Saturday afternoon. It was a day of relaxation for some kids; for others it meant work. Tate was a member of the latter group, and her new place of work was a great deal more welcoming than the last. Breaks were longer, quotas not quite so high; in addition, she just... liked it more. Her clothes were cooler. She got discounts on clothes she liked, which was more important. Plus, she totally rocked the white blouse/black slacks when you took away the disgusting orange apron...

It could be said that Tate, with the impending reality of her graduation, the release into the job market, her own place soon to come, was getting a little more confident. She was even smiling at the passerby as they headed into Forever 18. Then she spotted Howl Wickham, and her smile quickly vanished; over her shoulder, she called--something?--and gestured. Another girl, dressed similarly but lacking Tate's beret, came to take her place.

She crossed the mall concourse quickly, her heels clicking. They put her height at an even six feet--more of an amazon than anything, now. "So," she said, stopping in front of Howl. Her hands were cemented on her hips as she towered over him. "I quit Teasvatta. Sorry for not telling you." Apparently that wasn't all she wanted to say, though, as she wasn't moving and appeared to be chewing on the inside of her cheek.

Finally, Tate spat it out. "I heard you met Giselle."

It was not very frequent that people purposely went seeking out Howl Wickham. As he had been walking towards the food court, he had managed to notice the rather purposeful click click click sound of a woman's heels against the tile floor of the mall. If he hadn't caught such a signal, he might have been just a bit more surprised at the sudden appearance of Miss Tatiana Konstantin. He stopped in step, simply because he did not want to crash into her and looked up to her face.

She did not look pleased. There was just something about her posture combined with her expression and height that would have been quite a bit intimidating, if he were less of a man. Despite her apparent mood, he still offered a pleasant greeting of "It has been a while, Miss Tatiana."

Upon the first bit of news, he simply offered an "Ah, that makes sense." Miss Mio must not had been informed of Tatiana's departure from Teasvatta. Miss Mio was "special" to say the least.

There had been a pause when the brunette started to chew the inside of her cheek, and when she mentioned the young lady he had recently become acquainted with, he nodded his head and replied. "Yes, I did meet Miss Petrova recently. She had been looking to eat lunch with you, but was unable to locate you at Teasvatta."

He paused for a moment, then asked as politely as possible "Are you on the clock at the moment, Miss Tatiana? I would hate for you to get in trouble because of me."

"I'm on break," she said, shortly. So he had met Giselle--which wasn't a black mark against him at all since Giselle didn't seem to think poorly of him. She idly clicked her heel against the floor, and then she sighed and said, "I have no idea why I thought you would deny that."

Tate stepped out of the way in case he wanted to leave and crossed her arms over her chest. "It was nice to see you at that dance. I don't mean to offend, and tell me if I do, but next time--if it looks like me and that boy are fighting--please stay out of it. He was pissed at me for hours afterward." She was scowling at the memory, or else at the storefront over Howl's left shoulder. Either worked for her purposes, which mostly seemed to be 'expressing her displeasure'.

She shrugged one shoulder. "I appreciate the effort, though?..."

Most certainly, Howl would not be leaving at what seemed like the middle of a conversation, despite how Tatiana seemed to be giving him the unspoken permission to do such. Instead, he stood and listened. It was a rarity for the smile to fade from his face, but at the moment, a more thoughtful expression seemed to linger, as if he was truly taking in all she had said.

When he finally spoke, he didn't even seem to address the current issues that had been brought to the conversation. "Miss Tatiana, perhaps we should find a bench to sit at? I am certain you stand up for long periods of time at your current work place." With a hand, he gestured in a single smooth motion towards a nearby bench.

She leaned back a little, letting her arms drop to her sides. The brunette seemed to be a little surprised, but she shrugged it off and stepped out of the middle of the aisle towards the bench. "If I sit down and then start working again, my feet will hurt more," she said with some asperity, her dark eyes flitting up towards the ceiling.

Once he'd sat down, she leaned a little against the railing overlooking one of the mall's lower levels. "Just to make this clear now, Giselle is my friend." The implication was clear: her friend. She would not share. Ever.

And then, that minor unpleasantness out of the way, she said, "Where have you been, anyway? Did you get in trouble up at Hillworth or something?"

Howl was no fool. He took his seat on the bench and noted the excuse for the girl to remain standing up. It might have been a valid reason, but it was unspoken that she wanted to remain the dominant speaker in this conversation. This combined with her choice of words only led him to one conclusion.

Today was a day he was getting scolded by Tatiana Konstantin.

Where as the girl's eyes wandered about, his own eyes were rather politely fixed in her direction. She offered him a place to speak, and the lad easily picked up on the cue.

"So, to confirm that I am understanding you correctly, should you have any other problems with boys, you would like me to keep to myself?"

He paused, but merely to emphasize he was changing subjects, not offering her a chance to respond. "And I am quite aware that Miss Petrova is indeed your friend." He acknowledged the fact that Giselle was Tatiana's friend. It did not mean he had to be uncivilized with someone who was not his friend though. If that was the case, then he would be rather uncivilized at the moment, since Tatiana was merely an acquaintance, not a friend. There were very few people he would dare to call anything more than an acquaintance. Such as...

"My roommate has an awful tendency to be very active on the school grounds." Ah, Franz, keeping Howl busy at Hillworth. "I have been assisting with keeping the school grounds as clean as they will ever reasonably get. Unfortunately, my free time gets swallowed up when my roommate volunteers me for things like landscaping duty."

Normally, he would have laughed at this point, yet somehow the mood was not nearly as carefree as usual. The rough start to this meeting seemed to have a lingering effect, and Howl, though keeping his cool, was also keeping a bit distanced.
