Hey, I was wonderin', what does everyone use for their writing?

Whether it be a fancy program on a computer, a cell-phone application , an Itouch, a palm-pilot, or plain old pen and paper. How do you get your writing done?

Personally, I mostly use pen and paper, or other portable things (My Itouch. Got it recently, and I love it biggrin No advertising intended)

But again, I'm curious, what do other people use? Am I missing out on something so amazing that I should curse myself for not knowing about it before? Tell me! 3nodding

I use my laptop and MS Word. Nothing fancy.

If I'm taking notes or something, then I'll use a pen and notebook, but I prefer typing for actual writing.

Microsoft Word has everything I need. Does the iTouch allow you to write on it?

Hand writing hurts after about 5 mins, and I have issues reading what I wrote a few months later, so I belong to those who love being able to type instead.

Also, editing is soo much easier on a computer than by hand, though the negative of that is that you need power to work.

I actually used my starting to write as an excuse to get a Asus eeepc (the 7" one) For me, it works well. The screen can be annoyingly small at times, but then, the final editing is usually done on a standard computer.

It's also taught me about backups, not so much because the laptop might die/get corrupted but because I have to transfer my work onto my main computer for editing, so usually there's about 3 copies of any given work floating around.

The iphone would be ok to use for taking notes, but from experience, the screen is too small and the keypad drives me up the wall after 5 mins, so prefer to carry additional equipment around with me rather than just the phone.

As for software, any text editor will do the trick.

I flip-flop between computers and notebooks. If I start something in one medium, I will continue it in that medium.

I use the Internet for research and a dictionary, and my built-in thesaurus on Word or Open Office, depending on the computer I use. I also have a few writing books that I keep on hand, and I store all my digital files on my two computers, my hard drive, and if it fits, my little jump drive.

11linda: I would love one of those! Do you have any idea what they are called or what company sells them? Because I talk out a lot of scenes, but sometimes have a hard time writing it down.

I use Word or similar when I'm writing. I don't really keep anything else around, but I do have notebooks for my ideas when I'm away from my computer.

Yea, it gives a good writing thing-a-mah-jigger. Main reason I like it is because I also have the Dictionary.com/thesaurus.com app. So it's a grand mobile writing experience to me. And whenever I need, I just e-mail it straight to my e-mail and paste it into Word biggrin I like it a lot, personally.

A bit out of my price range for now, but something I would definitely try to invest in in the future. Thank you. ^^
