She wasn't particularly looking for anything or anyone that morning, just enjoying the change of the season, the new warmth that was in the air, and the growing green all around. She hadn't seen her family for the last few days, much as she enjoyed being with them, she couldn't do her research with them around as they weren't what she was focused on.
That was why she was travelling, and having not found anyone with the smallest amount of Kalona blood in them, she was travelling slowly back home, but in a very long, leisurely fashion. She stopped at the edge of a meadow, looking around carefully as was her custom, before stepping out, grazing slowly as she wandered along. Every now and then Chatura would stop, stand straight and listen, cautious as always when she was in a new area.

 Learning to fly had been so much harder to do than he had expected, his sister was already achieving flight while he remained firmly glued to the ground. Why was it he was always the freak? As a foal he had wings so small that they looked like the buds on a tree, and as an adult they bloomed only to be useless to their owner as he couldn't figure out how to use them. The fluttering of the ten different sections kept causing him to fall over off balanced.
That was what brought him out so early, it was always relatively quiet in the meadow, and since there where less soquili around he was unlike to crash into anyone or end up in a conversation that resulted in him being insulted yet again. Sometimes he really did wish he could kill his father for his faulty genes, why did he have to leave his mother and them to look after themselves? Did he really not care at all? Was that what it meant to be a Kalona? He cursed in frustrations and forced himself to lift his head up from its lazy grazing position to look at the sun and a much needed destraction. How he wished he could at least glide in the air just once? Feel the wind and the true warmth of the yellow ball that shone above him.
But not today. He had already grazed both of his knees and his chin from crashing and didn't really fancy doing much more damage. Instead he decided to go home and spend sometime with Lior and his mother, perhaps he should take them a treat back and act as if he hadn't really been trying to fly on his own again? Berries perhaps? Or apples?
Orion was so consumed with his own thoughts that he didn't notice the delicate mare entering the meadow or grazing every now and then as she made her way across it.
Pulling his wings into his sides once more he lowered his head and made his way towards a near by apple tree at the edge of the meadow.

Chatura caught sight of something moving on her peripheral vision and she turned, eyes narrowing at the thought that someone had managed to sneak into an area without her knowing about it, and then widening at his outline, she had caught the general shape of his wings before he pulled them closed at his side and smiled.
'How wonderful!' she whispered under her breath. Now she wasn't going home having failed to further her research. She edged along the meadow length, not wishing to surprise the other with her presence and make him leave.
'Excuse me?' she said, giving her throat small clear before she did so to announce her presence when she was within hearing distance of the stallion. She peered at his wings, trying to ascertain their proper form, but that was difficult with his pelt colour. After introductions were made she would have to ask him to unfurl them once again.

Thoughts firmly consentrating on food he sang a song in his head that he had been taught as a foal.
Oh little apple come to me,
Show me where you hide.
Don't be scared little apple,
Soon you will be mine.
His thoughts where interupted abruptly by the introduction of a new sound. Freezing to the spot he turned his head -half expecting to see his father or some other beast- yet as his eyes lay upon a delicate mare, who was also black and blue but far lighter than himself his features began to soften. A small cheeky grin upon his face. He could see the little white wing-like markings on his side. Interesting. And as his eyes lowered towards her ankles he noticed a small heart like symbol on one leg. Also interesting. "Hello" he spoke, his words soft and quiet, her eyes looked as if wanted something and although he hadn't heard her say 'excuse me' he added, "Can I help you?" Before waiting to watch her features and body language with her reply.

Chatura flicked her head, shaking her mane from the side of her face, revealing for a moment the small white heart that nestled on her upper cheek by her eye. The mane settled, covering it again and she smiled at him, he seemed friendly enough for her to broach her question.
'Hello, I certainly hope you can answer some questions for me.' she gave a quick head bob as a nod to a polite greeting.
'I'm Chatura by the by..'

