definitely older than a toddler. Therefore, it struck her very odd. However, she didn't let it get her too far down, and she smiled warmly at the smaller boy. "Yeah, it does look pretty, huh? Of course, that's not really what you should judge a book cover on," she added with a chuckle.

She walked back down the aisle towards Pippin, trying to think of a way to include him in the... reading experience. It just didn't seem fair that a boy at the library couldn't read a book by himself. "Um... I don't know, that doesn't sound like fun. I'm sure we can find a book here for you to read to. And-And then we can compare notes and, uh, trade!" With a smile, she bent down and began examining the shelves, reading the titles out half to herself and half to Pippin. "Um, uh, there's a lot of things here by this guy named Sir Arthur Conan Doyle... Dean Koontz wrote a new 'Frankenstein'... ooh, and Stephen King! I've seen one of his movies!" Eventually she realized that she was rambling, and she turned back to Pippin with a sheepish smile. "Am I really helping or just being annoying?"

Pippin's story was mostly a lie, he could read, and was actually very intelligent, he was just fearful that if anyone knew he would have to... read aloud, in which case he always stuttered and managed to make a royal fool out of himself, so it was easier just to say he couldn't do it.

A nod to the cover idea he smiled, "Yeah, looks aren't everything." he agreed wholeheartedly as Lira continued to tell him about so many books he wanted to read.

Looking at titles himself he smiled, "Here's a bunch of Steven King ones, he must write a lot..." he said, laughing nervously and hoping the other wouldn't catch the fact that he had to read the titles to be aware of this.

"No! You're not annoying, it is helping. I like hearing you talk about this stuff, it's nice. I like people who like books and stuff..." he stated, looking at the ground as he figured he sounded foolish in one way or another as always.

As it happened, Lira missed the fact that Pippin had successfully read the titles of the books to make his comment, and so merely nodded with a smile. "Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure he's written, like, thirty or something. And they're all horror, I believe, and a lot of them have been made into movies. That must mean he's really good, don't you think?" Lira's question was genuine; she had no idea if any of the Stephen King books were worth reading or not. Inwardly, she promised to herself to read more actual books instead of magazines and what-have-you. It was probably good for her.

She smiled warmly at the smaller boy and nodded, Jake reaching out to stroke one of his headwings gently. "Well, I wouldn't really say I know a lot about books; I'm mostly just blathering. But I'm still enjoying myself, and it's still fun," she said with a reassuring nod at the quiet boy.

Glancing at the shelves once again, Lira's eyes brightening as she saw two copies of the same book: Misery, by (oh my god, who could have guessed) Stephen King. Plucking the two of them up, she offered one to Pippin. "Ooh, look, two copies of the same thing! We could both read it and then talk about it later, if you wanted. I don't know, does it look interesting to you?" she asked. She didn't want to impose upon the boy's tastes; if he knew of a different book, or a better book, she'd be more than happy to read it instead.

Pippin nodded after her explanation of Stephen King's books. Generally good books were movies, she had a point, so therefore she had to have been right that he was a good righter. With another small nod he smiled, "Yeah, you're right. I bet he's the best writer ever if he's had that many books turn into movies." This thought honestly left the boy impressed, and even a little amazed. Maybe he should be a writer, then all of his books could be turned into movies and he'd be as great as Stephen King someday too.

Petting at Jake as Jake did the same to his headwing he smiled, "You seem to know a lot, I bet you know more than you think and stuff." he said with a smile, trying to be reassuring on the idea towards the other spawn.

Pippin observed the book that was held out to him, Misery. By the best author in the world, how could he not want to read it? Reaching out a careful hand he took the book, gazing at it for a moment before raising his head towards Lira once more, "Sure, we can. I bet it'll be fun talking to someone besides mother about a book!" he said with an excited grin, his wings fluttering a tiny bit in excitement. "You can call me when you're done, and maybe I'll be done too?" he proposed, sure he was a slower reader than the other.
