A heartless set of cold, aqua eyes appeared from inside the looming shadow that was the hollow cavern of the main elephant skull. Following those eyes emerged the shadowey figure of a lanky female hyena. Mafa, the alpha female of the elephant graveyard slowly peered out of the skull in which she had fallen asleep in. She hadn't been out long, but long enough to make her wary. She felt that she needed to keep an eye on the place at all times, especially with the filthy lions crawling about. She wasn't about to let them infect the place with their presence.
With a huff, the female peered back into the skull for a few seconds and then proceeded to walk out completely. With a effortless hop, Mafa lifted herself onto one of the huge, long tusks there were still attached to the skull. She walked to the edge of it and looked out with a calculating eye. Everything seemed in order as far as she could see, she was satisfied. With a sigh, Mafa's ears perked up in thought, perhaps everything wasn't in order. Her newly established pack sure wasn't. She barely knew too many of the hyenas that lived here, and if there lived here, Mafa considered them to belong to her.
It would be interesting to see all of them together in one place, getting to know each other, getting to know who was in charge. It was a plan, a good plan. Without another thought, Mafa rose her head and let out an echoing cackles, one very characteristic of the hyenas, calling the others to her.

The loud laughing cry made Rasuli stop and look back in the direction of Mafa's huge skull lair, the direction that it seemed to come from. He had been up at dawn, making his way out to check on the boarders and begin his 'patrol' - which also included a bit of exploring and familiarising himself with the graveyard.
Now it seemed, there was a call back to the lair. Well he wouldn't question why, indeed his curiousity was sparked. And he certainly wouldn't disobey an order from his alpha!
With a small yip of his own, he turned around and quickly trotted back to where the female had let him sleep on his first couple of nights. As he drew closer he spied her atop one of the tusks and he slowed his pace as he wandered into sight.

Mafa's cold gaze out at the dusty graveyard was unwavering as she waited for any of the hyenas to show themselves. She doubted too many would come, but she'd track them down eventually and establish a few things in their clueless minds. She needed not wait long before she saw a small puff of dust heading her way. By the scent of it, it was a hyena. Mafa narrowed her eyes in an icy glare that would meet the hyena as it looked up at her.
But as the hyena that was coming her way became visible, the glare faded. It was just Rasuli, the young pup which she had found a few days before and had taken quite a liking to. She wasn't quite sure why she was so inwardly fond of this youth, perhaps it was because he came trained, he believed almost exactly what she believed, that the lions must go. Or maybe it was a surpressed motherly instinct that was coming to fruition, who knew. Whatever it was, it made the female act much nicer to the pup than to the others, something she really didn't realize. Mafa gave the pup a nod of greeting an acceptance, her voice still not showing any emotion,
"Rasuli, sit over here" Mafa gestured with her head to a spot of dirt next to the tusk she stood on, "Find anything interesting on patrol?"

[spy mission log...day 1...attempting to inflitrate the hyenas....will write more later XD]
Kajji crouched down behind one of the larger bones. Srunching his nose up, he peeked out from behind the bone. He had never seen more then one heyna. Seeing two was rather odd. In fact it worried his small cub mind. Twitching his ear's he strained to hear what was being said.

Her larger, powerful frame on top of that mantle of ivory was something to behold. Oh yes, it left no doubt in Rasuli's mind that he had gotten in with the right crowd, and certainly that this was an alpha worth following. The voice had been right.... as usual.
He trotted up closer and perked his ears forward when he found her looking at him. His tail gave a faint wag, appreciating her nod and he listened carefully to her words. Although they held no kindness in their tone, there was no anger or hate either. And the words themselves inspired him. Quickly he made his way to her side as she had indicated and sat down, quite pleased with his position.
"Didn't see anything." He reported. "I had a look closer to the boarders, no lions about...." He paused. "But I could smell them. A few trails around near the edges. Old though, nothing really to follow. But one set seemed to have a few scents that were slightly similar to each other?"

