Any thread invites are greatly appreciated

I'm doing research into glow times and I'm looking for volunteers to help me by
stalking my 3 tanks. Basically what I'm trying to find out is:
->Do the tanks follow a glow pattern?
->What rules do the tanks obey for glow times?
->What changes to glow times occur on a regular basis?
->Does the length between glow times vary depending on the time of day?
->and anything else that the data prompts me to ask

All you have to do is stalk these 3 tanks and if they glow bump the appropriate thread with the analyzer summary made by Absol- Ruler of Chaos. I need 24 hour surveillance on these tanks and I'm hoping that people, even if they're not on for long check the glow when they log on and before they log off, to help with the surveillance.

This will continue until I get all the data I need to work with.

A reward may be offered at the end of the research to thank those who helped out and stuck with it through the data gathering.

Then once the data has been processed, I will share my findings with all here in the aquarium forum

The discussion thread is for discussing just about anything so I reckon this qualifies. smile

If you get some good data I would like to know so please share it with us.

Some things I have been told (not verified by me).
Tanks glow 8 to 12 times per day.
Number of glows varies from one day to the next.

There is another thing you can do to log glow times. Most folks have their glow reply link in their signature and many post it in their posts when posting in a booty grab thread. Change the link to a quoted reply. "Solnya is glowing" or "Solnya's mule is glowing" like that. That is one way to separate out glow times for a shared glow thread. It does not require users to install scripts or even type. They just click on your glow reply. Then later you go through the glow thread and write down the times for a particular tank.

The reason this method is not working so well for me is I learned it too late. I have tried quoted replies on a couple of my tanks but they are posted so many places where they are not quoted (my link is in the posts) that the majority of my glow bumps are still not quoted. The other day I gathered data and realized it is still full of holes.

For anyone reading this who does NOT put glow links in your posts - you can just change the glow link in your sig and then of course it changes everywhere people see your tank.

That would work but only if my tanks were high exposure, which they aren't at the moment... Hence why I'm recruiting people to help me. I've already found out that there are specific differences for glow times during a day.

I got the glow times from a friends thread which has higher exposure for mine, and followed it for just under a week. I found that during the day the glow times, although they didn't follow a specific pattern that I could make out, they always had a specific glow time and certain gaps would be more frequent at different times of the day (For example the 3hr22min, 2hr39min and 2hr08min gaps are more common during my day time then at my night time)

Oh and you'll also notice that the signatures on my mules lead to reply links in "I glow" threads separate from the joint one I have in my posts, I am planing on doing this with all my accounts so that there will be four recycled I glow threads in total.

It appears that when the clocks on Gaia's servers tick over to Sunday the tanks get given new wait times between glows...

Thanks. When you get enough data please post the patterns. We can't change them but it's nice to know what they are. It helps people get an idea of potential production when considering fish purchases. I am well versed on what a dolphin tank can do simply by observation of daily tank gold over a long period of time. I know the average I am getting per dolphin but I do not know how many times per day I am glowing (or how many total players).

I'll let you decide the exact wordings but just something along the lines of:
"I'm researching glow times of tanks and need assistance with catching the glows. You don't need to be online for a great length of time, if you're just on for an hour a day and while you're on you occasionally check through the analyzer for the tanks it would be much help.

If you want to help, or would like more information please visit my journal entry detailing the research.

Some of the people I talk to in the Aquarium forums have also noticed the wait between glows going from ~2 hours to ~4 hours.

I'm not sure. I have been told the glow patterns are not the same every day. I stopped tracking my daily tank gold because it was so predictable. Perhaps I should start again. A daily average on six tanks tells the story real quick regardless of the glow times. If tanks are really waiting twice as long between glows it will be readily visible in the bottom line.

It SEEMS like my gold is going up by about the same amounts as it has been but I'm going to start tracking it again.

I'm still interested in numbers / patterns being seen by those tracking actual glow times.

Well until April they appeared to be following a set of glow times that changed when the gaia servers clicked over to Sunday each week.

There were also about 9+ glow times each day...
