We all have times we get angry. Unless we are the mellowest of people. But when we do, how do we handle it? Do we beat whatever is making us angry to a pulp? Or do we count to 10? Or meditate? A couple of my "friends" are talking behind my back about me, saying Im hypocritical, because I dislike stereotypes, but I am, and I call myself, a hippie. I don't view hippie as a stereotype, I view it as a way of life. But it angers me that these "friends" would talk about me. So I chill out, and listen to music, maybe meditate a little. What do you do?

Usually I try to find a good debate in some forum or another that I can get really worked up about.

I drum! I just (finally) got one of those African Djembes. Whenever I'm feeling angry, depressed, blissed-out or pretty much any emotion, I DRUM IT OUT!
I highly recommend trying it.

Just don't try alcohol to drown your problems, trust me, bad idea. Try shoot-em-up video games or something. If that's not your taste, go for a walk, or a hike. get your mind off the subject and try to think of the situation as "insignificant" or something. People are bound to talk s**t. I know how it goes, just try not to let it get to you.

Usually when I'm upset, I grab my viola and start playing a certain scale over and over until I get it perfect. Sometimes I also write bad poetry when I'm upset. wink
But I know what it's like to be talked about. People usually avoid me at school because they don't want to get into an argument with me. (This has been happening ever since I said that a chimp was worth more than Terri Schiavo.)

I also tend to see the big picture in relation to my problem. This usually makes me realize that it won't make a difference in the scheme of things, and then I try to ignore whatever made me angry. You see, when you react to people like your "friends", you only give them the satisfaction of knowing they got to you. Being around nature also helps. Or cleaning something. (But not anything glass... sometimes the cleaning can get a bit violent. rofl )
Everyone handles anger differently, and it is true that some people don't handle it as well as others. But don't let that get in the way of living your life as hippie, or whatever you bloody well want to be. wink

I relelease my anger by listening to loud angry music, something like Tool. And after I've done that for long enough, I relax, and listen to some hip-hop. cool

So the store that I was working at just closed today and we SMASHED things!
It was WAY wasteful but ultra satisfying. They wouldn't let us take anything without paying for it anyway.
But yeah, we SMASHED some tvs. MAN how I highly recommend trying it.

I crochet. It gives me something to do with my hands besides hurt someone, whilst giving me time to sort things out.

When I'm angry... it's kind of hard to remain angry because I'm not a very angry person. Or a violent person. So I just fume away silently until it sort of burns away and makes me feel depressed, so I then go and sulk in my room, daydream, listen to music, or bum around online. Or go for a walk maybe. It goes away eventually. 3nodding
