me: "im still lagging lito bit"
other person in crew: "im still lagging... "a little" bit"

... Pidgin. Hawaiian creole english or the crap that it's evolved into? "Ho you went go mall wit da kine Kathy?" That is wrong on so many levels. It should be "You went mall with Kathy?" Hawaiian: "Ua hele aku oe i ke kikowaena ku`ai me Kathy?" Another one "You going go movies or what?" should be "You going to the movies?" Hawaiian: "E hele aku ana `oe i ke ki`i onioni?" The worst part is the people who say "You going go" or "I went try" or something like that. It's like where the hell did you guys get that from? I mean seriously. I'm pretty sure some California haoles made it popular by trying too hard to speak pidgin.

Yeah ... I moved to California and people up here do not even try to speak pidgin ... not even a little bit. Not even in SoCal, they like the whole surfer talk. No one up here even knows what "kine" means. So please stop hating on people and learn to chill out a little. It's okay that people speak different dialects and slang. It's normal human behavior.

I don't speak pidgin but I wasn't raised in Hawaii my whole life. I was originally from Oklahoma but I had to move to Hawaii so my parents could take care of my sick grandpa.

If you're going to dream, dream big.
I don't speak Pidgin, either, but I somewhat understand it when I run into somebody who does. Most of the people I know speak regular slang that my friends from the Mainland speak, too, so usually I don't have any problems.

I can, but I usually don't.

Like a good amount of local kids, I can talk a little but if I try go full on, I sound like a Haole (No offense to you if you are sweatdrop ) from the mainland. Which is why I don't try.

HOWEVER, that doesn't mean I look down on Pidgin. I quite like Pidgin actually and I like listening (and yes, I can understand what they are saying) to my grandpa and his friends and stuff (A lot of my grandpa's /local/ friend's speak in Pidgin).
