Kay was alone in the shop. Switch had decided to take a day off, Roxy and Gera were out on errands for their Auntie...well, there went any chance of fun today! Sighing, the young shaman leaned back in Switch's chair, his bare feet (complete with mostly healed pavement skids on the bottoms!) upon the desk, ankles crossed.
Mrrh the shrunken head was held between his dark hands, taking a break from being juggled with a regular tennis ball. Poor Mrrh always ended up as Kay's toy when he got bored...and today was no exception, apparently. All Kay could do was wait in hopes of someone or something of interest to happen to the shop.

Tas'prin had the day off and didn't know what to do. Spring Break made the campus feel so empty, with all of the students gone to the beaches to party and forget everything they'd learned so far this semester. The half-dragon had spent the early part of the morning trying to grade papers, but the inspiration had left him. He had all week, so Tas had figured a nice little stroll off campus might help.
The weather was still a bit chilly for spring, something the half-dragon was not fond of. With just a loincloth for cover, Tas soon found himself studying the nearby shops. He'd pop into one... just long enough to warm up a bit. But he'd look rather out of place at some of these... Oh look! A secondhand shop. Those always had neat items.
Tas ducked through the doorway, his wings folded in close to his body. As he glanced about, he started to have second thoughts about picking this store. It was rather cluttered and his tail was prone to knocking things over. He'd just... avoid anything that appeared breakable.

Kay was in the middle of yawning when the door opened. His yawn interrupted and his mouth still opened, he leaned backwards to try and get a good look at the visitor...and he leaned back just too far, his chair tipping backwards to send him to the ground. He landed with a rather noisy clatter and a loud 'oof', practically rolling heels over head to right himself again. Standing quickly, he dusted himself off, grinning like nothing had happened.
"Hi! Welcome to Balcombe, I'm Kay, and whoa aren't you a little cold?" The young Shaman's head tilted, noting the...lack of clothing. Maybe the scales helped, or maybe the wings could be a cape like on those TV shows? Either way, this (probably) guy was cool!

Tas glanced around at the clattering sound, noticing a small boy pop up from on in the shop. Carefully, the half-dragon made his way closer, taking in the youngster's odd appearance. "Heh... a little," he admitted, grinning sheepishly. Olivia had attempted in the past to make clothing to fit around his wings and tail, but Tas felt like a clown in them and she'd given up, swearing that she would never nurse him through any colds he got as a result.
"You running this place on your own?" Heck, for all Tas knew, Kay could be older than him! (Which.... was very much not likely, but who knew.) Tas wasn't used to children and was a bit unsure what to say to Kay. The kid probably didn't want to hear about the battle of Troy or anything else in history.

Kay grinned at the fun looking Dragon man. The Preteen was more than happy to look over the interesting scales, those awesome wings and that curious face of his. He'd only seen something like him in pictures! Nahual didn't seem intimidated by the larger reptile. In fact, the feathered serpent focused it's gaze on the bigger creature, hissing with every ounce of the 'Small Dog Syndrome' it possessed.
As always, Kay ignored the nasty little thing.
"Mmmmyeah...but no." He pondered over how to answer the question...it was kind of a tricky one! "My Na owns the place...but she wanted a day off soooo today I'm runnin' it by myself!" Which, of course, answered both yes and no. Shrugging, the young Shaman had more urgent matters to attend to. "You're a dragon right? Do you breathe fire or anything? How old are you? I hear Dragons live a looong time!" It'd been a very long time since he'd come across anything this interesting, and before he knew it he was reverting back to his more easily excitable self.

Tas blinked at the sound of hissing. It wasn't the boy... oh wait, it was. In a way. Tas'prin eyed the boy's head snake curiously, though the inspection was interrupted by Kay's string of questions, which caused the half-dragon to chuckle.
"Technically, I'm a half-dragon. And, yes, I can breathe fire, though not nearly as well as a real dragon." The next question made Tas pause and think. "You know... I don't really know anymore. After a while, you stop counting birthdays. Somewhere around... 140, I'd say. True dragons live even longer..." The half-dragon scratched at his face for a moment, his tail flicking about without his notice. Swish, went the tail, smacking into one poor little shrunken head and sending it skipping across the floor.

Wow, this guy was getting more and more interesting! He was more than tempted to get the guy breathing fire...but they were inside a building, and he didn't think Switch would like it if it burned down. No matter how cool fire breathing was.
"Wow, that's old! I'm...You know, I dunno how old I am, either." But it certainly wasn't over 140! The boy paused when he heard a little smack and something rolling, peering around to find Mrrh rolling away. "Ah! Runaway shrunken head!" The Shaman laughed, hopping over the desk and making his way over to retrieve the poor head. "Poor Mrrh, always getting hit around." Though it was mostly his fault...but he conveniently overlooked that! There was a little glimmer of bone in one of the piles, that caught his attention.
"Ooooh...what's this?" Mrrh set aside, Kay dug through the pile, freeing...some sort of dragon skull? Huh! Turning, he held it out to the Half-Dragon man. "Neat, eh?"

