like today, i saw some guy driving a hummer and his plates said green this

My grandmother had a very good saying that I think would apply here. So, when he can't drive it any more, because of the gas prices or whatever, keep this in mind when recycling:
"Aw, we can use it. Just paint it flat black, and plant flowers in it."

people only see what they want to see, so when no one wants to see earth in need, they block it out and make themselves believe that were okay and nothing will happen at all

This space we live in isn't ours. But we have to use it. Why shouldn't we take care of it? It just makes sense. Well, in my mind, anyway.

My guess is that people who don't care about the environment think this: 'No one else is doing anything to help the environment, so why should I? After all, it only makes a difference if everyone does their part.' (Yes, it's hypocritical and utterly ridiculous.) These are the people that litter instead of recycle, and drive trucks instead of riding bikes or walking, even though they could make a change if they wanted to. It's really quite sad.

I agree with Stars, the basis of most environmental problems stems from the “cult of apathy” because it does not matter what experts say or what people think they should do, most act in terms of self gratification or convenience. While some may fall into the mindless consumer category or go along with what they are told to do (usually by the media), a lot of people reject the idea that they cannot have an opinion. Even though they may be uninformed, they are still willing to air their views, especially online where they do not have to face the consequences of appearing foolish, and treat expert advice with biased criticism. The majority of people do not want to fall into the sheep category, even if they are secretly inclined to do so, because in our North American society the individual is glamorized. This individualistic approach to debating and arguing the theories and evidence of the environmental professionals leads to scattered and poorly focused reforms heavily influenced by lobby groups and public figures.

Oh man, I see and hear about people being cruel to the environment intentionally ALL the time. It's everywhere, in the news, online and in real life.
I know that it's sad, frustrating and is difficult to ignore the stupid things people do to the environment. Many people just don't care, but there are many who do care! As much as it saddens me when people harm nature...I'm happy that at least I'm making a difference by being eco-friendly and helping people in my neighborhood who are interested in going natural.
So, what I'm saying is to not get too upset, because there are many people now-a-days that are protecting the environment and there are many organizations that people can join. It may be a slow process, but conservation laws are getting better!

Because humans are just too stupid to see what they are doing to the Earth. A lot of people (most of them I see are Republicans, not saying anything, but that's what I noticed) only care about the welfare pf themselves and don't care who else gets hurt in the process, sad isn't it? We can't change their minds, but we can still always do our share for the Earth by doing what those idiots refuse to do: care for our Earth. That's the reason that you guys joined this guild, right, to show that you are a proud Gaian who loves their planet.

I find that most people don't have enough information about the environment. I know I've talked with a lot of people, you know people who live in the ghetto, and when they listen to what I have to say their heart goes out to the earth and I notice that something inside them changed. Also, a lot of people base their opinions on false information, they listen to lobbyists, paid 'scientists' who claim that global warming is a myth and that second hand smoke doesnt cause cancer, etc. Other people sometimes don't have a choice such as those who live in rural areas and they make their living off of working for mining companies. And then there are those who live in their world and turn away from the facts for the sole purpose of money. So what do you do? Well, I just continue informing others so that they can make their decision based on fact.