Huh. Zoma thought to herself, staring at the vastness of the bones that littered the ground before her. She was lost again... well, more on the lines of still lost from previous wonderings but she knew that this area had been unexplored by her eyes. It was clearly new to her, well on second thought.... maybe...
The dark hyena let out small hum in a sing-songy way as she hopped down from the giant scapula that she had currently resting and viewing from. A few bits of dust and bones went airborn as she landed not-so delicately below her previous elavated site. Zoma had taken a few steps before an echoing cackle rang through around her. Ears pivoted, head turned .. her blue ears darting about. The hell was that? It sounded kind of like ...
"Hyena!" She squealed in a hushed tone. But where? Her weight shifted between her front paws excitedly, pondering which direction to turn. Zoma debated for a moment, before finally deciding .. hoping she actually lucked out and chose the right way.
[ yay xD; *shot*]

Mafa's dull nails idlely scratched at the hardened bone beneath her paws. Aqua eyes following Rasuli's frame until he came to a stop near her. Her ears perked to his report and with another sigh, she nodded again,
"Yes, some damn lions came in and are living at the graveyard borders, they're multipying like rabbits, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the siblings that you sensed."
The pup was doing a good job, he'd save her a lot of time an energy in the long run. His little report was rather detailed, and that was a good thing. Once again she nodded assuringly to the pup and took a breath in to sigh. It was then that she froze and her expression went from being blank, to hateful. She took a few more sniffs before glaring down at Rasuli. She wasn't really mad at him, just mad in general,
"Smell that? Lion filth, it's close." With a huff, the female jumped from her perch and padded next to Rasuli and gestured away from the skull with her head, "Show me Rasuli, show me you belong here, help me get that lion out of our home, by any means necessary."
Mafa growled and set off in the direction the lion's scent was coming from, she hoped the lion wasn't an old one, that wouldn't be too safe of a situation for Rasuli, but she could handle it, if it was alone. She also sensed another hyena in the air, one she didn't know. Perhaps they would meet along the way, but for now, she had more important things to tend to.

Tukutu wandered back into the main part of the graveyard, to where his home was. Tired from dragging the left carcass from a previous hunt, he gave up and, exhausted, made his way back to where he could sleep. Sleep was all that was on his mind when he heard the call. Mafa. Outside, he gave a hacking cough with a disgusted look on his face, but inside he was a bit worried. It wasn't anything that sounded worrisome, but he worried a little, nonetheless, even if it was just to convince himself that life would just be that much more boring without her to harass. Didn't matter to him if she was alpha or not, they'd known one another for a long time, since they were pups, and he wasn't going to let her totally boss him around. Not like he was that hard to control, though. He picked up his pace a bit, the dry ground puffing up bits of dust as his paws padded against the grown. His worn-down claws barely reached the ground, his paws starting to lighten in colour from the dust. His emeral-coloured eyes surverying the ground before he noticed that Mafa's normal skull-home was empty. That's a little more then different, Tukutu thought to himself.

"Siblings? You mean, a litter?" The pup's eyes widened a bit before narrowing. Lions... now thinking it was safe to breed and raise cubs on these lands! Oh no... no doubt the hyenas would have something to say about it (with their teeth) and he'd be there to help.
Her sudden glare at him made his ears go back for a second though, confused. But then she explained and his little nose began twitching as it worked. Yes, she was right. A lion's scent and much fresher than what he'd found out while patroling.
"Yeah, I smell it." He affirmed, a growl to his voice as he looked out and around to where it might be. But he should trust his nose to help him with that. Lowering it to the ground he set off with Mafa, his shaggy fur on his neck bristling up with excitement.
He caught other scents as he tracked too, other hyenas but none he knew. That could wait for a moment though, Mafa was counting on him and he had to prove himself to her. Prove he had what it took to stay here. By whatever means necessary she'd said. Well he would do just that!

Kikuto peeked into the elephant grave yard with her blue eyes survaying their territory. Her ears swiveled as she listened as Mafa let out the call for them all. She strode through it, paws not making a soound as she walked.
Approaching the others, her tail swished behind her as a smile found her maw. She couldn't believe the lions and what they were doing, it made no sense to her why any sane animal would even do it. Blinking at the news, she shook her mane, going to sit down to think about what happened.

