Lovely LucyalCurio Name: Koyana
Curio: Yemaya's pearl (
ref)
Guardian: Tairi Ryond
Item Stage: Not. :/
Starting Stage: Kid
Gender: Female
Hair: Long, black, and curly. (
ref) She, unlike the pic however, has a choppy full blunt bang. She has a few streaks at the top and a few big peekaboo highlights at the bottom, both in this color (
ref)- aka a darker bluish silver fading out to white at the tips.
Eyes: Very large. Long, thick eyelashes. Kind of fishlike when it comes down to the main part. She still has whites, but her colored part to her pupil look more similar to
ref than normal human eyes. Except instead of the gold in that picture, it would be a deep emerald green.
Skin: A dark tan. (Think Indian- not like native american, but from India.)
Clothing Style: She likes comfy clothes that make her feel free. She usually wears baggy shirts that droop past her shoulders and long flowy skirts. Her skirts all end right above the ankle. She wears a silver charm anklet on her left ankle that has starfish charms on it. She also likes to wear strands of spaced out pearls and long silver necklaces. She likes blues, greens, whites, and purples. She especially likes teals. She also loves hearts and peace signs. I was thinking maybe a baggy, off the shoulders shirt that is a bluish off white. It has tie dye peace sign (large) covering the front using the colors (
ref). Her skirt would be similar in appearance to the bottom of this dress (
ref). It would end right above her ankles. She either wears flip flops or goes barefoot. She hates shoes. She loves wearing bangles and charm bracelets (silver). She will also sometimes wear jewelry on her tailfin. Around her head she always has a headband (using the same colors as the tie dye ref and in the style of
the top headband here but replacing the feather with a tiny fish charm) wrapped in a "hippy" sort of style. (The style is more like the lower headband in the ref.)
Personality: Ahh, a free spirit~! Koyana is the kind of girl who is what she is and doesn't care what anyone (mom included) has to say about it. She wears what she wants and she does what she wants, and foo to you if you don't agree. That being said, she isn't a mean sort of girl. She actually tends to be very very friendly (almost too much so if she takes a liking to you). She falls in "love" (not meant romantically here) with people very quickly, and considers every friend a best friend. She has no secrets, and never regrets anything. She's the kind of girl that will stand on top of your car in public, dancing and singing her heart out no matter how badly she looks or sounds. She is on a constant quest for happiness, and if you give her the chance she will take you by the hand and pull you along with her. She's a happy, loving, roller coaster type personality. She is always honest, and never hides her emotions. She is very emotional- when she's up she's up, and when she's down she's down. She will laugh like a chipmunk or cry her eyes out infront of a crowd. She is, over all, very loving and affectionate towards everyone and violence frightens her. With her, every day is an adventure and every stranger is a potential friend. She loves the outdoors, and adores animals (especially the aquatic kind.) She also loves water, and if you let her she'd spend every moment swimming.
Special Traits: She has scaley feet and hands, which fade out to her normal skin right before the elbows and knees. They are
ref in color. She also has small patches of these scales on each side of her neck, where she has small gills. She also has small side-fins coming out of the sides of her forearms where the scales are. She has normal human legs, but at her rear she additionally has a fish tail (
ref). In this same color, she has kind of "fin" shapes ears.. They kind of look like wings or fish fins.. The best ref I can find it
the one to the right, and that would be for just basic shape. Her's would be much longer and larger, and in the color of her tailfin. Her lips are also the same color as the scales on her hands and feet. She has speckles of her scale color across her cheeks (lightly) as well. Lastly, she has a pearl (about the size of a small, clenched fist) embedded in her chest between her collar bones (
actual pearl) (
concept ref)
Powers: Can communicate with aquatic creatures, but converses easiest with fish. She also has control over water. She can swim naturally, and can breathe under water.
Prompt: #1:
You're waiting for your coffee at the cafe and there's a fish tank with a gold fish nearby. While you're waiting your mind wanders, but (INSERT KID HERE) seems much more alert...and that gold fish is mighty entertaining. What does the kid do when faced with something so fascinating?
Prompt Response:"Sugar! Na na na na.."
Tai flicked an ear in her cheery child's direction, temporarily loosening her grip on the little girl's hand. Ugh, more singing. Her big gray eyes wandered the area, trying to find anything to focus on besides the tan little thing belting out notes like she was being mauled. Koy, however, didn't seem to take much notice to her mother's distress. Her tail fin was joyously lashing back and forth, and her steps had now morphed into hoppy skips. It was a cloudy, rainy sort of day and it resulted in a very overjoyed little girl. She loved when the humidity hung like this in the air, and it made her especially delighted when the cold water fell down and ran over her scales. "Ohhhh honey, honey~!"
