History: Kytara was born the middle child of a large family. As such she had little to no attention from her parents. An uncle, on her mother’s side, took her under his wing and taught her all he knew as far as life in general. He tried to instill in her the importance of watching the world around her at all times, so that nothing that could be important was missed. At a very young age Kytara became fascinated with dragons and fire lizards. Every day she would slip away to watch the dragon riders as they cared for their partners.
When Kytara was 8 her family packed up and left because of her father's family's traditionalist veiws. This sparked a huge fight between her father and her uncle, who demanded that they leave her in his care. Her mother, not wanting to stay and fight any longer agreed to leaving her behind. After that she slowly stopped speaking freely, feeling that she had done something wrong to make them not want her anymore. Her Uncle did his best to raise her right, but she never opened up to others like she did around him. Instead she started to filter her observations into very detailed accounts of day to day life in the Weyr.
She eventually attracted the attention of the Harpers, brought to their attention by her very detailed observations and keen memory during classes. She often argues with other Harper apprentices about small details they forget. During the most recent Search, many were surprised that she was Searched, and many more were simply surprised to find that she still existed.
Kytara has adapted to weyr life fairly well, though her dreams were shattered at realizing that weyr life wasn't all glitz and glamor. Still she enjoys it nonetheless. She was upset to find that she had much less time to write and she has had trouble adapting to having to interact much more than she is comfortable with.
Description: Kytara is a small girl, standing only 5’1” at her fullest height. She has a small to medium build, with little or no muscles to show. Her skin is lightly tanned from years of living in the Weyr, with small soft freckles brushed like a raccoons mask around her eyes and across her nose. Her hair, once a vibrant gold, has lightened into a pale straw color with almost no pigment. It brushes her shoulders and is usually held back in a small clip at the base of her neck if not left loose. Her eyes are a lively pale blue framed by long black lashes.
Personality: Her personality, like her physical stature, is small and soft. She is very quiet, often to the point of being withdrawn. She very seldom speaks, preferring to observe instead. Though she is generally quiet if someone can become close enough to her to convince her that they have no intention of abandoning or hurting her, she opens up and shows a very different side.
Once she opens up to someone she has shown to have an excellent sense of humor and an attractive smile. She is very opinionated and loves to share those opinions with those she holds closely. Even then she is not very talkative, only speaking when she feels it is worth the breath it takes to say something.
Kytara's quiet demeanor makes her easy to push around. She can seem almost desperate to prove that she'd do anything to make a person like her. It all loops back to her feeling like she caused her parents to leave and abandon her. She feels as if everyone she meets will eventually do the same. She's very envious of groups of friends. So much so that she will find any way possible to avoid and hate them. Even if she knows nothing about them.
She has a keen interest in writing, something that –combined with her preference to observe rather than speak- drew the Harper’s attentions to her.
Other: Kytara has an amazing talent for remembering the small details that most others miss. She is also very argumentative over these details.
