User ImageThe old lioness was searching for her daughter. She had heard rumours of her daughter wanting to leave and as a mother, she didn't want that. She loved her children so much and to lose them, it would hurt her. She couldn't stop her daughter going if that was her wish but her fear of having kids would be that one day they would leave.

She hung her head low as she looked for her daughter. "Kib? Where are you dear?" She looked around hoping that she would just appear from somewhere. Would she even agree to going on the walk her mother had planned? She could hope, she wanted to have some mother daughter time and taking Kib where she had been and lived, well that wouldn't be a bad idea was it?

Kiburi had been lying amongst the grass watching a beetle scuttling across the ground, her slate-blue eyes - that were so similar to her mother's - blinked and then closed as she yawned.

She had almost dozed off when her mother's voice sounded from somewhere behind her and she stretched, raising herself onto her paws. Round ears drew forwards, head raising as she gave an answering mew. "Mama! Mama I'm here!" She would always be fond of her mother.

With a swish of her golden tufted tail she was moving forwards through the grass, her ears just visible above the wave of green.

"Where are you mama?" She questioned loudly, wishing she was just a little taller.

She spotted her daughter and trotted over to her. "There you are Kiburi!" She smiled and licked the head of her daughter. "I want to have a mother daughter, vacation with you!" She winked at her daughter and nudged her playfully.

She sat down and looked at her daughter. "Kiburi, I have heard rumours of you wanting ot leave us, so, before you do, I want to show you the other lands. I don't want my daughter leaving and getting lost and then maybe killed, ok?" She smiled and nuzzled against her daughter. She hoped that this would be ok, maybe she could convince her daughter to stay, maybe?

Kiburi's face was a picture of shock as she stared up into her mother's face. Her beautiful mother who had once been a rogue herself - she stood for everything that Kiburi wanted to become. The little lionness exhaled through her nostrils with a small huff and moved to rub herself against her mother's forepaws.

"Mama..." Her voice was a whisper, eyes glazing over with a sheen of tears. She really wanted to help? To teach her things to help her survive? To show her places?

"That would be okay." She gave the large lionness a small, shy smile...

Bakhti held back the tears that were fighting to show themselves, though she wouldn't allow it. Her daughter wasn't allowed to know how she was really feeling and that this was a really hard thing to do.

She forced a smile on her face and nodded at her daughter, "come on then lets get going. We will need to give you new hunting techniques as well the prey gets vicious in some places and if your not careful, you will be the one who ends up dead." She nudged her daughter and started to walk off, leaving the pridelands. How strange it was to leave her new home, Maybe she would become a rouge for a while with her daughter, either way, she wouldn't leave her for a while.

What was this feeling inside her? Apprehension? Excitement? She wasn't quite sure, but as she trotted alongside her mother she felt a tingling all over and her heart thumped against her chest like a beating drum.

She was finally free of the Pridelands!!! For a while at least and she turned back only one more time to catch a glance of it. It truly was a beautiful land but beauty wasn't everything.

"Hunting techniques!" This was it! She got to watch and learn from her mother, a pro hunter who she admired more than anyone. This was going to be great! "You're the best mama ever!" She chirped, bouncing lightly on her paws.

Bakhti looked down at her daughter, a smile on her face of happiness and love. She looked back at her home, she would miss Mahiri and Mchele but realistically, they would be safe in the prides lands. She then looked back to her daughter and smiled again, "Your choice of what we have for dinner!" She nuzzled the youngstershead as they walked. Kib was making by the sound of it, a little more noise then her mother but it was expected, she was younger.

She had the choice of what they would eat!? Kib's smile grew wider, everything was so exciting and finally she was beginning to feel grown up! Her adventure was just starting!

"How 'bout antelope?" She queried, gazing up at the golden lionness with wide slate-blue eyes.

She jumped sideways a little then trotted alongside her mother, it would be fun to learn to hunt and she wouldn't be a proper lionness until she could kill her own food either.

Bakhti smiled and nodded, first trip to the herd then.

She led her daughter towards a small herd as Kib was going to be doing the running, mainkly because Bakhti was feeling lazy but Kib didn't need to know that! She turned to her daughet and smiled, "Right then, you chose which one to kill. Sneek upto them, silently. Pick the one you want and bring it towards me. I will stay here hiding in the grass ok?" Oh how good it was being lazy and making her daughter feel special. Was all good fun!

Kiburi followed by her mother, mind fluttering with excitement, there were butterflies in her stomach but they weren't so bad that they couldn't go ignored. "Small one I think." Kiburi nodded, trying to think with her mind rather than her stomach. There was no point going for something that would just escape her claws.

She settled beside her mother in the grass, her youthful gaze scanning the herd. It was rather small and there were a couple of young antelope that might do.

She lowered her voice, "what 'bout one there?" She indicated a rather small beast standing on the edge of the herd, its head lowered in grazing.

Kiburi could barely contain her excitement as she crawled forwards through the grass a little bit, pausing only to hear her mother's answer.

Bakhti just smiled at her daughter, "you choose!" She then lowered her body in the ground, resting for now. She would tense up ready to pounce once her daughter reached the herd, no when one of the was heading in this direction.

With a small mewl of excitement rumbling in her throat little Kib was off, her small paws running rather quickly beneath her slender, pearly form. Her tail helped her balance as she ran, winding through the grass at her speedy pace.

To her dismay it appeared that the antelope weren't that afraid of her. The larger ones stood their ground to look at her as if she was stupid. It was the smaller ones that panicked however.

Four little ones broke away from the herd, throwing back their heads to exclaim their fear of the little lion in their midst. Heart regaining a little hope Kiburi gave chase to the one galloping past her right flank, body twisting to chase after it. It seemed to be heading in her mother's direction - which was good as all that running had tired her out.

Breath hot in her lungs her pace slowed to a halt, her legs almost trembling beneath her. She was tired, but she was also proud, and would be even more so if it meant she had aided her mother in a hunt!

In a matter of seconds as the youngster headed towards Bakhti, she pounced and killed it. The small ones died quicker then the others. She licked at her lips and then let out a loud roar to show the others that she wasn't worried about it, nor was she scared of worried for her daughter. She would need to learn to look more fierce before she would be allowed on her own.

"Come on Kib, eat up we got a long way to go!" She smiled as she ripped open the creature and ate a little herself. She was hoping that maybe Kib would change her mind about leaving if her mother did this with her, there were enough males at home and everything else, did she really need to leave? She hoped now.

Her mother's roar rang loudly in the lioness' ears and Kib trotted up to where Bakhti stood, sniffing tentatively at the kill. The smell of meat and blood left a metallic taste on her tongue, but it wasn't unpleasant.

The rest of the antelope - at seeing the larger lion - had shifted further away, keeping together as they moved so as not to be put into more danger.

Kiburi's breath was ragged in her lungs but after a moment's rest it was almost back to normal and as she tugged at the meat she felt a great pride within her that she had managed to aid her mother in its death.

"Somehow meat tastes better when you help work for it." Kib spoke, raising her head and blinking her great blue eyes. "Where we heading to first mama?"

Bakhti smiled at her daughter and laid down as she ate, "We will go where our feet take us." She smiled at her daughter wondering if taking her near the firekin borders at some point would put her off living away from her home and family. If Kib knew it or not, this was purely to try and get her to stay home.
