Ominos had forsaken his usual habitat; He was quite the cave-dweller, but had decided to emerge for the time being. He was glad, at least, that the sun was not out. The day was cool and overcast, lending a gloomy feeling to the mountainous region as the great towers of stones cast their own shadows upon the forests. He considered breaking free of the coniferous pines and taking flight, seeing as the air was cool and dry, but decided to do otherwise. He was hungry, and had not eaten since that day before. It seemed as if all the little foraging animals had grown weary of him in this area--too bad. He'd just have to travel further to hunt.

He sighed and moved away from his cave, diving into the thick forest of pines. The air was sweet here, and smelled of conifers and wild berries. It was enough to make a normal Soquili's mouth water and heart uplift--however, it only served to agitate him. Why couldn't he find any prey!?

He growled and stopped at the nearby stream, bending his muscular neck to gain access to the clear spring water. It was cold as it traveled down his throat, but it served its purpose. A faint, strange sort of contentment crept into him--until a small frog jumped at his nose, startling even the tough Kalona. He growled in anger, hating himself for being so weak. A mere frog had made him jump! How dare it!

He snarled and brought his two front hooves down upon the small amphibian, smashing it in one blow. A deep, dark chuckle came from his throat, then ended as soon as it had started.

"Damn frog," he mumbled, staring at the minuscule puddle of gore.

Christian's large form trotted through the gloom without much notice. His mind was obsorbed in the song his neighbor's had carried through the valley, keeping him eternally deaf to the change in surroudings. He had travelled far that day, his hooves never stopping for a break because of the energy his song gave him, though as he was as silent as the wood around him.

His tail wipped carelessly against the side of a berry bush and only when he crushed them under hoof did he stop to take a whiff. The uni paused to have a look around. T'were he not so hungry, he would have been suspicious, but Christian wasn't one to turn away from a free meal. He stuffed as many berries as possible into his stomach before moving on.

It didn't take him long to start choking. He heaved and curled his nostrils, moving quickly to the stream up ahead. When he broke to it's banks his thick neck drooped immediately and he drank until whatever ailed him vanished.

Christian gulped and sighed, taking the time now to look up.

Ominos turned his head to the side, his nose wrinkling in distaste as a new scent hit the air. Other Soquili were uncommon in this part of the mountains, seeing as most preferred to stay in their herds, where it was safer. But it seemed as if one had lost their way, or perhaps even meant to be traveling towards the little stream. He hated that smell!

Sure enough, when he focused on the stream bed further down, there was a rather hefty looking uni standing near the bank. He had never seen a horse of such proportions! The stallion was not fat--simply stocky, and muscular. Still, Ominos doubted that he'd be any match for one of Kalona blood. He wondered if uni meat was good tasting...

But he had no wish to engage in a full out battle with the stocky stallion. He had no doubt that he could win the fight, if there was one, but he wasn't in the mood for attaining injuries. It always took so long for them to heal... and if they were bad enough, they could inhibit his strength. Of course, that was only if the other stallion was truly strong, and was able to give Ominos a worthy fight. Perhaps he was just a big weakling... and Ominos was so hungry!

He flapped his leathery wings in agitation, and moved towards the other stallion. If the Uni was smart, he'd run, before it became too late.

The stench of a Kalona over powered the water and for the first time, Christian surveyed the landscape. It was another stallion, with a mane much like his own and two of the most beautiful horns he had ever seen. The devils pelt reminded him of a serpant or a little lizard.

Christian slowly raised his head and stepped one hoof into the stream, then another. The muck around his fetlocks drifted away with the current. He made no move to intimidate the other as he washed himself clean, more or less blocking out his prescence. It had been so long since he was in an actual fight that Christian wasn't sure he could win, but the fact that he didn't feel more than uneasy with a Kalona near gave him confidence.

He looked up from where he'd been pulling a bur out of his tail and blinked, acessing the situation with an eyebrow raise. So that was it, then? It didn't surprise him, given the breed.

Christian rolled his shoulders and turned to face him, lowering his horn with a snarl.

Ominos was slightly surprised by the uni's ignorance--he might have even laughed at it, except that it only served to anger him more. He could feel the blood rushing under his skin, fueling his large muscles with adrenaline and pushing him towards violence. He usually did not pick fights, and only maimed when he wished to kill his prey afterward. But something about this stocky unicorn disgusted him--perhaps it was his overall lack of uncaring?--and made him angry to the bone. He deserved to be attacked!

Ominos stamped forward, extending his wings and flapping them threateningly at his sides. He gave a deep snarl, shaking the long bangs from his pale eyes.

"Fool!" he spat, his voice deep and tinged with a German accent. "You have asked for this!" And he charged, his tail whipping out behind him. He didn't even care if he missed or not--his teeth were simply bared, searching for any part of the stocky body that they could find.