Tas chuckled at the rather excited boy. Suddenly the kid was off after a... runaway shrunken head? WHAT? Odd~ Tas'prin glared down at his tail, which played innocent to everything, of course! As something caught Kay's attention and he tried to dig it out, Tas wandered closer to see what it was.
He blinked as the boy pulled out what appeared to be a dragon skull. "Very interesting..." The half-dragon reached out for it. "May I?" When Kay consented, he took the thing in his hands, turning it over. "This... looks rather real. If it's a fake, it's certainly a good one!" Tas idly turned the skull over and over in his hands, rather reluctant to put it down now. It was just so neat and fascinating and... why didn't he want to let go of it?

"Sure!" The young man chuckled, handing over the skull. Of course, the moment the Dragon man touched it, he felt that attachment spark. The same thing that happened when an item wanted that particular person as it's Guardian. Blinking away his surprise, Kay just grinned like nothing was the matter.
"It might be real!" He shrugged, shoving his hands into his pant pockets. With a hum he wandered back to the desk, completely forgetting about Mrrh, and pulled out a giant tome, ruffling through the pages. "I kinda think it belongs to you, ya know?" He said innocently, snapping the book shut after finding the record of this particular helm. "Don't have a record of it, sooo you musta brought it in with you, right?" It looked odd considering he only had one eye, but Kay winked and hoped the dragon man would get it.

The half-dragon pondered over the skull, not really noticing Kay give up on the head hunt to go back to the desk. So when the boy mentioned something about it being his and that he must've come in with it, Tas blinked. "No, I didn't." ... Well, honesty was usually the best policy, right? "You found it right over there." He pointed with one hand, the other holding the skull. Oh, Tas. Sometimes you're a little too thick.
He started back towards the desk, confused on what this boy was going on about. The kid had found the skull, so why did he think Tas had brought it in? Confusion!! "I'll pay you for it." He started to turn the skull over in his hands again, looking for a price on the thing. "Uh... how much?"

Kay stared at the Dragon man. As cool as he was...he was kinda lackin something upstairs, wasn't he? Laughing and smacking his own face with the palm of his hand, the young Shaman shook his head no, waving a hand. "No, no! I mean, I don't have a record of the item, so you can just take it! For Free! Just, no returns or exchanges!" He was trying really hard to give this item for free, but the awesome looking old dragon thing wasn't making it easy on him!
"Okay? M'not lettin ya pay for it!" He said stubbornly.

Tas was confused. Why was this boy trying to give away such a cool thing for free? He couldn't do that! The kid was only in charge for the day. What would his mother say when she came back and realized he'd given away free stuff?? The half-dragon reached into the little pouch around his neck that carried a key and some money.
"And I'm not going to take it without paying," he stubbornly insisted right back at the kid. Oh boy.

The man's stubborn insistance made Kay grin. "Then you'll be here for a while, Mister!" He warned happily, moving away to hop up onto the desk to sit on it, folding his legs infront of him. He was leaning back on his hands, and clearly not going to willingly accept any currency he'd be given.
"If it'll make ya feel better, I can call Na and make sure it's okay with her." He offered innocently, drumming his fingers on the oak desktop.

Tas frowned at the boy's reply, ready to talk the kid's leg off if that was what would be required to get the kid to take his money. However, Kay's next statement threw the half-dragon for a loop. "Er, uh, sure. I guess." This was odd. The kid seemed rather convinced that calling his mother wouldn't change the situation. What kind of shop were they running here?

"Mmkay! One moment." Grinning, he leaned over and put the phone on speaker, dialing a number and letting it ring. Soon enough a sleepy female voice answered.
"Hello? Kay?"
"Hi, Na! There's a real neat-lookin customer here and he's interested in this Dragon Skull thinger, but I can't find it in the inventory book. I can just give it to him for free, right?" Kay inquired in nearly one breath, glancing back at the fun Dragon man. He figured Switch would have known what he was saying, and why he was offering it for free.
"Hm?" Switch started as though trying to figure out what the energetic young man had prattled off. "Ah, go for it. Wouldn't know what to charge for it anyway." She said over the speaker phone, her voice seeming to be in the stages of waking up.
"Thanks, Na!" Kay hummed out, keeping his Na on the line while looking over at the man. "S'at good enough?"
