"Bye Mia, see you next week!" The orange haired boy waved goodbye to a member of his dance company as he watched her disappear down the street with a crowd of other people from the same dance company. Nobody lived in the same direction as Kei, so he often walked home by himself. The boy was a bit sweaty from the day's workout, beads of sweat could be seen glistening on his forehead and along his arms and legs. Instead of changing back into his normal outfit, Kei had decided just to walk home in his practice clothes since it was a nice day and it would feel nice to walk outside in loose clothing. He was dressed in a black wife beater with a pair of white basketball shorts and a pair of his favorite black sneakers.
He ran a hand through his orange hair as he hiked up his duffel bag on his shoulder carrying his dancing stuff and made his way back to his condo like he did every Tuesday, moving southbound away from the building that his dance group practiced in in the general direction to his condo. He really didn't need to take any means of transportation or anything since his condo was only a few blocks away. The breeze and the sunshine felt nice against the boy's skin as he breathed in a bit to take in the fresh air.
As Kei continued to walk down the the street, he suddenly felt a strange urge to take a shortcut... down a street of the lower district that he had never really noticed before until just now. Kei figured that if he cut through this direction, it would actually get him to his street a little bit faster. The street was busy like any other, people wandered here and there but something about it all seemed off.
It was all a bit shady, but nothing to worry about Kei thought. Kei would just hurriedly make his way through and hope that nobody tried to mug him, it was the lower district so of course there were going to be criminals. That wouldn't be very good, since his day had gone pretty well thus far... Kei cautiously continued through, dodging out of the way of people who seemed to be in a rush when he looked up and noticed a sign with read in big letters 'Life Essentials Emporium' hanging on the front of a medium drab unsuspecting building. If Kei weren't so curious to know what it meant by Life Essentials, he most likely would have shrugged it off and continued walking. That was not the case this time though, because something about the whole really caught Kei's attention. Kei took a deep breath as he reached for the handle to the door and slowly stepped inside, curiously poking his head in first, the rest of his body following.
He allowed the door to shut behind him, now standing inside, glancing around... "Helloooo~ Anyone in here?" Kei called out with a slight cheerfulness to his voice, though hearing no other sound but his own.

Hmmm.... Nobody appeared to be here a the moment, though the front door had clearly been open, and the lights were on. Further down the hall, the straight red carpet lead out into a quite tasteful lobby, clearly in full use judging from the olderly row of black folders -with a colourful line on the rims- and the fact there were still loose stacks of paper around. Oh, and the little metal card on display proved someone was around as well. Potty break, thank you for your patience~
In a few places there were folders, flyers, even a small row of short manuals. In neat, modern plastic cases against the wall, a small stack set out on the table in the small salon, some on the reception desk itself... Feel free to snoop around, snoopy.
The air of mystery is thick, the allure of a promise calls. Certainly that ominous door at the far right of the room spelled something, but it was hard to say if it was just 'forbidden entrance' or 'doom'.

Kei wearily stared down a long hallway, seeing that he probably needed to go farther down most likely. The boy proceeded with caution since the entire place had seemed pretty suspicious since he walked in. As Kei continued on, he emerged into a lobby of some sort. There were papers all over the place, some in bins and some just laying on the desk. On a desk, there was a little sign that informed Kei that the owner had gone to the bathroom. Whether this was truth or not, Kei would just assume it was so.
Kei glanced around again, afraid to touch anything in fear he may set off a booby trap causing arrows to shoot out of the wall and proceed to pierce him, leaving him in a mangled bloody heap on the ground followed with his eventual demise from the loss of blood and being stabbed by the sharp pointy tips. By the look of this place, it was most likely that all was not what it seemed. Kei shook the thought away from his mind as he stood there in the middle of the lobby, hoping something would happen. He decided to call out again into the emptiness of the building, "Helloooo~? My name is um... Kei. I saw your shop was open, so um... I kind of just came in."

From somewhere upstairs there was a feminine call. "I'l be right there, just a moment!"
Yup, so this place indeed wasn't abandoned. Then suddenly, a green-haired woman in a proper professional outfit came poking out of a door, her cat-ears perked up sharply.
"Ah, yes, hello there sir. Hah, I'm sorry about that, I don't have a tag available saying 'drowning in a sudden rush of logistical drama'." lord, she seemed pretty busy, yet she was chuckling as she spoke. "Boss needs emergency backup out there, but once this is cleared he should be back." "Say, why not in the meantime look around for a bit, read up? Those folders say a whole lot more than I could blather right now." she suggested then, smiling, grinning.
"Just make yourself at home, no stress." She made a nippy gesture at the cosy black couches in the corner, couldn't afford more because she had her hands full with folders and a box. With a nudge at the door of her hip she at least managed to free herself, hastily dodging for her desk and setting her load down just before it would have toppled.
"You would be surprised at what we have to offer here. Marvelous life solutions, that's our business." she gave him a coy wink -check it out eh lad!-, then scuttled for the hallway again. Be right back fella!
That stack of documentation on the low table lay there quite invitingly now. They contained the basic information, never quite mentioning the word 'Essentic', but definitely alluding to their uses, the class system, the multitude of applications they had, and how this shop could provide them. Feel free to dream, Kei. These people can make most of them come true.

