Spring was defientely coming, by how the snow was receding, the days were getting longer and warmer...and the fact it was always muddy! Now Speed didn't mind getting dirty, especially if working on an automobile, but having to constantly wash off his gloves and boots was getting annoying. Oh well, at least the fishing was getting better. Speed had his boots and gloves off, letting them dry on a large, flat rock that overhung a small lake. Today just seemed like one of those days to just sit back and enjoy ones surroundings, and that is what he was doing, laying on his belly and just letting the sun warm him up.

Kimberly had spent most of the morning starring somewhat annoyed at the dirty snow mush and mud that her garden was becoming. Or really, annoyed that she had lost her balance a few times and ended up covered in mud. She'd thrown a quick shout of good-bye to the guys then headed to clean up.

Only after getting clean, she'd found herself morphing so that she could scout around. Not finding anything she'd stopped near a small lake she didn't know. She'd pondered de-morphing until she realized there was another otter nearby. She gave a squeak of surprise, flushing underneath her helmet.

"Hello?"

Speed was just about to lay his head on his paws when he heard a greeting close by, the voice sounding like a female, but it had a weird tone to it. Sitting up, he looked about and spotted the pinked clad otter, but he blinked in surprise at her helmet. It was the same kind of helmet his friend the Blue Ranger wore! "Hello there!" he said in greeting.

A welcome greeting wasn't usually the kind of reception she was used to, not in the Oasis, and she found herself smiling. As a ranger she tried not to meet many, the open suspicion and hostility of others on earlier occasions had startled her. To find that this otter seemed to feel neither towards her eased the weariness that she hadn't known she'd been feeling.

"Hello," she stated again in a much warmer tone. "I'm the Pink Ranger, and you are?" She tensed subtly, hopeful that he wouldn't remark what a strange 'name' she had. She wasn't sure she could explain giant blue floating heads and automaton's that had a habit of shouting Ay yi yi!.

Standing up, he made his way toward her, "Nice to meet'cha, my name is Speed, Speed Racer." He tilted his head, looking inquistive, "You wouldn't happen to be related or know the Blue Ranger, would you?" he asked, pretty sure the two knew each other. Otters dressed like that and calling themselves rangers had to know each other.

"It's nice to meet you, Speed Racer," she replied. With a name like that she supposed she didn't have to worry about him questioning hers. She wasn't sure she liked how easily he approached her, one never knew about the otters these days, but she did nothing to reveal that. She stayed perfect still.

Warm brown eyes widened, "You know Bi--I mean," she coughed to cover her mistake. "You know the Blue Ranger?" It dawned on her then that he had spoken of a Speed, an otter that had helped him find wires. What were the odds? (She silently was glad Billy wasn't around to hear that thought, the answer would have given her a headache.) "Oh, yes, I know the Blue Ranger. He's one of my teammates and friends."

Speed grinned, happy to be right, "I knew it!! You two are the only otters I have ran into that wear helmets like that." he commented, sitting down. "Was the Blue Ranger able to use those wires we found?" he asked, tilting his head a little.

Kimberly smiled at the apparent happiness. "Yes, he was. Thanks to your help in finding the wires he was able to fix our communicators so we can talk to one another." She gave a nod of her head as she lifted her left forepaw, pulling off her white with pink diamond glove to show the shiny and working silver communicator around her wrist.

Leaning over to get a better look, his gray eyes went wide, "Wow...never seen another otter with technology like a humans. Course, I'm probably the only otter that knows how to drive a car." he said, looking embarrassed and rubbing the back of his head.

She gave her head a nod for she hadn't seen another otter with human technology either--then again Billy wasn't a typical otter in so many ways that perhaps that was to be expected. After all he had built a direct thought transfer machine (which had been sabotaged and was something she often was happy to forget about).

"I can pilot a zord," Kimberly volunteered. "I don't know if that is quite like a car though, especially mine," she admitted considering hers was more like a plane.

"A zord? Is that like a car or something?" he asked. His back paws were starting to get cold, all too used to wearing his custom white boots, but he shuffled them to stay warm, liking the conversation he was having.

She squinted her brow trying to think of how to describe a zord. "A zord is a big vehicle, um that can be used to fight. I don't know if we still have access to them." In the time she had been in the reserve she hadn't ever tried calling to her zord, as far as she knew neither had the guys. She wondered if the zords could hear them and tentatively looked up at the sky in question though she did not call out to it.

"I'm sure B-the Blue Ranger could tell you more. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure you couldn't even get inside of one," she tilted her head, neglecting to mention power coins because the more she thought about it the more she realized the rest of the otters must of thought they were all insane. (Thank Zordon no one else was around!)

"Soooo...it's probably like having a car...you need a key to start it and drive it!" he said, grinning that he seemed to get what she was talking about. He didn't think her or the Blue Ranger odd, he was just glad they both didn't seem to be the type to attack others. But thinking of driving made him think of his first human and he sighed a bit sadly.

The sigh made him forget about being a ranger completely. She shuffled forward and placed a paw on his shoulder, dipping her head to make sure he felt as though she was looking eye to eye with him (which was silly considering she was wearing a helmet). "Are you all right, Speed?"

She gave a little breath of air, wanting to discard her helmet or de-morph all together but she knew she couldn't. They decided, together, that they should continue doing all they could to follow Zordon's rules.

Speed glanced at the Pink Ranger when she put her paw on his shoulder and then glanced over at the lake, his eyes looking like they were seeing something else all together, "Yea, I'm ok, just....well...I've never told anyone this, but I love driving cars, but at the same time....they make me really sad." he confessed, standing up and slowly padding over to his boots.

"My very first human was a race car driver, he taught me everything I know, from how the road would feel, how to read your car and let the car read you, to even how to build one!" he said, smiling as he recalled those memories, "I'll never forget my first family, and I hope I'll see them all again some day, but my first human....he really showed me what it's like to be happy and when I drive, I think about him and it makes me happy and sad at the same time." Shaking his head, he wiped at his face quickly to get rid of the tears that were falling, "That must sound stupid, I'm sorry." he said, grabbing his boots and slipping them on.
