Maybe it was just where the pride had set itself up, which would have made a lot of sense to the rogue-gone-member. However, the memory of waking up after what had felt like days (had it been days?) and seeing that big ol' shape in the sky staring down at him had been quite.. influential on his opinion of this 'great lion'.
He'd never heard anybody else call it a great lion before. It was a strange thing to look into and adapt to. But he was learning. He'd met a couple of other lions who had roamed the grasses as well before joining... like one 'Artemis'. Her mate had also had a few words on wandering before he had returned to the pride.
Fascinating, really.
Although, the fact he now had a defined area that was 'free wandering' zone, as opposed to it all being his landscape of roaming made a lone patch of grass all the more inviting...
Which may have been what had prompted him to romp freely into the patch of darkened grasses, rolling onto his back after a leap and a cry of joy. Well, at least he was enjoying himself!
If not in a rather silly manner.

With the moon bright and Hecate somewhere nearby, Amalthea was free to wander a bit more. She had been walking with her sister for a little while as she took her turn on guard duty and while she stuck around the route her sister followed, she knew she would be safe. Even when she got some distance from the border area that Hecate patrolled. She had no idea what she was going to do with her time but she wasn't feeling very tired, so she walked. She wasn't exactly expecting to run into anybody- least of all an unfamiliar, pale adult rolling around the grass like a cub.
She stopped and stared for a moment, trying both to understand what was going on and place his name and face but she just couldn't do it. He was new and familiar enough that she knew he was a pride member. Hm.

Hee hee, haaaa! He was practically rolling back and forth in a sort of gleeeeeeee, oblivious to the fact he was being watched until he'd stopped to take a breath, on his back and waving his paws in the air, before he lifted his head up to take a look arou-
Heeey! Company!
Horatio stared back at the lioness for a moment, before he beamed at her, waving one of his paws at her with a vehement fervor in greeting.
"Hello!" he greeted cheerfully, pausing to think before he rolled over onto his stomach, as to prevent any belly-talking that could have been found as an awkward thing. Not that he would have been embarrassed by it. Just for the sake of his new-right he was making as of right now.
"Care to come join me?" he asked, fidgeting excitedly, like a little kid waiting for his parents to wake up for Christmas.

She snapped out of it when she very suddenly realized he was staring back at her, she hadn't meant to stare so rudely. Her first reaction was to look away, even when he called out a greeting and sounded perfectly cheerful. But that was what made her look back again with a shy smile. She walked closer, in time to be invited to join in.
"Uh," she hesitated, "What exactly are you doing?"
She couldn't really join in if she didn't know what was going on, but she felt perfectly ridiculous asking him anyway. He certainly looked very happy and friendly, something she was certain she was not appearing as.

When the female approached, Horatio seemed to jump right up to his paws to start doing a rather hoppy-skip around her twice before sitting back in the grass, balancing on his hind legs to assume a rather 'begging' pose, his front legs dangling in the air.
"I'm being happy! It's funner when there's someone to be happy with you~!" he chimed optimistically, wobbling awkwardly before he toppled right over into the grass again with a rather nice 'thump'. This just prompted a good round of laughter before he rolled over onto his stomach again.
HmmMMmm.
"Not to say you can't be happy by yourself, it's just funner to be happy together~"
... Hadn't he already said that before? Maybe he had. Whatever! It was fun enough~
"So care to join me~?"

Amalthea blinked twice and then smiled. She wasn't feeling particularly happy but he was certainly convincing enough to at least earn a smile. She wasn't sure she would begin hopping around as he did, though.
"Why are we so happy?" she asked, her tone purely curious. She didn't want to burst his bubble but she obviously wasn't just feeling it the way he was. Fortunately, her words also indicated some level of agreement to join in.

Ha ha ha! Victim! Friend! Almost immediately, Horatio bounced right back up from his spot (or rather, rolled from it), popping right back up to sit by Amalthea with a wide grin, bumping his head against her shoulder in an overly-friendly manner.
Oh the humanity, he definitely didn't mind invading her personal space. Though it was optional for her to actually -not mind- him doing it.
"Why do we need a reason~? We're alive, have all of our parts..." he paused to give her a glance over to make sure he wasn't making some horrible assumption at her expense. Would be bad for him to say something inappropriate with that, "and it's a beautiful evening!
Therefore, there is plenty to be happy about without an occasion~"

She barely flinched when suddenly he was up and bumping against her shoulder. It was surprising and it took some effort not to react but she had been practicing being careful. She knew he was a pride member, she knew he wasn't low class, she wouldn't want to offend him. Though part of her doubted that would be possible. And when he offered his reasons for being so happy, even she took a moment to look down to her feet and tail to see if there was anything missing.
"I suppose there's nothing wrong with those reasons," she agreed finally, smiling once again.

