I am currently in NAS Pensacola, but I just got dropped from AE (aviation electrician) school . However, due to the circumstances of my drop I had the change to choose another schoolhouse. I got offered the following ratings:
-AO -AT -ET -IT -IC -HM
I pretty much know what they do, but I don't know much about the schools or the advancement with those ratings.
And then, there's undesignated. Could there be a good advantage of being "undes" besides coming back to a schoolhouse as a fleet returnee?

I'm an IT currently, have been for over two years now so I can give my insight into that rating field at least. The advancement to E-4 is almost 100%. E-5 is more difficult but I believe it was way above 60% last time I checked. E-6, I can't tell you because I'm not anywhere near that yet. XD
ITs are both ship and shore. A-school is fairly easy (well - when I went through), training is based on computer courses. It can give you some major advantages in the civilian world, and depending on exactly where you get and what you are assigned to do...it's a ok job. Not my first choice, but definitely alright to be in.