Orion hadn't ever really 'seen' mares before, as a foal he had been to busy running away from anyone to take in their elegance and beauty, yet there was something intreguing about this mare. Her movements -controlled yet delicate- and her voice sounded like a harmony of melodies. His smile widening more as he found himself becoming more and more at ease.
Then as he processed her words he found himself a little cautious -what could he answer that she didn't already know? Finding himself a little distracted by the introduction of her name he shook his head a little to try and focus himself before replying. "My name is Orion. It is nice to meet you Cha-ti-ura? Is that right?" He blushed a little as he fumbled with her name, how annoying that his little foal habit showed no signs of disappearing. In an effort to change the subject and cool his warming cheeks he spoke once more before lowering his head towards the ground so that his face was no longer completely visable. "What would you like to know?" He moved his wings a little tighter to his side in an effort to seek comfort. How he wished he was still small sometimes -it was much easier to hide.

'Sha-tura..' she corrected with a smile, she couldn't exactly see that her name was very difficult to pronounce, but perhaps he had some sort of impediment to his speech, and as she was eager to speak more with him, she didn't want to offend him in any way.
'Orion..I've heard that somewhere I am sure, does it have a special meaning?' she looked at him, catching the small shifting movements he was making. Was he uncomfortable? She would have to proceed carefully if she was to get all the answers she sought.
'I'd like to ask about your wings if I may? And a few further questions on your lineage, but if you don't wish me to pry I won't.'

"Ah...." A soft blush covered his lips at the obvious mistake in pronouncing her name, he didn't really understand why he found new words so hard to say. "Sha-tura" He gave he a sweet smile in an effort to say 'sorry' before listening to the rest of her questions.
He rolled his shoulders, considering not answering her at first simply because he didn't live up to his name. It was one of the ways that he disappointed his mother -and although she never said it he knew that deep down she had hoped that he would take after his half-brother. But in truth Orion was not built to be a warrior, perhaps there really was too much of his father in him. He was only thankful that his wings where more like his mothers than his fathers. Deciding it would be rude not to answer her he spoke quietly, "Its the name of a star constallation- Orion is the warrior of the sky." He believed that such a strong name really was wasted on him. Yet he didn't have long to ponder that as her next question shocked him. She wanted to know about his wings? His lineage? Why would she want to know about such things?
It really didn't make sence to Orion, and before he could bring himself to tell her he needed to know her intent. Looking her in the eyes he tried to watch her reaction to his next words, "Why would you be interested in such things?"

'I think it suits you.' Chatura said. Truthfully she didn't know him well enough to make such a statement, but as the saying went, you caught more flies with honey than vinegar.
'Well I caught a sight of something interesting before you folded them away, and I was wondering if I was right about what I saw. Then I would have further questions for you, just to confirm.'
If there was Kalona in his lineage somewhere down the line, as she did suspect, he was answering some of her ponderings without speaking. He was obviously not vicious, seeming to be shy even, so blood didn't account for all behaviour. Though of course she needed to know exactly how diluted his Kalona blood was before reaching any more conclusions.
'Well, if you can bear with me for a moment, I will explain.' she smiled.
'I'm what would be called a scholarly Soquili, I am interested in the hows, the whys and the wherefores. My pet research project at the moment is to find a deeper understanding of the influence blood, genetics and upbringing have on ourselves. And if I haven't yet bored you..' she gave a small laugh.
'I will explain more if you need it?'

Orion. Suits him? That suprised him a little though he didn't believe it himself perhaps others saw something in him that he didn't see in himself? Shrugging the thought off he simply listened to her statements.
What had she seen? Without really thinking about it he spread his wings out wide again and turned his head to look at them. Was she curious about the dragonfly in him also? Most seemed to be afterall.
Not understanding most of what she had said he decided it was simply best to answer her previous questions so that he didn't make a fool of himself. "Well my lineage.... I don't know any of it beyond my mother and father." As usual he cringed at the mention of him -he still hated him for leaving them. Continuing, "My mother is a dragonfly and my father is a mutant kalona... or something." He shrugged his shoulders in an effort to pretend he didn't care much about him.

She listened to his wears, hearing the hidden context behind the feigned indifference as his tone of voice when speaking about his father spoke the volumes that he didn't say.
'Does it bother you that you have Kalona blood?' she asked carefully, not wanting to offend or have his back go up. She added quickly so that he would know that he wasn't alone in having such a lineage.
'I don't look it at all, but there is Kalona in my family, my grandmother is half-Kalona. My grandmother is a wonderful and caring mare..'
