A lush green grassy plain stretched as far as the eye could see. There were no trees to cast dark shadows on the plain to create a comforting shade from the brightly shining morning sun high in the eastern part of the sky. A slight breeze blew through the plain, cooling down those that cross its vast beauty or those who go out of their way to see the secrets that the green land holds.
In this lush land, ancient secrets of a herd of Soquili hid, there are many myths about the existence of this herd, but no one really knows what happened to them. They were there one day, but gone the other, and it was going to be Wystan’s job to find the clues of the past to help the Soquili of the future figure out what happened all those years ago.
Wystan stood at the marginal part of the plain, contemplating where to begin his search for clues; there was a great amount of land to cover and he would only be able to do the search with the light of day. He let out a snort and began his search.

Upon that lushy green plain the sun reflected upon the bright gold coat of Aine sending gold beams reflecting off and sometimes bright rainbows if the light hit in just the right spot. Clear blue eyes shone brightly as she wadded through the grasses. The run was the most beautiful thing in the sky yet none was more beautiful than she on the earth.
A small lake hidden by the grasses caused Aine to pause to stare at her reflection upon the lakes surface she was absolutely beautiful today as usual, her curls daintily danced with the gentle breeze that blew.
I wonder what will happen today... she smiled to herself.

He had not searched the vast plain for long when he discovered a small clue; a painted rock, no bigger than the bottom of his hoof, with the sign the ancient Soquili. The great detective Soquili would not have missed it, since he almost tripped over it during his intense search of the lush green land. Wystan looked up from the rock and noticed a flash of gold in the distance, it was not like the gold that he had on his wings, but a shinier color. He quickly made note of his surroundings and the location of where the stone was placed to the other land marks around the plain.
Quietly he walked toward the golden flash, his hooves barely making a sound on the earth. The golden reflections lead him to a pool of water in the grassy field, where on the opposite side of the pool was a golden mare staring at her reflection in the still clear waters.

Blue eyes darted form her reflection to that of a stallion standing across from her. she had been to busy in her own self vanity to even hear him approach. A whinny of surprise left the mare's mouth as she took a few steps back. How dare he sneak up on her!
But she'd forgive him since he was handsome after all, quite by the looks of it. Though he was of course not as beautiful as she. no that would be just impossible of course.
"My apologies you startled me." she said simply.

He had startled her; the Angeni did not mean to do that, but since the mare was absorbed in her own reflection it was hard for him not to make her startled. The scene that was laid out before him reminded him of a story his mother used to tell him and his brother before they went to bed at night; it was about a stallion named Narcissus, who upon gazing upon his reflection in a pool of water fell instantly in love, he soon died because of the misery he had inside of him. Wystan always cast that story away as that a story, since nothing in that tale could possibly be true, but now, looking upon the mare in front of him, he was noticing that there might be some truth behind it.
“I did not mean to startle you; it has been a habit of mine to walk quietly since foalhood.”

"I see," she said quietly her own reflection forgotten for the moment. Though as her gaze shifted toward the stalion's eyes he looked as though he was crying. Though strangely his tears didn't drip.
"What brings you out here to the endless plains?" she asked, "Wings like that should be used often" if she had wings.. she would use them. It was one of the things she envied about other soquili. Their wings.

From the ways her eyes lingered on the area near Wystan’s eyes, he knew that she had noticed the blood red colored tear line. Ever since he was a foal he had the appearance of the blood under his eye, and as he grew, so did the blood stain; it now runs from the bottom of his blue eye down to his jaw.
“I’m searching for clues to help solve an ancient mystery and it would be easier to search the land on hooves than by wings.” He did not use his wings as often as many of his type, since he was always observing on the ground, but in some cases he would enjoy getting the bird’s eye perspective on the lay of the land. It was always freeing when he felt the wind beneath his wings.
“I am curious about the reason why are you out here on the sea of green?”

"But why would an Angeni be more interested in the earth than the sky?" Oh Aine truly wished she could fly with beautiful wings. how much more beautiful would she be then with golden wings that the suns rays reflected off?
Either way Aine gave a nod "It is true yet from the sky you could get a larger picture and perhaps find something you've missed" she suggested. Maybe there was something larger that could only be seen from the sky, if he always stayed on the ground. Despite her narrow mindedness upon her narcissistic personality regarding her beauty she was actually quite intelligent.
"I want stand underneath a rainbow, and the plains are the best for that I've been told." she smirked, she loved rainbows, they were beautiful.

How many times had he thought over that very question? “It is not that I am not interested in the sky, I love the feeling of freedom that it brings me, but I also pride myself with being a great detective and many clues are small that they are hard to notice even when on the ground; I would have problems finding small clues while flying high in the sky.” The feeling of the wing in his wings and the sun on his back were feelings that he always enjoyed feeling while in the sky, but solving mysteries was more important than having the freedom of the sky. Plus his love for detective work came first, before anything else.
“That is true, I will do that after I have finished the ground work,” he smiled at her in thanks, but her next words confused him, “stand under a rainbow? Is that even possible?” He had only seen two rainbows in his life, and they were always magnificent sights, but he did not know much about them, except that they were caused by the light refraction off of water drops in the sky.

Aine nodded, pride was an important thing indeed, she had pride, for how she looked especially. But his argument was valid and she agreed "That makes sense then." she said simply.
"I don't think so but Either way I'd like to try." It was doubtful it was possible, she knew that Rainbows were actually only caused from the light filtering through droplets of water in the sky making it impossible for them to touch the ground. But it would still be a fun to try given the chance.
"if you want maybe I could help." she offered, if not she'd leave the handsome stallion to his clue findings.

Again she reminded him of a story his mother had told him long ago about a stallion who was chasing a rainbow and how it represented a bridge between the relationship of father and son. There was more interesting parts to the story, and Wystan had retained it all, just like he did with all his mother’s stories, but he thought it best not to bring it up at that moment.
Wystan smiled at the mare, “That would be of a lot of help. Two eyes are better than one. And it seems that you might know the lay of the land better than me.” He looked around the sea of green grass, “Have you ever heard of the Ancients that used to live in these parts?”
Suddenly he paused his thought process, here he was talking to the mare and he never asked her for her name, he felt a small pang of foolishness at forgetting his manners, “I am sorry ma’am, but I have seemed to have forgotten my manners, my name is Wystan. Lady, might I inquire what your name is?”

"My mother used to tell me stories about the old soquili who lived here." Aine had listened quite intently for a time until she grew tired of them. Though she had cast them off as nothing more than fairytails for the longest time. "Though their probably not the same Ancient Soquili you're looking for..."
"It's alright." she said before giving a bow "The pleasure is all mine handsome Sir, I am Aine."

"Would you mind telling them to me? Every clue helps in solving the mystery," he smiled at her. She may not believe that the stories she had heard back then were of no importance, but the great detective believed that everything was of great importance; soquili just took what they knew for granted.
“That is a very lovely name, it is very nice to meet you Aine,” He bowed his head to her, “what does your name mean?” It was a standard question that he asked all the Soquili that he met, for the answers always revealed more about the Soquili than they realized.
