{This story takes place three years after the events of Red/Blue/Green/Yellow; if Hibiki and Kotone never existed.}
"What?! Someone took the Pikachu?!" Nick asked Oak in an annoyed tone. "Relax, Nick. I'll find you a Pokemon." the elderly Professor turned away, shuffling through many Pokeballs. It was just two weeks ago, he had moved into Pallet Town. A great trainer once started there as well, at a much younger age than him, too. His name was Pink, Black, something like that.
Suddenly, a very distressed boy ran into the lab; holding a fainted Pokemon. "PROFESSOR, PROFESSOR!" he cried out. "AH!" the startled old man jumped, dropping a few Pokeballs. "MY SENTRET FAINTED!" he whined. 'The hell is a Sentret?' Nick thought to himself, looking at the odd Raccoon-ish Pokemon that lay in the boy's arms. "Place it on the table, quick!" Oak commanded.
The boy quickly and carefully placed the poor Pokemon on it. Nick was curious about it, but he observed silently. The Professor placed small objects all over Sentret quickly and skillfully. He switched on a machine and the Pokemon started glowing. "W-what?" Nick was startled by this; he was used to Pokemon being healed by herbs.
"Is she going to be okay?" the boy asked; concerned. "Yes, yes... Now, back to finding Nick his Pokemon..." Oak said, turning his attention back to the mountain of balls. (lol)
Nick let the old man do his thing, he turned his attention to the boy. "Sorry about your Pokemon... What happened?" Nick asked. "W-well, we were in Route 1, and-and... So many Pidgeys..." the boy said nervously; his eyes fixed on the Sentret. "Sorry... I'm Nick. What's your name?" he extended his hand to him.
"I'm Jessie..." he sniffed, shaking hands with Nick. "Pardon me, Nick?", Oak held up a Pokeball. "Here you go!" he said, holding out the ball. Nick noted it had an odd dent on it, and it was inscribed with a D. "Hmmm...." Nick took it as he let go of Jessie's hand.
"Sen?" the Sentret opened it's eyes and looked at Jessie. "Sen! Sentret!" it squealed happily as it jumped towards it's Trainer. In the process, the many things attached to it's body fell. "Sentret! Great!" Jessie laughed as the Pokemon rubbed itself lovingly against him. "Heh heh..." Nick grinned, glancing at the dented Pokeball.
He was planning on seeing what laid within, but Oak interrupted his thoughts. "Say, Nick, Jessie! Can you two fetch me a package from Viridian City? I really need it to continue my research." he asked the duo. The two new trainers looked at each other and blinked. "I dunno. Are you up to it, Jessie?" Nick asked the boy. He was four years younger than him; Nick was fourteen and Jessie was ten.
Fear ran through Jessie's body; he remembered the Pidgeys that had assaulted him earlier. "... Only if you come with me..." Jessie pleased to Nick. He really did not want to face them alone. "Sure!" Nick smiled at him. "Thank you for the Pokemon, Oak! I can't wait to see it!" Nick said, already started towards the door. Jessie was shocked to see his enthusiasm to head out.
Jessie and Sentret quickly followed through the door; Nick was already halfway through Pallet Town. He took a glance at the Pokeball with the mysterious dent, and the even more mysterious D. "Hmmm...." he was going to summon the Pokemon within; but a loud, obnoxious noise stopped him once more.
"Nick! Here! You're forgetting your things!" a female voice rang out. "Heh... Thanks, mom." he stopped as Jessie and Sentret finally caught up with him. "Here is your Pokedex, your Trainer Card, your Bag, and your Pokegear!" she said, handing Nick a bundle of items. "Once again... Thanks, mom..." he said, struggling to keep up with her.
"Don't forget your running shoes, honey!" she handed him a pair of nice, new shoes, which she forced him to equip A.S.A.P. "So I can't run without the-" he started; but his mother was already walking away. "What a mother I have." he sighed. "Beats my mom. She kicked me out as soon as I turned ten today." Jessie said, looking down at the Sentret at his feet.
"Don't worry about it, man... Come on." he said, trying to get Jessie to clear his mind. Nick wasn't very good at this kind of thing; he had trouble dealing with emotions. Jessie followed him, they took their first steps outside of Pallet Town and into Route 1....
