About the Contest
The purpose of the contest is for members to submit screenshots of eye-catching Captcha word pairs, from which mad libs (like those valentines we were sending each other) will be submitted for member vote, the winner of which walks away with a progressive jackpot.
How it Works
Captcha Submissions (20 entries)
Any member who feels like it may submit as many screenshots of Captcha word pairs as she sees fit to.
With each submission a random number between 1 - 100 must be submitted with the screenshot — any post without the random number generated will not be counted as a valid entry.
This will last until a minimum of twenty entries are submitted.
Captcha Selection #1 (3 days)
I will use the random number generator to determine ten Captcha word pairs to select as semi-finalists, as well as use another random means to select five members to vote for one of the ten semifinalists to advance as a finalist.
In the event that three finalists aren't selected by the time due I will randomly select however many of them I may need to.
Captcha Selection #2 (3 days)
The three finalist Captcha word pairs will be posted in a voting thread for all guild members to vote on their favorite, which will be used in the actual contest.
The Actual Contest #1 (3 days)
Once the finalist is selected the contest will be open. All members will be allowed to submit up to three ten- to fifteen-word sentences that incorporate both Captcha words in the pair.
The sentences must make logical sense, at least in terms of grammar and context of the words being used; be creative, even nonsensical, but your English still has to be English.
Any sentences that are less than nine words long or are more than fifteen words long will not be counted as eligible entries, but in such a case the member will be notified and given a chance to correct his entry.
This thread will be locked to prevent cheating; all submissions must be PMed to me in order to be posted.
Each entry submitted will cost 1000 gold. This is to make the jackpot suitably attractive to encourage participation.
The Actual Contest #2 (3 days)
After the five days is up I will use a random number generator to select three finalists to be determined by member vote. The winner walks off with the entire jackpot and is announced to the guild for some ego-fluffing.
In the event a tie-breaker is needed an extra day for voting will be announced, and if after that there is still a tie I will select the winner by random.
