-- formerly Iden, now I ' E N ♥ Name I'en (formerly Iden) Age 16 Gender Male Orientation Bisexual; mostly because he doesn't too much care -- given his druthers, he'd probably pick a woman, but he's adventurous enough that he might not, just for the hell of it. He definitely wouldn't worry about it either way when it came to a Flight. Craft Harper // Dragonrider to green Salth Rank Ex-apprentice // Jr. Weyrling
Appearance If he weren't so tall and so clearly male, the first adjective to come to mind when one looks at I'en would be pretty. Instead, with a halo of red curls, satirically arched brows over dark grey-blue eyes, and a slightly crooked version of his father's heartbreaker-smile, he resembles the near-perfect combination of his mother and father. Standing close to an athletically-built 5' 11" with puppyishly large hands and feet he hasn't quite grown into yet, I'en very rarely looks, as they say, 'put together'. Despite himself, he often looks as if he's just barely skidded in by the skin of his teeth, even when he's clean, well-groomed, and has made an effort to dress well. His gestures are large and theatrical, and he very much talks with his hands. If you tied them behind his back he'd be at a loss.
I'en tends to favor sturdy clothes, mostly because he needs them. If he can get sturdy and bright, well then! All the better. Still he's given up mostly on 'dressing up' too much because it just doesn't sit right.
Personality Deeply adventurous, Iden will do almost anything for a good story. Talkative and warm and gregarious, he also tends to pull others into his adventures as well, wanting to share experiences with people where he can. A natural-born leader, he speaks out if he feels the need -- but when he's put in his place, he doesn't seem terribly upset. He'll just make sure he gets everything possible out of the situation, even if that means bending and stretching the rules until nigh-on their breaking point. His greatest fear is that his life is going to be boring, but with his attitude and the risks he's willing to take, that's highly unlikely. Odds are he'll wind up covered in scars someday, but he'll have a story for every single one (and if he doesn't, he'll make one up)!
As per that, the truth is something Iden doesn't feel the need to stick to entirely -- he won't lie outright very often, but he'll twist that truth any which way but loose in the process of coming up with a good tale. He's got a natural flair for the dramatic, and will regale anyone who'll listen. Perhaps it would be considered a flaw of his that he does not often tend to simply shut up unless specifically instructed to.
When combined with his decidedly fluid idea of the truth, that means he's not very reliable if you're coming to him for honest information. A wise person would take what Iden says with a grain (or a heap) of salt, and get a second opinion. Otherwise they might find themselves in trouble, and drag him along with them -- since he just doesn't know when to quit, it seems. Even when he's gotten called out for it, he'll push it to the point of no return before admitting he's lied to begin with, which would probably make the penalty worse on him than if he'd just told the truth in the first place. Usually he doesn't mean harm by it, but all's fair when it comes to the best stories, right? He'll take credit where it's not due and your credit too, if you're not careful. He'd rather apologize later than ask you for permission now to steal your spotlight -- and it's lost him a few friends despite his best efforts. Iden just can't tone it (and himself in general) down, no matter how hard he's tried.
Even though he's a risk-taker and often in trouble, he's not a stupid boy. Iden is very intelligent, but he's not overly skilled at planning out the minutiae of his day-to-day life. He'd just much rather get himself into scrapes than stay safe in his penned-up box. Safety isn't conducive to discovering great things, after all, is it?

-- what came B E F O R E ♥ History Somewhat typically (in a manner of speaking), Iden was born to a blonde, blue-eyed holder woman and the local Harper, a fun-loving man with bright red curls, grey eyes and a grin that made her swoon. The relationship between Iden's parents was an on-again-off-again thing, about which his mother took a lot of criticism, especially after her son's birth. Despite that, both mother and father played a strong role in Iden's childhood, and Iden grew up sturdy and fun-loving. He enjoyed telling tales and performing, a strong urge in him that his father cultivated since youth, and both mother and father agreed to send him to the Harper Hall for apprenticeship.
It was on a visit home from the Hall, when Iden was fifteen Turns of age or thereabouts, when a dragon and his rider had come to Search -- and Iden, fearless as ever, ambled out to visit the dragon in all the hubbub. It was a lucky thing that the personable blue seemed more than willing to subject himself to a thorough walk-around examination by the curious apprentice while his rider was off Searching for suitable candidates, while one was busily apprising himself of what exactly a dragon was like up close and personally. (No doubt, he also chattered to the dragon out loud, not expecting a response.)
Iden was fussed thoroughly when he was discovered, and later hauled in front of the rider to apologize for being nosy and disrespectful. This, though he would say he has no idea how, resulted in him being picked to go back with him as a Candidate -- and it rather surprised him. If asked, Iden would probably come up with a far more epic tale, but he's still rather proud of it.
For quite a few sevendays, Iden learned the fine art of ducking and dodging his Candidate duties (and making quite a few friends along the way). He became well acquainted with the Weyr, and with several of the people there, most importantly (to him) a little Candidate girl named Millet, whom he terms his "pretty girl". With her, he discovered two flit eggs -- and received his first flit, green Fern. Shortly after, Iden won another flit egg off of a traveler from Telgar, which hatched quite rapidly into bronze Pips.
It did not seem long before the his first Hatching finally came. Iden, not expecting to Impress his first time out, simply settled in to watch the spectacle and get a feel for things. After being bumped by the first hatchling, brown Brath (who Impressed to Zacharai), Iden looked up to see a pretty green wandering about among the boys. As he had with that blue, he greeted her -- not even aloud -- and was more than stunned to hear his lifemate's voice in his head, greeting him in return as she simply settled at his feet and informed him under no uncertain terms that she was in fact Salth, and quite amused. And that, as they say, is that.

Curled Leaf Egg – Green Salth to Iden Right in the middle of the clutch, the Curled Leaf Egg sits just slightly to one side, almost as though cocking one leg and resting. Touching this egg gives a feeling of quiet indifference, as though the dragonet inside isn't willing to pass judgement on those touching it so soon. Compared with some of its clutchmates, the egg is rather mellow.
