It was sweltering outside,it was that sticky, muggy, uncomfortable hot. The heat was keeping her from napping, and she really didn't want to do much of anything. Never in a thousand years did she ever think she would be forced to pant like a mangy mutt but there she was, laying in the protective shade of a large tree. Panting! It was so hot she just couldn't help herself anymore, even under the protection of the giant tree it still felt as though the sun was fiercely beating down on her. She glanced over at the pond that lay a few yards beyond the tree, it looked green and it probably was . She wrinkled her nose not at the water but at it's putrid color..but then again, it was sooooo hot. She rested her head down on her paws and stared at the water, mulling it over..she didn't mind swimming but she was a bit of a priss when it came to getting dirty.
"Fine, I give up" She grumbled, and dragged herself to the edge of the pond. She delicately tapped the surface with her right paw and watched the pond ripple with mild fascination. She backed up a few feet and ran towards the pond at a full speed, when she reached the edge she pushed off with her hind leg into a jump and dived into the water. Her head poked up after a few seconds, blissfully happy with the outcome, the pond immediately cooled her.

xxxx Owen xxxxA rather large Chartreux tom was sitting in the shade of a fence, waiting for the sun to dwindle down the amount of this small haven. He was pressed up against the barrier and laying on the cool grass, but as soon as the sun started to hit his paw he stood and figured it would only be another couple of minutes before he was in the sun completely. It was time to up and find a new sanctuary. However, just as the male was standing to leave he heard a rather loud SPLASH! His eyes widened and he glanced around, but the sound seemed to be coming from over the fence. Owen skillfully hopped up on top of the wall and instantly noticed the first body of water that came into sight. A greenish little pond with rippling water and more importantly a swimming cat. You didn't see that to often.
O had decided that she wasn't drowning so he took this moment to admire her amusement. He was hot too, and he wanted to desperately cool down, but he wasn't crazy enough to jump into a pool of water. Then again, he would try anything once, and besides that he would love to make a new friend. A grin spread across his face as he talked himself into these actions more and more and soon he was bolting off of the fence and leaping into the pond, cannon balling his way in, clothes and all. Of course, he wouldn't get nude in front of the female. She was far to young to 'play' with. He entered the water with a large splash and popped up from the waters surface with an instinctive gasp for air. "'Ello, there..." his british accent seeped through strongly, for he was far to excited to try and hide it. Hopefully the girl wasn't skittish.

Startled by the greeting she twirled around in the water to face the other cat. He was bigger than her that was for sure, but then again she was smaller than all the cats that she had met before. Aria giggled hysterically at the other cat, she couldn't believe he was in the water too! She had previously been under the impression that other cats hated the water, a happy mistake..she wasn't the only weirdo after all. "Hello" she greeted him, "You were hot too huh? I didn't know there were any other cats who could swim!" She had gotten so many baths as a house cat she had no other choice but to learn, her owners had thought it hilarious when she would jump into bath on hot days and bat at the knobs.
She swam closer to him and pushed her paws forward in an attempt to splash him. "I'm Aria, and you are?"

The girl was seemingly impressed by his outstanding courage. He was never one to turn down an opportunity to try something new and unusual. He figured you should at least try everything once in your life. So swimming was his accomplishment today. It was kind of difficult, because of his fur being like weights, but at least he was a short hair. He probably wouldn't have been able to stay afloat for this long if he had lots of fur on his tail and ears. "Heh, yep! I was cooking! Damn, you're a genius for thinking of jumping in this pond. It's so refreshing!" he called out to her and felt as though this girl was sort of like him in a few ways. Social, outgoing, charismatic.
Owen continued to paw at the water, doing a typical doggy paddle, or rather, kitty paddle while his eyes glanced over the girl. She was so young, younger than he had even first expected. "I-" he paused as some water found its way into his mouth and he spit it out before he could choke on it and tried again at starting his sentence, "I can't really swim, but I can float. Heh, you're obviously much better at this than I am-" he was splashed by a wave of water as Aria introduced herself to him. "Hehe, hey! Do you want me to drown?" he teased in his British accent and splashed her back playfully. "The names Owen. Nice to meet you Aria." He paddled his way pathetically closer to the edge of the pond so that his feet were skimming the mucky bottom so that he didn't have to paddle to stay up.

"I'm pretty sure genius isn't the right word, I used to swim in the bathtub at home! I figured a lake wouldn't be that much different..." She giggled and swam after him towards the shallow end. She was indeed a pretty good swimmer despite her longish coat working against her. She swam circles around her new acquaintance, He had piqued her interest with his friendliness and his odd accent. she wasn't familiar with the exotic sound of his voice but she liked it. "It is a lot dirtier though." Aria wrinkled her nose at the green algae and muck that she was now swimming in. "Sorry, I wouldn't have splashed you if I knew you couldn't swim..it looks like you're doing fine though you big baby"
Aria's legs were quickly getting tired, it had been a long time since he had any practice. She swam out of the pond and stretched out her tired legs, before sitting down and watching Owen. "Nice to meet you, do you hang out here often?" she looked around the small park, she had been here a couple times and never saw another cat before to her great disappointment.

Owen let his feet skim the bottom of the pond, feeling the nasty much cling to him, but he didn't mind much of it. In a strange way he almost enjoyed it the texture of how mushy it was. "Well, you know, most cats wouldn't have thought to jump in a pond, or any body of water for that matter." He gave her a toothy grin before lifting his hand and slicking his hair back out of his face. It wasn't spiked how he liked it anymore, but he could always fix it up later. Right now he was just thankful that the hot sun wasn't giving him such a hard time anymore.
When she mentioned how the water was filthier than her baths he laughed at how silly that sounded. "Well, yeah, but how often do you find a bathtub outside of human territory?" He cupped his hands and lifted some water over his head before sprinkling it down over him, loving how cold it was. "Mmm," he hummed as he listened to her talk about how she was apologizing for the splash. "Eh, it's fine. Heh, I just wasn't expecting it. A little splash never killed anybody." He looked down at himself and wondered how lucky he was to have been able to float. That would have sucked if he had sank like a rock. "Oh, I don't usually come around here. Usually I'm out partying in the city!" He gave a little high pitched 'OW!' for his hint that he was an exciting male. "Heh, but I take it you don't hang around the city much."
