BRIEFING

Location: 2 miles south of Eturbury, a derelict town known as "Little Etur" partially destroyed by flooding, land bought by the Black templars for training purposes. The town covers a roughly rectangular area, about three miles east to west and two miles north to south. It is a heavily urban area with a small park roughly in the centre.

Mission: In preparation for future BT undertakings, BT command have decided that a month long training exercise is in order. Elements of the BT have been chosing for specialist airborne training, whilst others have been given the role of defending the small town against the airborne troops.

The goal of the attackers is to wrest control of five key buildings: The old post-office seving as an armoury, the Primary (Elelmentary) school being used as a hospital, a five story office building used as the command and contol centre, the shopping centre being used as a supply depot and the radio station being used as a communications centre. Taking control of these buildings will crush any hopes of resisting the attackers, whilst removing one will weaken the ability of the defenders. Attacking troops will have access to jeeps (i.e. Land Rover Snatches), but no other heavy equipment.

The defender's objective is simple, resist the attackers and repel them from the town. They will have five days (1 post each) to put up their defences, which may include: Barbed wire, sandbagged emplacements, machine guns and barriers that will prevent vehicle movement. Defenders will have access to Jeeps and Light tanks (think British Ferret Armoured cars, light armour, machine gun in turret etc.)

Weapons and similar equipment will be using a "Laser tag" system with blank rounds being used to provide as accurate an environment as possible.

RP OUTLINE

Hello all! Well, this is a new RP that will be run until the regular one can start again. The idea is to boost activity in the guild, AND to give you scuggans summat to do wink . Now, as the briefing post above says, there will be two teams, attackers and defenders, the idea is that you show your interest, declare your desired team, and we carry on as normal. Now, whilst there is a high chance of unbalanced teams, there will be NPCs to bulk out the ranks so to speak.

This RP will also make use of a map, in achange from the usual RPs we've run, there will be an umpire (me for now, though I may enlist aid) who will effectively judge the success of character's actions. I.e. lets assume that the attackers have assaulted a building in greater numbers than there are defenders (including NPCs), the umpire will judge (based on Roleplay evidence) who will come out on top. The major decider will be post depth (not length!) i.e. who is most descriptive AND has the most suitable plans.

If your character goes down, there will be a period of 2 days (real time, not gaia time) where they will have the chance to either:
A) Control an NPC (if any survive) to get you to safety and medic you or
B) Another nearby Player character to drag you to safety and medic you in their post. Note that if a player character posts to medic you, they may NOT use the same post to then attack (more on posting rules later)

Using the above example, the attckers have charged in guns blazing against the defenders, and the RP goes along the lines of "we rush them, bang bang bang!", the defenders then come up with another post along the lines of "we react to the enemy fire by digging into cover. We order a few NPCs to try and flank the attacking forces from the side as they rush in." In this case, the umpire will side with the defenders, and the attackers will likely lose a large number of NPCs (PCs will be a bit more durable) and end up repulsed. The RP then carries on from there.

Each building will have a value (i.e. number of points), the side which holds the largest number of points will effectively win. However, they also have main objectives which will have to be completed in order for the points to matter. On the map, these are marked out in red, in order for your team to gain points from the buildings around them, they must hold these buildings as well.

The defending team will get a chance to set up their defences before the attacker can move in, this is represented by ONE post each, detailing what they have set up and where. Defenders have until midday on the third of april (Greenwich mean time/English time) after that, attackers can start posting after my initial post.

The map will appear in the post below once it's finished, it's available for Attackers AND defenders, though the defenders will also have a map showing their defences once I've compiled them.

Any questions feel free to ask!

POSTING RULES

Now, because of the nature of the RP, some rules will have to be in effect:

1) There is no limit on the posts a person may do each day, BUT if the post is used to attack (i.e. you've assaulted a position, ambushed a patrol etc.) you may NOT make ANY further posts. This is to keep confusion down
2) If you are posting to attack you HAVE to clearly mark out who you are attacking by stating their username.
3) If you are attacked and do NOT react within a day of the attacker's post, you will immediately lose the combat and be forced to retreat in your next post.

MAP RULES

1) The map is free to be taken and edited by you to mark where defences you've found/set up are, what buildings you've taken, and rough locations of where you are.
2) Infantry forces may take any route to an objective they want, however vehicles may ONLY go along roads. The white areas outside of roads are assumed to be housing (there are no points for taking houses though defenders may choose to put up defenses)
3) In order for a building to be taken, you must clearly say where you are attacking, and you have to make a successful attack post for EACH floor/story of the building. If you ever fail an attack, you will be repulsed to the next floor down, or out of the building if no floors remain.