Kei was slightly dazed and confused after the strange woman ran down from upstairs quickly rambling about how her boss was busy and explaining about how Kei should read through the folders before she quickly ran off down the hallway. Kei wasn't able to even get a single word, so he was pretty much standing in the middle of the lobby quite dumbfounded and unsure of what to do next. "Um... okay, thanks. I think..." Kei said in response to the woman, though she was already long gone.
The boy sighed and wondered what the green haired lady had meant by 'marvelous life solutions'. What exactly was this place and what had Kei gotten himself into? Well, the lady had given him permission to read the folders on the desk, so that was probably his next best bet of what to do. Though Kei would have been much better off not having to read anything, since reading long documents gave him a headache. He slowly made his way to the table where a stack of papers laid and picked up one and began to read. It was more skimming than reading, since it the paper went on and on forever...
from what he read, this place pretty much offered a solution to problems and desires. A sort of 'tool' that would help serve and obey. In other words, sort of like a pet? Kei began to get dizzy from the reading, so he set the paper back down on the table. He was still very unsure even after skimming the paper. He decided he would just wait until whoever was in charge to get back and maybe explain things a little clearer.

About a quarter hour later, miss Longway returned, and she loked quite pleasantly surprised to still find him here.
"Anything you've found worth your time, sir?" she asked him politely, though her tone indicayed she'd have rather called him 'boy'.
"I have time now, incase you wanted to ask about what we can deliver here. Makes me wonder how old you are, you might be young enough to have missed out on the entire mess..." Naturally she was referring to the Hunt forty years ago. No doubt though, any basic education covered Essentics, stressing how they were o be avoided without ever offering an unbiased explanation why. If all sentient beings here were humans, from dragon-people to anthropomorphs to barely material beings, how come they hadn't attained the right to be human?
Timka stuck arund anyhow, giving him the room to do as he wished. Leave or stay, enquire or keep reading, it was all up to him.

Kei nodded with a smile, "Actually... from what I read in the folders, i'm actually a bit curious about what it is you offer. You say that you offer 'tools' that will help with life problems?" Kei did in fact learn about Essentics in school, but the folders themselves never once mentioned anything about Essentics, so of course the boy was clueless. Kei smiled very brightly at the woman, "Well, i'm actually only twenty... what mess are you talking about?" The boy's eyes wandered about the room a little more, before suddenly the thought struck at him.
"Wait... do you mean... what happened about 40 years ago? We learned about this when I was in high school. The great 'Essentic' ban, where the entire population of 'Essentics' were all completely wiped out. 'Essentics' were these tools that were created out of a element called Essence that helped mankind in all sorts of ways. We didn't really learn much about why they were wiped out, but all I know is that they are dangerous from what they taught us. I've always thought that they were pretty cool." Kei was still unsure with what that had to do with this shop. It took him another few moments to figure out, before he let out a small gasp...."Wait a minute, are you telling me that this place... offers Essentics?!"
Kei was more excited than ever, "This is so... totally awesome!!!" the thought of doing something highly illegal as owning an Essentic very much thrilled the young boy. He had always been so fascinated with the concept, a tool that could adapt and mimic different traits to better help people and fill all the desires of their owner... but Kei paused for a moment in his excitement. "Wait, how do I know this isn't all just a hoax? ... Do you have any proof? Like, maybe show me an actual Essentic, and I will believe you."

