Ugh. Homework.
It wasn't something to look forwards to, and the fact that she'd scheduled two hours in her diary to complete the research paper made it even less appealing. The fact that it was History, her least favourite subject, didn't make it any better, although she could choose the era she wished to write on. That had been an easy choice - the Tudor period, full of drama and betrayl, was definitely one of the less dull parts of history.
Having dragged herself down to the library, Selena settled her bag on one chair, pulling out a pad of lined paper and a pen, placing them down to claim herself a desk. Making sure her phone was on vibrate - a loud song sounding throughout a library wouldn't be well received - Selena tucked her chair in, venturing down an aisle in search of books on the subject. She found a sign, taking a few moments to study it before it sent her off a couple of aisles down. Another few minutes searching and she found the History section, getting her finger out as she began to scan the shelves, looking for books that would help.
She found two, pulling them out and placing them on the floor as she searched for one more to take back to the desk with her. And she found it...on the top shelf. Straining to reach it, Selena's finger grazed the spine, and she gave a short, irritated growl as she grasped fruitlessly at air. Oh, this was just ridiculous!

Azzo had been in the library for his science project, which he'd rather not do. So he was just browsing aisles when he passed by a girl having trouble getting a book. He paused looking at what she was trying to grab at.
He paused and noted a foot stool not to far and slid it over to her with his foot. "This might help" He said, 'cause from where she was grabbing he couldn't tell which book she wanted. Not to mention she wasn't but maybe an inch short of him. Since when did they make book shelves so tall?
He looked at it, last time he'd... remember... being in a library was out in the country and their bookshelves were much shorter.

Hearing a voice behind her, Selena lowered herself back onto her heels, glancing to her side. Spotting a vaguely familiar face, she noticed the stool he was offering, responding with a grateful smile, standing back and shuffling the stool the rest of the way over before standing up on it, able to reach the book with ease. Removing it from the shelf, she stood back down, adding it to the pile before picking all three up, flashing another smile at the boy.
"Thanks," she offered, thought she didn't turn and leave, instead watching him with a strange expression, "I...know you from somewhere. You're one of the newer transfers at Meadowview, right?"

Azzo nodded when she thanked him. "I guess you could say that..."
The way it sounded, it wasn't quite a happy yup and I'm glad to be going there sound. It was more of a 'yeah I suppose so.' He looked at the history section before glancing back at her. "So what're you working on?" He was keen to change the subject away from any questions of why he was a new transfer student.

Oh, he didn't sound all that eager. Trying to juggle and balance her books in one hand so she could offer to shake his hand with the other, she soon gave up, instead just flashing a sweet smile over the top of the pile, "I'm Selena," she offered, trying to be friendly. It was always nice to meet new people, especially those who you'd seen before but didn't actually know.
"Ugh, History paper," she replied, sounding less than enthusiastic, "Tudors, which I suppose is something good. I just don't like history very much."

His eagerness had went out the window when they mentioned he might not actually graduate. So he was hoping maybe they'd let him transfer to SH after this year was over with.
He chuckled suddenly, "Ah History, I like it better than Science at least. Makes more sense and all that." He watched her juggling the books, "Do you need help with those?" He asked curiously.
Seeming like he was probably going to follow her back to her seat and watch her actually do her homework. Though he'd trade the history paper for the science paper any day.

He liked history? Selena wrinkled her nose a little to make it clear that she really didn't - science all the way! Whilst Chemistry was, yes, really quite dull, Physics was fascinating - all the forces acting on the world, making things work as they did...she loved it. "I quite like science," she smiled, blinking as he offered to help her with her books. "I'm alright, thanks."
She smiled again, not sure what to do now. Should she...initiate more conversation, just turn and leave? "Uh, so why don't you like science?"
Might as well stick to the topic they were on.

