Each affiliate will have their set of ranks, if the rank you want is taken. Look and see if another affiliate has that particular slot open, if not go for the next best thing. When all slots are filled for every affiliate I will add one more organization into the mix.

Captain: The leader of the group, leads squads into missions. People wanting to take this slot will have to be mature and creative. I'll be having high expectations of these people.
Wing-man: The captain's right hand man. These people can be more or less skilled than the captains, however with the lack of leadership. Their job is to be on the front line protecting friendlies and mowing down the opposition.
Sniper: Those of tactical combat with long range capabilities. Often times they are on the outskirts taking shots. Being a sniper means being careful and precise. Firing off too many rounds could give away your position. Snipers have very low close range combat skill.
Heavy: Heavy mechs are some of the most useful of them all. They vary in all shapes and sizes. Some are made specifically for suppressive fire. Some made specifically for repairing. There are many heavy mechs made for the purpose of taking and bringing pilots and civilians to and from the front lines. These mechs are usually covered with very durable and heavy armor. Making them tough to bring down but slower.
Scout: A scout is not without its uses either. Scouts are well known for their sneaky recon types. Many suited with gear made for the sole purpose of being undetectable. Usually Light armored and quick on their feet, scouts are essential to any mission.
People under the captain and in the same squad are asked to fallow orders to a degree. That does not mean you must obey their every command. Personality and diversity are asked of you all. They are leaders for a reason.