As Kei voiced his thoughts aloud and reconstructed the facts to eventually reach his thrilling conclusion, Timka's smile broadened and broadened, ever wider. In the end, she gave him a firm nod, with a rather gleefully smug smirk.
"Yes, that is what we do here. Don't ask me why, I still don't really know why the boss took up this business, but let's just say we don't do it for the thrill of it being illegal." she explained. Now, actually, with all recent events she was getting a rather good idea why Banning might have picked up on his strange obsession, but that wasn't something she was certain about, nor should she involve a random customer into that kind of juicy gossip.
"I assure you we're all benign, and so far we've managed to stay out of trouble. All that stuff about Essentics being a danger, that's a load of bullcrap if you ask me." she pondered aloud. "They're tools, after all. 'Guns don't kill people, people kill people.' That sort of thing." if you get my draft.
"Well, proof... I don't think I'm allowed to go and show you a Spark. Way too much trouble we've had with that." she chuckled lightly at that, ears tilted back. Oh my, that time with Faolan visiting and Ziazan bonding before they knew what'd happened... And the twins' Spark being stolen because they hadn't put it into safe storage yet. No, that definitely wouldn't happen again.
"Misha's taking a nap right now... He's worked all night, but I suppose I could go and wake him up?" Timka suggested then. "He's my Essentic, the first one we made here, and you know, just last week he grew up into his final stage. You know how it gies, Spark, Proto, Alter, Essentic. Kinda weird if you haven't been expecting it." Yeah, that was sort of awesome, in a strange way.
"It's his job to be the messenger boy for us, and we sure keep him busy. But I'm sure he wouldn't mind talking to you. Say, what was your name again?" she asked him then, already walking into the hall, gesturing for him to follow, her cat-tail arched behind her.

Kei nodded in understanding when he was reassured by the lady that Essentic's were not all dangerous as they were led to believe, "Well, I never thought they were dangerous in the first place. All living beings, no matter man made or not, should have the same right to live as anyone else..."
Kei was still completely amazed, literally bouncing up and down with excitement as he slinked along behind the woman as she led him down the hallway. A goofy grin plastered to his face, trying to contain in his energy. "Wow, I can't believe this is happening...!! I am finally going to be able to meet an actual Essentic~!!"
"My name is Kei by the way. Kei Fairbanks. What about you?" Kei asked politely. "I'm going to be a dancer someday, but of course my parents don't really approve of it. I can't wait to see the look on their faces when they see me up onstage, my name in lights~! I'm going to be famous one day and they will regret not ever believing in me." Kei didn't really understand why he had the urge to explain his life story to this random woman, but he just couldn't contain his excitement and he felt as if he needed to ramble about pointless things just so he wouldn't ended up bursting and jumping around the room in glee.

"Oh, don't make the mistakeof underestimating them either now." It had to be said, and Timka did so as she lead him on. "And seriously now, you're going to make him all awkward." heheh, don't go all fanboy now.
"Ah, I'm miss Longway, kiddo." she introduced herself quite merrily, taking a moment to listen to him before she would go into the staff room. What a sudden burst of energy, so unlike his earlier abashment, as if he'd been awkward standing on the very carpet. This suited him much better somehow.
"That's quite ambitious, and admirable that you're doing it all by yourself. No doubt it'd be easier if you had some... support, though." twinkle twinkle, hint hint. "Ah, there we go."
Timka opened the door, and slunk in, gesturing at Kei to follow her but stay back a bit. Leaving the youth by the door she then made her way over to the back of the room, where Misha had flopped on a big comfy chair to sleep and recover some energy. Back when he was younger he would have curled up like a bunny for sure, to expose as little of himself as he could, but now he laid there almost like a starfish, arms loosely hanging, one on his chest, one limp over the armrest, legs splayed out in front of him. His cap had sunk over his eyes, chest rising and falling with his steady breath.
His owner came over to him quietly, leaned down and stroked a hand over one of his soft-furred ears, now no longer that pastel teal, but a merry straw-blonde. It took only a few whispers to make him give a subtle jolt and stand up from his resting place a moment later. The doziness was still in him, and he rubbed his eyes with a knuckle to get rid of it, and then, his warm sun-drenched eyes were on Kei.
"Oh, hello." he called, at first gazing at him, observing, taxing, but then he smiled. Timka smiled with him, quite proudly, and let him walk over to Kei at his own leisure, with long, calmly controlled strides. He didn't seem much perturbed by having had his nap interrupted, and his calm manner actually made the cat-lady display a subtle blush. Oh my, she still wasn't used to how grown up he was now, all lean and quietly confident.
"I am Misha. Nice to meet you, sir."

