Achilles:: -bashfully smiles, taking a tiny step back-

Caroline: Oh, it's OK, sweetie. I'm not gunna hurt 'chu. -offers her hand for him to look at or sniff, which ever-

Achilles:: -jumps back and flattens his ears against his head- That's what that lady said... and she bit me...

Caroline: Biting? Goodness, no wonder you are so skittish! No, dear. No biting from me. I reserve my teeth for food or talking. Little else. -happy smile-

Achilles:: -slowly perks his ears forwards and takes cautious steps towards her.- My name is Achilles...

Caroline: What a lovely name. Like from the stories? -smiles- I'm Caroline. How d'ya do?

Achilles:: -giggles softly and starts to let his guard down. She seems nice enough.- Yes, like the stories. Caroline... that's pretty. Heh, I'm good. How are you? -swishes his tail around so he can pet it lightly to calm his nerves.-

Caroline: I'm quite lovely. It's a pretty night out, hm? -looked up at the stary sky before she sat on the grass, adjusting her skirt- I loved the story of Achilles. Sad what happened to him. He was a good guy, too.

Achilles:: -bites his lip and never really heard the story but he knows of the story.- C-caroline... c-could you... could you tell me the story? I've never heard it before.

Caroline: I will! You just plop yerself down in fronta me, OK? Make yourself comfortable.

Achilles:: -lights up happily and sits right down in front of her, pulling his tail into his lap and playing with it as he looked up at her with an excited expression.-

Caroline: -pulls her hair over her shoulder and thread her fingers through it as she recounts the tail for him- Achilles story begins when Calchas prophesies that in order for the Greeks to take Troy, they would need the aid of Achilles. Thetis, Achilles mother knew that if Achilles went into this battle, he would die. She then sent young Achilles to Scyros where he was hidden away and disguised as a girl. Eventually, Achilles was caught by the crafty Odysseus, who placed some armor in with the women's things and caught Achilles as he was the only one to be fascinated by the hardware. Achilles then agreed to venture off with Odysseus to Troy, leading an army of his father's people, the Myrmidons, his tutor Phoenix and his close friend Patroclus

Caroline: -takes a breath and smiles before continuing, voice soft-

Caroline: Once at Troy, Achilles quickly showed himself to be an unbeatable warrior. Along the way, Achilles captured many towns in the Trojan territory. In the town of Lyrnessos, he took the woman Briseis as his own personal prize. In the midst of the war, Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks, was forced by an oracle of Apollo to give up Chryseis, his own prize. He then proceeded to take Briseis from Achilles to make up for his loss. This of course began the central plot of the Illiad. After Briseis was taken, Achilles was enraged and refused to fight. From there on out, the war turned in the Trojan's favor. The Greeks pleaded and begged Achilles to return to battle, but he refused. His best friend Patroclus then asked to fight in his place, wearing his armor. Achilles agreed to this and the next day Patroclus was killed and the armor of Achilles was taken by Hector, who thought Patroclus was Achilles.

Caroline: Achilles then got into a fit of utter rage. I mean he was REALLY ticked off at the death of his best friend. Thetis then got Achilles new armor made by Hephaestus, and he returned to the war and slayed Hector. Achilles the proceeded to drag the body behind his chariot in front of Troy and refused to allow Hector's body to be properly buried. When King Priam secretly entered into the Greek camp to plead for the body, Achilles gave in and allowed him to take the body. This is one of the more intriguing parts of the Illiad as Achilles showed complete respect for Priam who for all intents and purposes was the enemy.

Caroline: From there, Achilles went on to defeat many foes and fight heroically until finally Paris, with help from Apollo, shot Achilles with a poison arrow in the one place where he was vulnerable...his heel. This of course is where we get the expression "Achilles Heel" basically meaning your weakness. No matter how great you may be, you'll always have a weakness, your Achilles Heel. -giggles a bit and gives him a happy grin-

Achilles:: -soaks in all the information with wonder.- Aw... I die? .... Y_Y I don't like that story.... -doesn't like the thought of death in general.-

Caroline: Well, I'll help you continue living so you don't end up like the other one. -reaches out to tap his nose very lightly, wanting to tickle him more than anything-

Achilles:: -sneezes after being tapped on the nose- Heh, what was that for?

Caroline: It seemed like a good idea. -laughs softly and then turns her attention to a firefly-

Achilles:: -tilts his head curiously- Hm? What is that thingy? -wanders over to it but it flies away from him quickly- Ah! -stumbles back and falls on his butt-

Caroline: -giggles a bit and watches him- That, kitten, is a firefly. That light helps them see at night!

Achilles:: It scared me... -stands up and rubs his tail bone. He yawns and rubs his eyes.- I'm sleepy Caroline.... I think I'm going to head back home. It was nice to meet you. I do hope to see you again. You're a nice lady. -smiles lightly at her-

Caroline: I stay out here, mostly, dear. I will see you when we run into each other again! -gives him a smile back-

Achilles:: Oh, okay then. Buh bye! -waves before scampering off to go back to The Ruins.-
