Right, so this is an RP I've done a few times. The results have always been entertaining, vivid, and interesting.

Behold a few random pictures from Google!

(There used to be a picture of a creepy hallway here, so pretend it's still there. Kthx!)

General Info:

Rules:

>This is a semi-literate RP. I will not be strict in this rule. Basically, do not do your posts in leet. Simple enough. =D

>No godmodding, please. This is simply the more irritating thing you can do in an RP. If you are confused as to what godmodding is, I will give an example for this RP.
"Well, my character is a ghost with fire powers, so she can float to the top floor and beat everyone else and set zombies on fire and not be afraid of anything because she's a ghost with fire powers!!"

>You may not control another person's character without their permission, and you may not place an obstacle deliberately to kill another person's character.

>This RP is in story font, and not chatspeak. You don't have to be a novelist, simply type in general story format including important or useful details. Try to omit anything that it too long and unnecessary.

Setting:

This RP takes place in a hotel, of course.
After winning a random sweepstakes where the prize is staying in a five star hotel, a creepy man, appearing seemingly out of nowhere, takes the characters to said hotel.

How haunted is it?

The pictures shown above are misleading in that the level of hauntedness isn't "Oh, it looks normal, but there are a few spirits." The level of hauntedness more resembles a torture chamber than a hotel, but with less blood and gore (unless you would like that sort of thing).

Objective:

Upon entering (which you do have to do), the front door is sealed tight. The only way out of the hotel is up, and the elevator is broken. I don't think I would trust the elevator if it worked, anyway. Just what is to be done when all of the stairs are ascended is yet to be seen. No one has ever made it that far XDD! Well, they have, but then they didn't make it through the last floor. Maybe there are parachutes.

Progression:

Each floor runs by a particular pattern. One cannot simply run up all of the stairs and pass the floors with a little huff and puff. There are errands to be run. The first objective upon reaching a floor is to explore rather carefully and usually without moving, as there are usually traps at nearly every step. Search for cards that contain clues leading to a key which opens the door to the next stairwell. The clues can be as confusing, objective, or obvious as you want them to be. You can make a riddle or a simple statement as long as it's not so easy as, "They key is under the bathroom mat. Have a nice day!"

Another lovely feature I am fond of that cannot be overlooked is the Adams Family-like hand. In front of every progressing door is an old-fashioned mailbox. When you approach it, a severed hand pops out and demands (rather impatiently) for the clues you obtained on the floor. It will not let you pass unless you hand over all of the clues on the floor, making it impossible to progress by simply finding the keys by dumb luck. Some floors have more than one key while some keys have more than one clue.

How to create a floor:

Upon creating the floors, attempt to be imaginative and give attention to detail. A hallway such as one shown above probably couldn't be simply walked down and that be the end of it. Include a few traps, mines, and possibly a cereal killer with a missing eye. The first person to post upon reaching a new floor is the one who designs the basic structure. If you've got no ideas, wait to post. If you have a really good idea you're dying to use on the next floor, alert us in parentheses chat. Floors are not subject to basic hotel structure. There have been cement mazes, glass rooms, and giant kitchens, so go crazy! As for the details of the room, everyone makes those up as they go along. Add any fun details you would like. Once there was a portrait of Mona Lisa with a beating heart in her mouth where every time it pumped, a comical squirt of blood came out. It was quite hilarious.

Is There a Time Limit?

Seeing as how progressing to the next floor means embarking on a new horror you may not survive, it is easy to wonder if there is a specific time limit in which you must be finished, forcing you to progress. The answer is: nope! Realistically, one may not want to progress in such a case, but consider that you are in a dangerous place with no food or water. Sure, you can stay put and not put up with the next room. After all, I'm sure the room you're on is quite inviting. Dark, a few bloodstains, a zombie writhing and screaming in the corner . . . might as well call it home. =D

How to Join:

Before you Post:

There is no form to fill out, and the details are rather simple.
PM me with any character info you would like to go in the following post. The PM is mostly to alert me that there will be another person popping in. The info does not need to include more than your character's first name, but more info is preferred. You may have as much or as little information posted as you like.

Character Number Limitation:

First, you may want to consider how you are going to RP. If you plan on killing off a character or two of yours, you may want to start with more than one so you can continue to RP. It is suggested that you start with two or three. No person can have more than four characters out at a time.

How to Join:

To join before the general party has entered the hotel, simply post an introductory post (or a post giving general information of appearance, personality, etc about your character) and travel with the group until you enter the hotel. Then you can do whatever you want.

To join after the general party has entered the hotel, add them into wherever the group is. If you are adding one character, in your introductory post, you should include some sort of excerpt about how they have been trapped inside the hotel for however much time until they were found. This is editable, as you may include anything that makes logical sense, which means not, "Hi, I was born out of the air just now! So, what's up?"
If you are adding more than one character, you may want to imply in your introductory post that they have been working their way through the hotel as well, and the general party has caught up with them. Again, this is editable. Simply do what makes relative logical sense.

Character Abilities:

Your characters can have as many special abilities and super powers as they want within reason. As stated before, no godmodding, so they cannot have superpowers that will give them an unfair advantage. For example: Hovering is fine. Flying to avoid all dangers, not so much. Flying is alright only if they are still faces with obstacles and they are not constantly in the celing. They cannot be able to simply blast away any obstacle or chainsaw massacre maniac they come across. If a character of yours has a special ability, attempt to mention how it doesn't give them too much of an advantage. An example would be: My character can shoot laser beams out of his eyelids, but only if he holds a lantern out the window.
As far as weapons go, please leave them at home. You wouldn't bring a gun or a scythe to a normal hotel. Also, a weapon like a sword or shotgun can too easily be used to even up the odds.

Pictures:

>If you want to have a picture, it doesn't have to be pretty or fancy. It can be a stick figure with brown hair XDD! If you're using characters that you normally use, there's no reason not to just slap an old pic in here, unless you really super want a pretty one.
>Reasonable picture sizes, please. That is all. I did have specific dimentions up, but it was messy, so I dropped it. Just put up a picture size you like that isn't huuuuge. The picture size can easily be changed on photobucket. Select the large size, and that'll take care of the dimensions.

Progress:

>RP has not yet begun
PostPosted: Mon Mar 22, 2010 6:44 am

Over the brown brink of trees, the sun had begun to set ever so slightly. A small bonfire tore hungrily into half-rotted wood. The fire moaned and vomited smoke. Couta, perched beside it on a small log, fed it small pieces of moist wood, only adding to the fire's complaint. Tori's thin figure scampered out to greet him and lay on his shoulder. Biting into the flesh of his lower lip, he attempted to escape by inching away. Persistant, she followed. Before it became a game of chase, Couta gave up and sat on the wet grass, letting her play with his ears.