Kei attempted to calm down a bit as not to frighten the Essentic, but that plan didn't work out too well. He still felt very jumpy and hyper. He hoped that he wasn't too frightening, he didn't want the Essentic to hate him or anything.
Kei smiled, "Well it's very nice to meet you, Miss Longway! I'm really glad that I get to meet your Essentic!" Kei beamed at Timka's compliments, "Well, I try my best and work my hardest. I'm sure that support would be nice..." Kei mulled it over in his brain a bit, before he suddenly had another idea, "Hey, do you think that Essentic's can dance? Like... as a partner of some sort?"
Kei never got the answer to his question though, since now he was standing face to face in front of an actual fully grown Essentic... his jaw literally dropped as he stood back at the door as Timka went across the room and whispered something to a humanoid bunny creature which stirred awake, rubbing his eyes and looked at Kei. Kei immediately froze, the goofy grin plastered all over his face grew ten times wider. A bit of his orange hair from his bangs fell over covering his left eye as Misha approached him and his hand only moved up to brush it away before he Kei went back to being frozen. Kei couldn't believe how unbelievably handsome the Essentic was, it was hard to imagine that it had ever been just a rock. It had Kei questioning why anybody wanted to destroy these creatures. They were exactly like any normal person, except they were artificial, but it was not as if anyone could tell just by looking at them.
"H-Hello... it's nice to meet you too Misha." Kei felt the warmth raise to his face and his cheeks could already clearly be seen turning quite scarlet under his spatter of freckles. The Essentic boy stood slightly about the same height as Kei. Kei had always been shy around any cute guy, whether artificial or not. It didn't exactly help that Misha's entire chest was partially exposed, with his shirt unbuttoned like that. Kei began to question how he looked, standing in his exercise clothing all sweaty and gross... "S-Sorry that i'm kinda nasty right now, I just got back from dance rehearsal..." Kei was now completely convinced that Essentics did in fact exist.

The only answer he got was a 'hmmhmm, sure', then Timka had already gone.
Under his owner's watchful eye, Misha took in this young human's appearance and behaviour. Good heavens, why was he looking at him like that? Grown-up or not, the bunny still felt himself squirm slightly under that fierce attention, and as if mimicking Kei's single motion, he brushed his ears behind his shoulders, shrugged a bit to get them to settle, and fluffed up the short poofy tail sticking out of his pants. While he had gathered a substantial amount of experience in short life already, any implications towards him being 'cute' had so far collectively zoared by right over his head, and this time was no different. All he knew was that somehow this young man here was behaving quite oddly, and he hoped it wasn't because of him.
"Nasty? Oh, you mean you had a workout. Well, that makes two of us then... We don't have a shower here, and I've been running all night." he tried to smile his awkwardness away, and brilliantly suceeded. "You dance?"
"Yes, Kei is aiming to become a professional dancer someday." miss Longway answered in Kei's stead. "And I believe he's getting an idea..."
"Ah, hey, bro Orpheus sings with Verdant..." Misha responded to that, and Timka grinned. Exactly. They were both getting much the same image there, they guessed.

Kei quickly apologized, "Oh, i'm sorry!! I'm not trying to make you feel awkward or anything...!!" He quickly apologized, as Kei turned his glance slightly away, squeezing his eyes shut a bit , seeing as how Misha squirmed from being looked at. "I'm not trying to seem like a creeper or anything... if you don't want me to look at you, I will stop." Kei opened one eye slightly as he was about to answer Misha's question, but Timka had already done that for him. Kei looked over at Timka with a grateful smile.
Kei did in fact have an idea forming in his head, as Timka had reiterated to Misha," Um, well... Essentics are meant to perform what ever purpose or intention given to them right?" Kei began, "Perhaps... I could obtain an Essentic that would one day grow to become my dance partner. Because you know, finding a dance partner is quite difficult since people are so busy with their lives, not having enough time to take out of their busy schedule so that they can be my dance partner. With an Essentic that can dance, I won't ever have to run around searching for a dance partner ever again. The Essentic will be able to help me rise to fame! This is be the perfect opportunity!! What do you guys think?!"
Kei had somehow broke away from his awkwardness during his short speech on his idea. He didn't even notice that Misha was still standing there right in front of him, so during his excitement he bounced up a bit and knocked right into Misha gently, falling right into the other boy.

Now now, strange kid, don't be fussed now... Misha had begun raising an eyebrow, but he didn't think making a remark on that odd behavious would help anything. Instead, he simply gave a calm nod at Kei's first question.
"That's indeed something an Essentic could do for you." Timka said to him, listening to him let his dreams spin wildly. "Verdant came to us and bonded with Orpheus to be his backup singer and a lot more. Orphy's a magicker though... enchanting voice and all that..." she mused aloud. "That eccentric streak sure fits them."
Misha could only nod, thinking this over as well, and steadying Kei when he gambolled into him without even paying the gambolling itself much heed. He merely laid his hands on the youth's shoulders and gently helped him back upright. "I get this impression that dancing together is much more personal... A dancing Essentic would be able to dance by nature and learn quickly, but working together like that would require more than charm." He too was now fllyuimmersed into this little puzzle.
"You mean a Social type would be more suited?" "Hmhm..." Their musing quickly became rather technical then, considering obscure class-dependant attributes and predispositions, until at some point, both were looking straight at Kei.
"...do you think you could handle one?" "Provide for one? Deal with its loyalty?" "We're completely dependant on our owners, you see... We can mostly look after ourselves if taught properly, but without a job to fulfill we suffer."
How about you think about that now, hmm?
