Alazne was practically vibrating with how excited she was. She was up on her father's shoulders and in her favourite clothes, a brand-new, slightly too big fedora resting on her head at a jaunty angle. The thing was a good size, though, because that meant that it could fit half-over one of her horns and look like it was supposed to. Currently, she and her dad were standing in line to see a one-night-only opening of The Godfather at an old downtown theatre.

And, by-the-way, she had the best dad ever.

Alazne hugged her dad's head one more time as she sat perched on top of him, tail flipping back and forth and occasionally accidentally hitting his wings. "Yer a stand-up guy, Pop. Best dad'n the world!!" she exclaimed excitedly, waiting in extreme anticipation for the line to start moving.

Cat beamed up at his daughter, unable to resist from laughing at her rather-odd compliment. He knew when he'd seen the advertisement for this special showing that Alazne would be as happy as a duck in water, and puffed up his wings at his new status of 'Best Dad in the World!' He reached up and patted her fedora-ed head affectionately. "No problem, sweetie-pie. Anything to be the best dad in the world."

Walking by the line was a mother and a daughter, on their way back from shopping for groceries. The little girl had dark skin and orange hair, much like one Darcy Azoulai, and the mother was a tanned brunette. They didn't look like they were at all related, but both had a simple and quick walk that looked almost identical.

Stopping, bag of groceries in hand, the toddler looked at the line before them, then up at the girl - one of the only small ones in line - before asking a question, "What is this?" she inquired, having never seen a line for a movie till that day.

Sure, Emery'd seen lines, but a movie theater hadn't exactly been an ideal place to take an emotionless toddler. At least, not till she was older - then she could do her strange staring thing at the screen and not be bothered.

Alazne of course heard the question from the other female, but didn't quite know where the words had come from. She glanced around a few times, dislodging her fedora which, as though with some kind of plan, plopped right down on top of the little orange-haired girl's head. Eyes widening at the loss of her favourite new hat, Lazzy bounced a bit on her dad's shoulders. "Down, Pop! Dropped m'hat!" she said with a bit of worry, as though the girl was going to run off with the thing. Hey, who knew, right?

When she was finally put down, the girl smiled and snatched the fedora delicately from the other, somehow managing to pull this off without seeming rude. "Terr'bly sorry 'bout that, toots," she said sweetly, bowing slightly and tipping the front of her fedora to the female before inspecting her with a critical grey eye. "Y'know, y'look famil'yar. Can't place it, though," Alazne said thoughtfully, before shaking her head.

"Right! F'rgive me for f'rgettin' mah manners. Th'name's Alazne. Y'can call me Lazzy, and this-here's a theatre. They're gon'na show The Godfather and m'Pop brought me here t'see it on the big screen. Now whom do I has the pleasure'a speakin' wit'?" she asked, seeming already quite comfortable with the girl even with her lack of visible emotion. To each their own, after all.

Emery cocked her head to the side at the other tot's speech. "What?" she asked before eventually adjusting the groceries she held and the large black satchel on her hip. "I'm Emery. What's a Godfather?"

"Nice t'make yer 'cquain-ti-nence, Em'ry," Alazne replied with a grin, leaning casually against her dad's leg as though it was little more than a living wall. He wasn't moving, after all, so it wouldn't be much of a problem if she used it like that. However, when the other girl didn't know what The Godfather was, Alazne's jaww dropped. "Only th'best movie in th'world!! Y'know, movie? Movin' pi'tures on a big ol' teebee screen?" she asked, a little bit frantically, knowing that this girl would NEED to come with them if she didn't know what a movie was, especially The Godfather.

"Oh, one of those." Emery said with a nod, "Lucas and Connor watch them about Sharks."

About this time, the tot's mother spoke up, "No, Emmie, those are documentaries. The Godfather is a movie, they're longer."

Alazne was close to a panic. This girl had never seen the best movie of all time! How could she live with herself?!! Immediately, Alazne latched onto her arm, doing her best not to disrupt all of the things that the older girl was currently holding. "You got'ta see et!!" she exclaimed, tail flipping back and forth her excitedly as she looked up at the girl's mother with wide grey eyes. "Please, momma-lady? PLEASE?!"

Marie snorted and leaned down to take the groceries from Emery. "Sure. But you gotta ask your Dad if he can help pay her way. I'm short on cash at the moment."

Emery cocked her head to the side. Her mother was sure trusting, but why not?