Azzo nodded, "Alright."
He was glancing around, "Why? Heh I accidentally mixed some things wrong. Caused a little mess at my old school."
He was looking around casually, "They decided to move me to an easier science, but it's all about as hard for some reason. I'm just not good at it really."
He stretched, "Though I suppose it could be worse, Astronomy isn't as bad though. I was going to try to take that instead of this one, but they seemed unsure if it counted as a credit or not."

Not wanting to leave her bag and valuables alone for too long, Selena took a few steps in the direction she'd left them, hoping Azzo would take the hint and follow her. "I'm...sorry, I don't think I caught your name?" she asked, suddenly aware he hadn't told her. She'd told him hers, but there'd been no name offered in response. Selena liked putting names to faces, or at least for as long as she'd remember them. Damn her terrible memory.
She raised an eyebrow, unable to hide her grin at the mention of failed chemistry experiments, "Yeah, I'm not great at Chemistry. I enjoy Physics a lot, though." He really struggled with science, huh? Oh, but not Astronomy. "Astronomy's been one of those things thats always sounded cool, and I've meant to try, but just...never gotten around to it," Selena spoke, offering a warm smile, "What do you find so difficult about science? Maybe I can help?"

Azzo blinked, he suddenly flushed, "OH I'm sorry!" he said perhaps a bit louder than he should've. Looking around after biting his lower lip realizing he'd been a bit loud. "Sorry, My name's Azzo. Nice to meet you."
He paused and started to follow her, "I don't really know what's my trouble with it is. I just seem to struggle with all of it for whatever reason." He shrugged softly. "I think I'll squeak by, it's just frustrating when you keep getting nearly failing grades."

Selena winced a little at the volume of his voice, also glancing around cautiously, afraid they might get into trouble for talking loudly in a library. Luckily, no-one seemed to be around, so she looked back at him with another charming smile. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Azzo."
He was following, so she lead the way, turning a few corners before reaching her desk, placing the books down with a small grunt, glad to be rid of the weight. "At least you pass, though? That's better than nothing, right? That's all I'm aiming for in History, trust me."

Azzo chuckled nervously. "Yeah. I didn't mean to forget that." He was still following her pausing for a second at an aisle grabbing a book.
He was looking at it, it was one of those that were put to been seen as the books of the month or whatever it was that they did with end caps.
"Yup, hopefully." He said with a grin, "Eh, History's just a bunch of things that repeated sometimes. It seems like they don't learn from what's happened in the past."

Selena smiled still, glancing curiously at the book he'd grabbed - when had he picked that up? - but not mentioning it. She satherself down at the desk, indicating the seat at the one beside her, inviting him to sit with her, feeling it might be rude not to.
"It's all in the past, all dead - I don't understand why learning it will help me in my life in any way," she sighed, shaking her head as she took the first book from the top of her pile - the one she'd been struggling to reach - opening the cover and using her finger to scan the contents page.

Azzo sat down beside her thumbing softly through the book. "Why?" He said in a curious manner.
It seemed like a weird question to him, but he shrugged, "I figured you learn it so you don't make the same mistakes."
He paused on a page, the whole book seemed to be on endangered species. "If you make the same mistakes what's the use of actually having a history? I mean they don't teach things they really should in those classes anyways."
He paused in his ranting to actually read a certain a paragraph before looking back at her. "Look at all the figure heads in the past and what they've done. Some of them have torture that they've put others through. If we don't learn about that, what's to say in another hundred years it won't happen again?"

Why? She looked up from the book over to Azzo, frowning. Why what? Oh, why she hated history and everything? She shrugged a little, beginning to chew on the end of her pen, not entirely sure how to explain it. "I suppose. It makes sense, in the way that you don't repeat the same mistakes. But the stuff they teach, about old kings and stuff...how's that gonna benefit me?"
She shrugged, figuring she'd throw in her opinion. "I like science in the way that everything has an answer and is down to things that you can explain, like chemical reactions. You don't know what those people were thinking, so writing essays on them and making assumptions...I dunno, it just doesn't seem right."