Tai sighed quietly to herself, and that caught her kid's attention now. Koy's large, multicolored gaze fixed on her mama's face. "Mam, what's wrong?" She tugged at her mother's arm in a concerned, yet demanding, fashion. She had to know what was wrong with her beloved mother! "Want me to sing and make you feel better?"
The older woman suddenly tightened her grip on her daughter's hand- "Ahh, not now lovely. How about after mama gets her morning coffee into her, hmm?" She had to admit she had quite the headache from her lack of caffeine, and she was having trouble tolerating her little one's antics the way she usually did. Her darling little thing was reluctant, but she hauled her into the cafe anyways. A pout instantly crossed her dark colored lips. Koy didn't want to be inside when it was such a pretty day outside.. This was no fair. No fair at all. Sometimes grown ups could be so not fun. She didn't say anything now, however, instead watching the older creatures wander around like zombies. Then, they would receive those nasty, bitter drinks and suddenly they would perk up like they would if they accidentally shocked themselves with the electrical outlet. What a weird phenomenon. Adults were such strange creatures.
Her mother released her hand and approached the counter to order, and she traipsed over to the nearest stool and climbed up onto it. Chairs were a no-no for her- her tail would get in the way. Even though stools were a little too big for her (she was a rather short girl, after all, let alone still a kid), she always chose them over those chairs with the holes in the back. They were soo much cooler. Moments later, Koy found herself intensely bored. She was twiddling with her bangles, staring at her parent with a very open pout. Waiting was so BO-RING!
Tai didn't seem to notice her child's discomfort. She stood with her arms crossed, weight shifted to her right hip, staring patiently towards the counter. How could she just stand there like that? Koy began to idly search the room for SOMETHING to keep her entertained...
And then she saw it. FISHY~!
It took only a moment for the little girl to dramatically jump from her stool and rush to the fish bowl. It was a little golden fishy! How ADORABLE~! She puffed out her cheeks and pushed her lips against the glass of the fish tank, making faces at her new bestest friend. The little thing was instantly terrified by this new giant beast, and fled into its ship in fear. Aww... What was wrong with fishy. Koy's ears drooped and her lower lip trembled. Why was he hiding from her?
She trodded over to an open-backed chair and dragged it back to where the tank was. She sat her rump down on the seat and rested her chin on the table, staring wistfully at the tank.
Hello? Don't be scared... The little creature edged out from its hiding spot, staring up at the child in wonder.
Hi.. My name is Koyana. What's your name, Fishy? And thus began the friendship of Koy and fishy. She sat and conversed with the cute little thing happily, her legs wagging back and forth underneath the chair. See, now this was super fun! She always loved meeting new friends.
And now, Tai would learn what a bad idea it was to drag her child into this place. The young woman picked up her coffee, sipping lightly at the lid. Mmm. Now that's more like it. She turned to find her child, and called out to her cheerily, "Come on Koya, time to go!"
No response.
Tai frowned. "Koya!... Koyana!" She saw the little girl, and she knew that she could hear her... Yet there she sat, totally unresponsive. Tai huffed irritably and headed over to her little one. "Koy! It's time to go!" Now the child looked up at her, face filled with a glowy sort of innocent joy. "Mam! I made a new friend!" Tai's eyes darted between the fish and the little girl, and then her hand took hold of Koy's. "That's nice, lovely. But it's time to go home. Time to say bye bye." The girl yanked away instantly, "I don't want to!" She insisted, brow furrowing as she turned stubbornly back to the tank. Tai was surprised. Koy was usually a rather well behaved child... But every now and then she did have her stubborn streaks. This just seemed like an odd reason for one. "Lovely, mama has her coffee. It's time to go home now."
But oh, Koy was back to ignoring her. The woman let out a slow sigh, and then scooped the little one into her arms. The girl instantly cried out in dismay, "NOO~!" She fussed a little bit, but as they began to walk out the door she waved dismally at the fish tank. "Bye bye, Al.."
She was unusually quiet on the way home, which Tai found both unnerving and a little relieving. After a few minutes, the little girl snuggled into her mother's neck, expression surprisingly heartbroken. "I liked Al, mam." Tai nodded, "It's good to make new friends, my love, but you can't play with them all the time. Sometimes you have to say bye bye."
Koy took on a thoughtful look, and then peered up into her mama's eyes, "Mam, can I get a friend for at home like Al? A pretty gold fishy?" The older woman gave her a look, "Would you take care of it? Because you know I won't. If it's you fish, it's your fish." Koy nodded adamantly. "Yes! Of course! I would take the bestest care ever of my friend."
Her mother smiled warily. "Alright then.. I will THINK about it."
Her daughter was so overjoyed she began to sing one of her "most favoritest" songs at the top of her lungs.
Oy vay.
Yet Tai kept smiling.
