With his basket at his side, the newly found father tried to keep a slow pace for his darling basket to keep up with. The dark stallion had the urge to go exploring, and decided to leave the basket’s siblings to their mother for a little while, and found it oddly curious that this basket wanted to travel along with him. Maybe it wanted to explore the world, and it made the dark stallion proud that the basket shared a similar trait with him in that sense. Other than that, he sensed no other similarities between him and this basket. Maybe the possible chance that his teal translated into the basket’s rimming, but teal and green were awfully close, and it could have inherited that from its mother.

Today he decided he wanted to explore the regions near the foot the mountains because he felt a bit homesick, ever since he came down from his home in the cool mountains to the north of this region. To get to the mountains within the Soquili lands, he knew he had to go through the woods. With the approaching darkness in the sky and the sun now setting overhead, he grew worried for the safety of the basket, and all that could happen in the woods during the night. Maybe it was a bad idea to have his baby travel with him.

The stallion inhaled deeply, trying to calm himself. He assured himself everything will be fine, and his basket would have fun. At least, that's what he would want in his mind. The dark stallion started to walk closer and closer to his basket, almost hovering over it. He did not want to lose it, or something to come up and snatch it up.

(OOC: XD omg sorry -- I nearly died laughing at the mental image of the basket bouncing up and down beside him or wiggling like an inchworm to keep up, and keep trying to write a post only to start laughing again because its just such a hilarious mental image.)

Tulgey, watched in silent curiousity as the two moved their way through the outskirts of his territory, raising an eyebrow at the basket. It looked so familiar...

However, all the baskets he had encountered in the past, including his own, where never so openly mobile. However, one very similar to it seemed to go off on its own when it was swept away in the rain of the river, so perhaps..

He slunk closer, eyes glimmering as he grinned in the fading light, before chuckling in the shadows, moving his face out of the shadows as he did so, "Curiouser and Curiouser. Usually the baskets I've seen move were being carted and carried in some manor, dragged on branches and strapped with vines to ones back. Is it often this one follows you so eagerly without an obvious lead?"

( ... She's an energetic basket? xD )

Khajag continued onwards, unaware that he was being watched. His kept his attention mostly on his basket, making sure he was not walking too fast for the basket, or long enough that it wouldn't get tired out too quickly. He sensed that he would need to take a break soon, especially all the energy the basket was exerting by scooting forward to move in its basket.

All of a sudden, the dark stallion stopped when he heard chuckling. His eyes widened in fear in reaction to the laughter. His eyes tried to adjust to the surrounding shadows, and there was not enough light to see what was in the shadows. As the figure emerged, he stared at it in utter confusion. The stallion was slightly taken back in awe of the stallion before him. It was probably the worse time to get stuck in his thoughts, but he couldn't get over how handsome the stallion in front of him was -- before he felt a nudge at his leg. His baby had ran into his leg accidently.

Quickly, the stallion tried to recall what the other stallion had said, and quickly answered, "I have.. quite the active basket." He bumbled, feeling a bit scattered-brain after first being scared out of his wit, then being dumb-founded.

(XD Apparently. I swear, this is the first time I've ever seen anyone RP their baskets like that lol.)

"The foal inside must be very strong of will and body to be able to follow you despite being limited, for their own safety, to the confines of the bindings." Tulgey chuckled, shaking his mane as he spoke in his usual sing-song tones, slipping back into the shadows to circle the two, slinking with a touch of swayback, making him look more feline in behavior as he stepped carefully on the jutting roots of the trees, "...."

The stallion shook his head again, chuckling as he slinked in closer to Khajag, "So what brings you and your... Energetic... Basket here?"

(I suppose. >w>; I've seen some rp their baskets in-thread like so. )

Khajag smiled, looking down to his basket fondly. "Y-yes. I would like to believe that about the little one within the basket." He said softly, before returning his gaze to the stallion before him. His teal eyes watched the stallion carefully, noticing the smooth movements of the stallion before him.

As the darker stallion continued to observe the stallion, he couldn't help but feel a little enthralled. His attention piqued when the stallion came closer to him and nervously smiled. "I w-wanted to go see the mountains. I come from a mountainous region to the north of these lands and I've become a little homesick." He said a tad nervously, glancing shyly between the stallion and his offspring. He quietly noticed the basket inching closer and closer the stallion, emitting a soft purr from within the wicker basket. He looked quite surprised at the basket, not because it was the first time he had heard it, but because he still did not understand why the basket purred in such a feline way. At least, it reminded him of a purr from his encounters of the feline-breed.

"The mountains.." Tulgey seemed to almost purred back as he spoke those words, peering closer at the basket near his hooves, his head low to snuffle at the wicker, trying to scent the child inside, "Hmn..."

The colors were similar... As was the scent. Was it..?

"..Who is their mother..?" The green haired Stallion put a leg over the basket protectively, peering at Khajag somewhat suspiciously, though there was still a hint of a smile on his lips -- Perhaps he had found... It had to be, "...Acta?"

Khajag nodded in his confirmation of the place. "Y-yes... The mountains. They were much similar to the one you inhabit." He said, before looking a tad confused with the purring. He turned his head left and right to try and understand where it was coming from. If it was a predator, he needed to know so he could protect his basket. It wasn't coming from his basket this time around, so it had to be dangerous right? He could not stand over the basket without infringing on the other stallion's personal space, and decided he was close enough to protect it, if it was needed. He noticed the other stallion's gaze upon the basket, and looked slightly curious to what he was doing.

