Njeve lifted his nose to the breeze. Things were beginning to get desperate within the pride. The winter had been harsh, and while the mountains had come to life with the beginning of spring, more than half the pride had not been there to see it. The thought brought a slight pain, one that was quickly pushed away as the lion turned to his duty. The pride needed new blood, or it would wane and die out before even spring could revive them. The little scent was fresh on the grasses, the cub could not be far.

The massive lion took in a deep breath, doing his best to prepare. There was little doubt that the cub had a family. There was little doubt that he had a mother, a father. Perhaps even siblings. ...Is this right? The thought was fleeting, pushed away as quickly as it could be. This was for the good of his pride, a greater good than he could have ever served. Njeve's ears flicked forward, blue eyes trained to follow the scent. He was close, and his Pride would be thankful.. His queen would be thankful. The lion's body turned lithe as he made his way through the long grasses. He would succeed, he would not let his pride down. He would not let his queen down.

Matlal had managed to escape his siblings and it was not easy. He was not very good a sneaking about, but he was getting better and better. He was headed for his favorite tree to do some tree jumping, although he'd been warned against several time. He really cared not. He was looking for adventure and most time he was not finding it. It just wasn't fair. His life was too quite, too boring.

He ran enjoying the pounding of his paws against the ground. He ran faster, to make his heart race. Oh how he loved the feeling, he wished he could feel it all the time. Adventure, he really wanted adventure.

He was coming upon his tree now, but he did not slow, he rushed onward. Onward to fun and adventure.

As warm and inviting as the plains were, Njeve couldn't help but miss the feel of snow under his paws. The delightful crunch, the cold tingle. The grass here was fine and well, but it certainly was not snow.

Ah. There it was.

Njeve breathed in deep as he saw the cub. Green like summer time, and seeming just as boisterous. He would make a good asset to the pride. He walked closer, no longer concealing his large form among the grasses. His step loosened, a relaxed smile taking his entire expression. Careful. Every little bit of it was careful, in such a manner that it was not to be seen. He could not scare the cub away. No, that wouldn't do. As much easier than it might have been, taking the cub by force might ruin him.. At least until he was old enough to forget about all of that... "Hey there," His voice was as warm as the sun on his back, careful not to be too close to the cub. "What're you doing all alone out here? Don't you know it's dangerous on your own?"

Matlal was running, running toward adventure when he was interrupted by a stranger. Hello the strange had said and it had startled his despite the males warm tone.

He quickly put on the brakes trying to halt himself, but he was not quick enough and he found himself with a face full of the strangers fur. Matlal flopped back feeling a bit dazed by his sudden collision.

"Hello", he said looking at the large male upside down. Matlal rolled over and sighed lightly, thinking the adult was not likely to bring any excitement into his life. His words most certainly seemed to be proof of that.

"I always go out on my own, he said frowning slightly, I am leaving today though. I want to find adventure, life here is boring. No excitement at all."

Njeve gave a slight, gentle laugh as the cub knocked into him. It was hardly enough to make the large lion budge, but he still found himself slightly surprised at the force. The child had good legs, if nothing else. He listened intently as the child spoke, hardly believing his luck. How could it be this easy? Was it possible to just stumble across a cub running off to find something new? Well, perhaps the cub wasn't the brightest of things, but he would be useful to his pride. "Leaving hm?" The lion purred, rather pleased with the luck that the gods had given him. "...Well, I think it is destiny that we meet." His head dropped to the cubs level, eyes alight as his tail twitched back and fourth with excitement. "You see, I am on my way to a very secret place, deep within the mountains," He let his words hang for a long moment, as if wondering over something. "..But I'm not sure if I should tell you... You might not be up to the journey... Winding underground tunnels, snow deeper than a leopard's jump is tall... Not to mention the dangers.. the bears and dark creatures that hide in the mountain caves..." Well, certainly that should be adventurous enough. He would be able to take the cub to the maintains easily..

...But what of his family? Where was this cub's mother? Where were his litter-mates, and father? The gray lion couldn't help the quick pass of apprehension and hesitation was hard to push away. This was for his pride. But what of the cub's family?

User ImageValetudo'Sero was going home. It had been a frustrating day of plant searching, she had found the herb she was looking for but it was dieing so she couldn't use it. Rather then waste more time and use energy using her goddess skills Val went home. Home wasn't really a place but family. Five cubs and De made up her family. De was the leopard, who one night after a day of cub like fun gave her the blessing of cubs. Val did not regret the birth of the cubs but what she regretted not being able to spend as much time with them as she wanted.

So now with time on her hands she finally got to do what she wanted to do, play with her cubs. Back at home, with her wings hidden to appear mortal, Val found four of her cubs and De. Wondering where her second son was Val asked De who said off somewhere. A bit worried, Val stuck around for a little bit playing with her other cubs but as time passed Val became more worried. Asking De to watch the cubs yet again she went off to find her son, Matlal.

Matlal grinned at the words secret place and with the words deep within the mountains. He was eager to listen now. It seemed this lion promised the adventure he sought. Matlal was thrilled.

His ear perked up as the male continued on describing the place and suddenly his words were falling on deaf ears because Matlal was already thread. He is vision swam and when it cleared he was flying on a large block of ice down what looked like a white hill. His heart pouned as he headed for what appeared to be a cliff. Suddenly he really was in the air...

Matlal blinked and he was back, though slightly dazed. A huged grin plastered itself across his face and he started to jump about excitedly. "I want to go. I want to go. Let's go now."

Matlal ran off in the direction the male had come from excited to begin his new journey. He looked back to the male, "Well, come on," she shouted before turning forward once more, "white stuff here I come."

Njeve let a low laugh escape his chest. Perhaps the cub was not especially bright, but he certainly was willing. "...Fine. But if you get lost on your own.." He let his words hang in the air, an ominous threat.... Though it was more out of the fact that the odd lion was hardly good with words. He did his job, and that was about it.. Certainly not as glorious as some might have made it out to be.

The large snow lion lifted his face to the breeze, nose following the air, trusting it to bring him home. You could always count on the air far more than you could count on others. No matter what you did, it was there. Others.. Perhaps not so much.

The lion kicked himself into a jaunt, black mane shaking with his steps. It was easy for him to fall back into the comfortable silence, though something told him that the cub wouldn't allow that long....

It seemed like hours before Val finally picked up the faint scent of Matlal but once she did she started the ground eating lope that was helped by her running on air a few inches off of the ground. She found a while ago that doing this prevented her from tripping on holes or stones and by staying within inches of the ground most mortals didn't notice the air between her paws and the dirt.

She was hoping that her son had just gotten distracted and didn't notice the time and that was why he was late but a small part of her feared that it was something much, much worse. When she caught two scents in the wind her fears were realized. Both were equally strong meaning they were fairly close together; one her son the other a strange male.

Throwing cation to the wind Val ran above the grass level and kept on rising until she was just above normal tree level. This provided her with a great view of everything in the distance and the height that her slightly larger then mortal frame could use. The glamor of a mortal lioness fell as she ran and in its stead stood a lioness with leafy, feathery wings and a very pissed expression.

If her son was harmed there would be hell to pay.
She thought as she crested a slight rise and spotted her small green bundle of fur and a much larger white and black lion in the distance. Her thoughts were so filled with anger, fear, and worry that she didn't even think of transporting right to her son's side.

Val wasn't aware that she started to growl deep in her chest as she continued to race upon the air.
