 These little knights... I for one do not care for rap, and most modern rap songs I hear are not musical.
It's always some guy talking about how he slapped this b***h up, shot that mother f'er, banged that whore, and got drunk.
It's quite tasteless and unmusical.
Yeah, I'm sure some other genres of music do it too, but I have yet to hear it from anything but rap (and possibly some hip-hop, but I can't tell the difference between the two because I do not listen to them that often).
To me, lyrics contribute into the music.
If the lyrics are crap than the music is crap.
And it's only worse if the person isn't even SINGING.
They're just standing there, just trying to say the words as fast as they possibly can while in time with some overbearing beat that leaves you deaf.
To me, it's a disgusting thing, and far from being musical.  ...will rock your world

Rap, originally known as R.A.P. or Rhythmic American Poetry, is a form of modern american literature, not music, for it is poetry. So, no, rap isn't music.

I agree with the OP's opinion. I reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllyyyyyy despise rap and any for of it (Though there exceptions to R&B like Rihanna, i like her) I dont wanna hear how some "gangsta" shot people for lookin at his ho or how he pimp-slapped her for being a b***h. I'd rather listen to screaming death metal than even listen to one word of that crap

I HATE rap with a passion. Now, not only is it hard to hear/ understand, but it's all auto-tuned to crap.

There is some rap that I can stand. Mainly Eminem and B.O.B, any rap-metal (like Rage Against the Machine, Clawfinger and the like), and a bunch of the old s**t like Run DMC, Ice Cube and Ice T...otherwise i don't care for most of it, i'm a metalhead through and through

I listen to a few 'songs' you might class as rap, but I'm not sure if I'd class it as music. I agree that most rap is damn awful, but as with everything there are exceptions. I quite like this and this.

I think it's music. I don't listen to rap that's all like ABUSE AND DRUGSSSSS. It's not like that is all that ALL rap songs are about.
John Reuben is a pretty awesome rapper. I especially like Word of Mouth and Nuisance, ft Matthew Thiessen. Who is like the least rapper-ish person ever. XD
2NE1 is a Korean pop/hip hop group that has rapping parts in most of their songs. They are one of my favourite musical artists. CL is an amazing rapper. Minzy is pretty awesome too. Fire and Lollipop, with BIGBANG, also an amazing K-hip hop group, are pretty awesome. Lollipop is a horrible example of rap from any of them. Popiest song either of them have. XD

True there is some rap that is quite horrifying but there are also great rappers out there like Jay-z. To me rap is poetry and is a form of music and like all types of music there are those musicians that ruin it. In rap its those that put down women and constantly swear but it doesn't mean that rap isn't music. But everyone has their likes and dislikes.
I like rap and I dislike Britney Spears.