The stallion noticed a soft purr coming out of his basket this time around to the other stallion's sniffing. The basket even dared jump a bit up to initiate contact with the other stallion. It then stilled, and stayed planted to the ground.

His attention was ripped away from the basket, and back to the other stallion. "The mother..?" The stallion asked a bit slowly. Hearing part of the mother's name, he nodded his head. "Y-yes. Acta est Fabula was the mother of the baskets. She's back with the other two baskets, resting." He said softly. "D-do you know her?" He asked, kind of seeing a resemblance between Acta and the current stallion before him.

Tulgey's eyes met Khajag's with a sharp glint, his smile widening into a grin, "... Acta was the name I gave the daughter in memory of her mothers own naming conventions. I lost her to a rainstorm, swept into the river.. She was still in her basket, but I placed her there when her mother abandoned them and spoke their names to them often..."

he tipped his head downwards, putting a hoof protectively around the basket, eyes meeting Khajag's, ears backed slightly, "... Or did you steal her? You seem awfully young for that to have been the case, but one cannot always judge by appearances you see..."

Khajag looked at the stallion in slight confusion. The glint in the other stallion's eyes had him wary for a moment. "W-was it?" He asked, ears flicking back at the thought of looking his baby in a rainstorm. He was glad that today was pretty clear, and did not offer any chance that the basket could get washed away. "I'm sorry to hear you lost her." He said softly. "She is healthy from what I know. Unstable, but healthy." He said softly, wondering if bringing children into the world with such an unstable mother was the best thing. Acta was happy, from what he knew with the children, but he noticed she was not happy with herself.

His brows furrowed together, watching as the stallion put a hoof around the basket. The basket nestled closer into the striped stallion, taking comfort in his presence and aroma. He smelled much like his mother, and that made the basket happy.

"N-no! Never. I would never steal a basket. I'm not desperate for children that I would just take them away from their parents." His eyes was clouded in confusion and shock that he was accused of such a crime. "Awfully young? I assure you, I know what I was getting into when we decided to have children..." He said softly, even thought he knew it was not out of love.

Acta was absolutely beautiful, and yet, his feelings just stopped there. His feelings, sadly enough, were more towards the friendly and helpful. He wanted to see her get better, and provided her with her wish of children. He loved children and adored them. He was shocked when he found out she was pregnant, and couldn't grasp the thought of being a father. That's what all first-time fathers felt. At least, that's what he assumed. He didn't have a father-figure to understand whether or not that was normal, but it made sense...

The stallions ears remained backed for a few heartbeats before he chuckled, "Pity the mother's unstable. Must of gotten a bump on the noggin on her way down the water fall.." His smile stretched, eyes twinkling slightly, "One has to ask, since her mother... Wasn't quite sane herself -- tried to kill them before they left the body, and I had to steal them away once born to make sure she didn't kill them then.. I was simply wondering if perhaps things were the same here.."

Smile stretching into a toothy grin, which showed his hidden canines -- no nearly the fangs that dangle from mouths like many toothed soquili, but enough that he looked like somewhere in the past he may have had Kalona or some sort of mutant in his background, "That perhaps the safety of one madman was preferable to the madness of the mother. Paternal instinct isn't as strong as maternal in all stallions, but it does happen."

Khajag agreed with the stallion, wishing the best for her. "D-do you think that was it?" He looked a bit lost to the stallion. The stallion then visible winced again. "So her mother wasn't very sane herself?" His eyes widened in shock. "Oh.. Wow. That's tough. Has their mother ever sought them out?" He wondered, not sure if he has to look out for this mare in case she might be a danger to his three foals.

The darker stallion observed the stallion in front of him. The toothy grin shocked him, and wondered if his own foals would have such a toothy grin. What exactly was this stallion? He definitely had an 'other worldly' presence about him. He tensed hearing his words. What exactly did he mean by that? "I suppose, otherwise we would not grow attached to our foals."

(FFFFFF I thought I had responded to this D8 Sorry!)

"She didn't make an effort to gain them back." Tulgey snorted slightly, eyes tightening slightly, "Though I did spend a long time searching for the one I lost..."

He bowed his head, eying the basket once more, "Good to know they're being cared for... Pity though... Every instinct in my body tells you to chase you away from my child, however I smell you in the wicker -- it is yours... So frustrating..." His grin went wider, eyes getting a wilder edge to them, "But if I see my madness, am I really mad?"
PostPosted: Mon Jun 13, 2011 12:30 am

Khajag listened to the stallion, and frowned a little bit. The reaction of Acta's mother was a reaction his own mother would not take, but would follow the same actions as the same stallion before him. He had to wonder if mares had to be born with a "parental" trait, or would that have to be something a parent would have to teach a child when they were young. Realizing he was getting lost in his thoughts again, the stallion focused back on the stripped stallion before him. "It's a good thing to hear that you cared enough to seek them out." He offered him a soft smile. He would hope that losing a foal would never be an option to him, and there would be small room for error when it came to his children.

The stallion followed the other stallion's gaze to his basket. He smiled fondly down to it, and listening to the stallion. His ears perked up at the word "pity" and drew his attention away from his basket to Tulgey instead. "W-why would you chase me away?" His brows furrowed together, not understanding. Had he done something wrong? Was there any doubt in his paternity to the child? "I d-don't know." He answered honestly. "I d-don't personally think so." He said in a softer tone, not wanting to offend his basket's grandfather.