[spy mission log...day 2...I've been detected and escape is now essential...]
Kajji let out a soft growl as they came towards them. He wasn't all that afraid of them. He didn't understand what the big deal was that lion's were in the graveyard. However he decided to follow his instincts and began to back away slowly. His eyes on the two approaching.

A silver adolscent was slow to hear the call. Shifting from his resting place amoungst the dark dust he rose, walking silently towards the large skull which he knew was home to the lead Hyena. What was her name again? Ah, Mafa, that was it. He had been appointed Scout to the pack and wondered if his slow response would somewhat jeopardise his position.
Olive eyes slid from side-to-side. There were more Hyena than usual here. Where was that brother of his, Kimbia? Sighing, he walked a little closer to the skull, shaking a tuft of his hair out of his eyes.

Mafa huffed at the pup's words, her head rising up with a scowl on her maw,
"Disgusting isn't it? Tiny little lions, trotting around, polluting out land with their stench"
With a glare, Mafa's head suddenly swiveled back and she paused for a brief seconds. A loud, hacking cough echoed out and a familir scent floated across her nose. Whatever he was hacking up was of no matter to her, he could worry about his own hide, but she was satisfied with the fact that he had come. Tukutu, her appointed consort had made it to their little meaning. Another unfamiliar scent came across her palate, the one of another female hyena. Mafa felt rather unhappy about leaving the area while the others gathered, but she had something important to tend to. Hopefully, Tukutu would keep the crowd in order until she returned with Rasuli. A low growl became audible as the pair neared the source of the foul liony stench. Mafa paused, grim and menacing expression on her maw. She looked to Rasuli, the lion wasn't very old, he shouldn't have had a problem with this small annoyance. Besides, she was there to back him up. The aqua eyed female slowly took slithered uo to the pup, hissing hateful words in his young ear, her voice full of malice for the feline before them,
"Go ahead Rasuli, take care of it, rid us of its unecessary life, feel no pity..."

Rasuli was also picking up sounds and scents of unfamiliar hyenas behind them as they made a slight detour to take care of the intruder. It made him tenser, more determined now. Not only had he better prove himself to Mafa, but the rest of the pack now too. Of course they weren't with them at this very instant but when the lion was taken care of he would be able to announce it proudly to the rest.
He troted alongside his alpha and looked down at the growling lion, a black scrawny thing which was obviously a rogue. Instantly his fur bristled. He noted the scars that it already bore and wondered briefly at its unusually marked and shiny coat. However one thing was on his mind for this lion - out or dead.
Mafa's voice sounded softly in his ear as he laid them back, ready for a fight. It sounded much like the voice that spoke in his head, telling him what to do, what to feel. No mercy. No pity. Never... With a loud bark he leapt down in front of the feline, courage and hate mixed and amplified by the knowledge of his alpha and pack behind him.
"Intruder!! Spy!" He growled with his teeth bared. "I'm going to line my den with your bloody pelt!" And with that he darted forward, jaws snapping to try and get a bite on the lion's leg. He kept his head and neck low, not exposing his throat to to enemy, while the thicker fur on the back of his neck should help protect that area.

Zoma snuffed loudly once she found herself among bones... more bones, different bones. The scent of those two other hyena - Mafa and Rasuli - was all about the area but because of her lack of sensible direction she was unsure of where they had actually gone.
Black ears dropped slightly as her cobalt eyes glanced about, looking for any sign that could indicate where the two had gone. But, as she lacked a good sense of direction, she was just as lacking in tracking - it really was a wonder she was still alive. The female dipped her nose to the ground, in some hopes of picking something up when her ears finally picked up. There .. seemed to be more hyena about. Head picked up, ears swiveling again hoping to pick up something as she trotted down towards the skull that Mafa called home...
[sorry, if I'm rather vague on things.. e.e; ]