Ah ha! Another smile! Her smiling seemed to make him all the happier, perking up all the more before taking another romp out into the grass, before falling into a roll back into the grass. Promptly after his, he tapped the space next to him with a paw, gesturing for her to come join him.
"Come sit with me! It'll be fun!"
... -What- would be fun about just sitting there in the grass? Was he actually just so high on life that the idea of just sitting there was something exciting? Welll, he'd been happy enough to bounce around like a bit of a freak, so probably would be.
Ha ha.
"We can stargaze or something..
unless that's no fun to you. Then we can do something else! Is there something you'd like to do? I'm up for anything~" he offered, brightening immediately.

Two things became very clear very quickly. He definitely wanted to share his joy with somebody and he was willing to compromise when she didn't seem ready to just dive into the grass and roll around. She probably would have when she was a cub but she was more careful now. All things considered, there was probably no reason not to sit down with him. At least no obvious reason she saw. So she did walk over and take a seat beside him, though with more attention than he had to personal space.
"I love stargazing," she said brightly, smiling at him and glancing up to the sky. It was a good night for it.

Excellleeennntttt! It was nice to have a compliant happiness-buddy, at the very least. Otherwise he may have been stuck with a stick-in-the-mud who didn't want to find joy in anything (which would have been infinitely worse for the person who was being a grouch than it would be for him, consisting of many attempts to cheer them up, along with a 'Happy nooowwwww? How about nowwwwwwwwww?'). But he wasn't do he didn't linger on the possibility for very long. In fact, it passed by as quickly as it had popped into his head.
"Oh good!" he beamed, please that his initial suggestion had some sort of shine taken to it, shifting in the grass and looking up at the sky, taking a deep breath. Hmmmm. What did he see?
What did he see...?
"Do you see anything yet?" he asked, looking to Amalthea, pausing and furrowing his brows together, before suddenly adding on;
"Oh! I'm Horatio. Might be better to get introductions done too, unless you'd prefer to just call me 'Hey you'. That works too, if that's what you'd like to go with~"

Amalthea turned her head up to the sky but that wasn't really where her eyes went, she kept an eye on Horatio, already guessing he wouldn't last long before he said something else. And when she was proven right, she laughed.
"No, nothing yet," she turned her head back to look at him- then started at his sudden introduction, having completely forgotten about that, "I'm Amalthea, I-" She cut herself short of completing an introduction, generally feeling some obligation to make her status known but she didn't want to bring it up this time.
"I'm pleased to meet you," she finished, putting on a smile again.

"That's a good name!" he answered with the same chipperness he had given everything else he was saying, settling into the grass quite contently, flopping his front legs across his chest to stare up at the sky with some consideration, brows furrowing together.
Yes, he was squinting at the sky to see if he could spot anything fun in the stars. Hopefully he'd spot something fun soon! Then again, maybe Amalthea would find something exciting too! He couldn't be more excited for either prospect.
Not to say his excitement didn't prevent him from shifting with pure excitement the entire time he was chilling there, looking up at the stars.
Goodness, he was like a Jack in the Box. If prompted, he'd probably jump right back up and start romping around with pure joy.

"T-thank you," she stammered at the unusual remark, though she wasn't exactly surprised. It just seemed like something he would say. To any name, to anybody- but he said it to her, that felt nice. And at least he did have something to say. She was so worried about what to say, she nearly jumped when he suddenly spoke to her again. She looked back down from the sky, smiling and shaking her head-- and looking back up to the sky in time to see a shooting star fly by.
"Wait- look!" she said excitedly, "Did you see that?"

With almost the giddiness of a child, Horatio practically lept up to his feet when Amalthea grew excited over their her latest discovery, more excited by the fact she was enjoying herself rather than being excited about having seen it in the first place.
"Make a wish, make a wish!!!" he urged with great excitement, completely forgetting to do such a thing himself. Hey, she'd seen it first, so if it was only good for one wish, he'd let her have it! He didn't need a wishing-star!
..
....
or so he thought, anyways!
"Oh, and don't say it out loud!" That was bad luck, after all.
