Well right now Ive beeen mastering counting time with eighth notes , eighth silences, perfecting these things and others with a metronome ( im also playing em of course)and stuff like that ( its kinda confusing at first) Thats on my Troy stetina lead book ( primer) right after the first song
As far as my other book, ( the one for acoustic, that I use for clean playing) My teacher is using open chord arangements and turning them into barre chord arrangements ( or having doing the changing), right now Im having trouble fretting barchords with an A shape...working on that
As far as songs well Im mostly improvising stuff, playing Sanitarium( well what I can play, trying to play the rest) by metallica, or the solo on Thank you for the venom by MCR, or just playing stuff I know for a couple of minutes
and sometimes I learn some new scales( btw Im also doing warm up exercises to increase speed, dexterity and finger independence.)

How about you guys?

I'm learning the rest of the solos in Megadeth's Wake Up Dead and Rage's Take The Power Back. Also working on some stuff I'm writing for my band.

I'm trying to get my drummer out of jail, trying to keep the rest of the band from overdosing or drinking itself to death, and in my spare time, I've been struggling to find a balance between layered distortion vs. definition in our song "Beast in a River of Sludge". I've been soaking up some blues musics, and I've brought that to the creative forefront on my new song "(Burpin' Up) Champagne Fumes", which the rest of the band hasn't heard yet. That, and trying to find time to practice, and stuff to record with, pretty much sums up my musical activities at this point.

Wow, you guys are doing way more than me.

I've been a little dormant with guitar lately, I still play alot, but need to learn some new songs and practise.

I always do lots of chromatic warm up exercises to get my fingers going, and try to build up some speed and dexterity.

I'd like to develop my fast palm muting riffs (like lots of rhythmic open E string palm mutes with clean notes inbetween). I'm kinda horrible at that.

And of course build up more speed!

As have I ... as have I. sweatdrop I'm still working on those sweep arpeggios and such, as well as exploring various chord patterns, both clean and crunched. Plus, I'm still attempting to write lyrics, as well, though I suspect that I should stick to guitar! xd
I also have a few originals that are works in progress:
Heart of Ice - a ballad
Storm of the Metallion - (( tentative title )) a thrashy kind of song, reminiscent of Metallica, circa Kill 'Em All.
To Valhalla ( Viking's Lore ) - another heavy song. the subject matter is self explanatory! xd

well smallish update, now that I finished counting and playing with eighth silences perfectly, ( as in my teacher aprooved it already, cause he's really picky), im going to finish the rhythym notation with the bends ( I can already bend, the challange here is to make the bends last or not in time,im learning how to stay in time with riffs)
my teacher also revealed that he wants to finish my acoustic book, so that means practicing a bunch of songs with barrechords, and perfecting the barrechords ( I have a problem with one of the strings)
other than that Im gonna start learning more and more scales, ima continue doing my chromatic exercises to gane speed and finger independence, and Ill see if I can the main part on Babe im gonna leave you by Led Zep.

Right now im working on the Solo from Audioslaves "Your time has come" I have figured out a good way to imitate the way Tom Morello makes that effect with tremolo Picking. but I still need to work on the notes...

I've been work in on my own material for the band which is a mix of Trash, prog, heavy, 80's and all that, jaming with my fellow guitarrist and that's pretty much it, playing some Metallica and Social Distortion every now and then. And coming up with nice acoustic riffs like for intros and power ballads.

I'm steadily working away at Lazy by deep purple. I have yet to master the main riff at full speed, and still have quite a ways to go to get the solo under my belt. If you've never heard the song you owe it to yourself to download it and listen to it, especially if your into classic rock.
